  • DNH and Daman & Diu Make Rapid Strides towards Overall Development in Five Years

    Praful Patel

The union territory has seen numerous developmental initiatives in healthcare, education, employment generation, tourism promotion, and other areas under administrator Praful Patel.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu has made unprecedented progress in both ease of living and doing business since 2016.

Silvassa (DNH) [India], August 28: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, the union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu has taken rapid strides towards development for all in the last five years.

The union territory has made tremendous progress in health, education, industrial development, tourism, women empowerment, urban and rural development, tribal welfare, among others, since 2016.

Incidentally, Praful Patel, Administrator of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, took over as the administrator of Daman & Diu, which was a separate union territory at the time, on August 29, 2016, and he will complete five years of serving on the post on Sunday. Subsequently, he was also assigned the responsibility as Dadra & Nagar Haveli administrator on December 30, the same year.

In an effort to reduce duplication of services and usher in greater efficiency in administration, the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi merged the two union territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu in January 2020. As administrator of the two union territories, Praful Patel provided essential suggestions and inputs on the merger and played a vital role in the creation of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

“Over the last five years, we have adopted a holistic and integrated approach for the development of the union territory. The focus has been on improving both the ease of living and doing business through effective administration. We have worked on strengthening healthcare delivery systems, boosting education, infrastructure development, employment generation, and other fields to achieve the two objectives,” said Praful Patel.

“We have laid the groundwork and are accelerating the efforts that have been made in five years to take the union territory to new heights by harnessing its full potential,” he added.

As far as healthcare is concerned, the Vinoba Bhave civil hospital in Silvassa has been expanded into a 650-bed multi-specialty hospital. The 185-bed government hospital at Daman is being upgraded to a 300-bed hospital. Several health & wellness centres have been established in the union territory to ensure easy healthcare access for people.

The focus on healthcare and the upgraded infrastructure played a crucial role in the union territory’s effective handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. The union territory remained Covid-free until June 1, 2020, i.e., for nearly five months after the country reported its first Covid-19 case. There have been zero Covid-19 deaths in the UT. Moreover, 100% of the eligible population had received at least one of the Covid-19 vaccine doses by June-end. The drive to administer the second dose is continuing at full pace.

To boost primary education, more than 20 new school buildings are being built across the union territory, and an education hub is coming up at Silvassa. Hundreds of classrooms have also been transformed into smart classrooms to make learning interactive and exciting.

Multiple initiatives have also been taken in higher education, including coaching for JEE / NEET, setting up a medical college in Silvassa, offering paramedical courses, a new nursing college, and an engineering college in Daman. An education hub has been established in Diu, which is also home to the International campus of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara.

To ensure employment generation through industrial investments, the UT came up with an Industrial Policy in 2018, followed by one this year, to attract fresh investments. Nearly 5,000 new industries have been registered in the UT from 2016 to 2020, creating more than 75,000 jobs. A single window portal, investment facilitation centre, business reforms action plan, reducing and simplifying regulatory compliances, among other steps, have contributed to Ease of Doing Business in the UT.

Tourism is another area that has seen a significant thrust since 2016. The beautification of Diu fort, heritage walk in Diu, development of tent cities at various places, sound & light show at Diu, beautification projects, besides popular events and festivals such as Monsoon Magic Festival, Daman Festival, Book Festival, etc. have helped in attracting more tourists to the union territory. The Blue Flag beach certification award to Diu’s Ghoghla beach in October last year underscores the administration’s efforts to boost tourism.

The unification of the union territory, multiple digitalisation projects, mergers and repeal of various laws, complaint management system, and the e-office project aimed at paperless administration are among the numerous steps since 2016 to ensure greater efficiency and transparency in administration.

  • Engineer turned into Astrologer, Music Producer & Became a TEDx Speaker.

August 27: Today, we have the Youngest Astrologer invited to the TEDx event from India and across the world. He is serving people from all over the world. Even some celebrities from Bollywood are also in his clientele. He is an Astrologer and a fantastic Music Producer who has made Music for brands like Zomato, Gomechanic, Real Juice, SpiceJet & many more.

Question: Every story has a beginning; tell us how it all began? What inspired you to study astrology?

Reply: It began in my late teens, precisely during my boards. Back in Agra, I was always a good student, and astronomy fascinated me. However, my mark sheet never supported my diligence or intelligence. One day, my parents decided to take me to an astrologer to find out the cause of the not-so-impressive mark sheets.

The astrologer pointed many Doshas or malefic combinations in my chart and held them responsible for the unfair results of the exams.

He took a substantial amount from my parents to perform “remedies” for me. I still remember it was a chilly and foggy January morning, and I woke up to take a dip in the river to perform the veneration or Hawan. My hands froze during the ritual, and my digits ached with numbness. Hahaha! I was wondering why I am being subjected to this torture.

But I didn’t see a speck of improvement in my academic scores. After a while, I found another astrologer who rejected the existence of any Dosha in my chart. Instead, he gave a pragmatic and straightforward remedy which helped me more than anything else. And I realized that astrology is not fake but finding a genuine astrologer is one of the hardest nuts to crack.

Q: I see! However, we all know that you’re an engineer and a musician too. How did that happen?

Reply: Honestly, I aspired to be a musician, but I was equally good in science (as you know Middle class me Doctor, Engineer se upar nahi sochte, to un me se main Engineering mein acha tha, So I dropped engineering not by force but by choice and started exploring the world of Music and Later I started studying astrology also (as I had a varied interest) with total devotion and then I realized that my interest in Music wasn’t accidental. I was destined to be a music producer.

Meanwhile, I started giving random predictions to friends and family. I was testing my knowledge, but to my surprise, people started coming back to me saying that my prediction hit the bullseye. During this time, my predictions reached one astrology enthusiast, who invited me to the “TEDx Talk.” I am the youngest astrologers to speak at TEDx Talk. It encouraged me to start pursuing astrology professionally.

Q: That was indeed a magical story. And during my research, I came across your Instagram. I was genuinely impressed with your take on Indian mythology. Would you like to tell us about it?

Reply: Honestly, it can be called a by-product of my astrological experiments. I was taught a lot of mythical stories by my mother when I was growing up in Agra. But the astrological texts fueled my curiosity to explore more. My YouTube channel is another effort to educate the youth about our rich heritage.

Q: So, how do you describe yourself as an astrologer, a musician, or a mythologist?

Reply: (Giggles) I think being an engineer or science geek has always helped me keep myself practical and logical towards Vedic science. Music has helped me understand people’s emotions, and astrology has given me the knowledge. So when you have all these three “Logic,” Emotion,” & “Knowledge”, then I think you can become a better person and guide.

Q: That was very smart! What are your plans ahead?

Reply: I want to produce more Music, and I want to show the authentic Vedic Astrology and depth so that people can recognize the potential of this ancient science of India.

Q: Where have you learned Astrology & Music? Do you have or had any gurus?

Reply: Initially, I started with self-study, and later, I began learning Astrology from Late Shri Santlal Kumar but right now, I am under the guidance of Shri Shubham Alok only. As I believe, you can’t excel without Guru’s blessings.

I learned Music under Ustad Mohsin Niazi from Agra Gharana.

Q: What irks you most as an astrologer?

Reply: Inability of people to accept the truth and inability to look beyond Money & Relationship.

Q: A message for our readers?

Reply: According to our Vedas, life is perishable, which is the blunt truth. But Humans are accustomed to seven blessings in life, but nobody has them all, not even Gods. So whenever you feel discouraged, remember this thought and keep progressing in life.

We are an end to end tech-enabled construction company with an in-house team of planning managers, architects, structural engineers and project management team.

How is Design and Construct different from other building and construction companies?

As the industry is growing, a significant size of the companies aims at enlarging business by targeting only high valued projects such as commercial places, residential apartments & high valued Individual residential homes but not affordable Individual residential homes.

We have in-house team Architects, Project managers and construction experts, and we also provide a platform to clients to manage and track all the progress on site. Considering the untreated market, both in terms of value & volume of these individual residential projects and the projects that are being constructed in unorganised systems, we felt that we could create a new business module that is Tech-driven like a one-stop solution to the customers by accepting these projects & providing the services in an organized manner.

What is your take on sustainable construction, and what is your company doing in that direction?

Since we are a company providing customised home construction and as per our client requirements, we advise our clients to go for sustainable homes, which primarily mean the impact of construction on the environment. We suggest our clients to use sustainable building materials such as Bamboo, recycled plastic and laminated timbers. Also, we use building methods that enhance renewable and sustainable efforts.

How do you see the Indian realty sector shaping up? What is your vision for future urban development?

The current individual construction sector is close to 2 Billion Dollars in India. Customers are arranging their own contractors and architects both by themselves or going to PMC (Project management companies) with a lot of pinch to their time and money. We want to be the number one Prop- tech Company for Affordable construction solutions across the country and a well-reputed global Company.

Construction companies traditionally invest less than 1 per cent of revenue in technology. What are your views?

Technology is transforming Indian real estate. What new technologies have you incorporated in the construction work of your projects?

We have introduced a mobile app, where the clients can track all at one go (payments tracker, Project schedule, Contact the team assigned, 2D & 3D plans of their home and also live updates from their site). This app also enables to generate reports and do validation of work on the ground.

What initiatives should the government take to aid the recovery of the real estate sector from the crisis caused by the pandemic?

    • Vaccinating the Labours.

Control on the increasing material prices, which will help us to reduce the rising cost of projects.

  • Want to become a doctor? Cannot Afford High tuition fees in Pvt / Deemed Colleges of India?

Pune, August 27: An expert and certified career counselor for international studies at India to International, a leading career counseling firm in Pune, predicts a 25 per cent increase in the number of applicants opting to study MBBS abroad compared to 2020. The number of applications for the exam NEET-UG received by NTA since its launch in 2017 has increased every year. This year we are seeing the same trend with students. The most significant factor that worries an applicant is the competition. From this year, the Government of India has decided to introduce 27% OBC reservation (Non-Creamy Layer) and 10% EWS reservation for 15% graduate seats (UG) in All India Quota (MBBS/BDS) (provided by states/UTs on Central Pool). Applicants who want to pursue MBBS studies in government institutions or at Pvt Institutions where the fee is affordable will face stiffer competition for these seats. Ultimately, some will not make it, and some will succeed. We have grown fond of those who fail to make it year after year, and we genuinely feel sorry for these families. These days, the NEET – UG exam has become a family affair. Everyone in the family of NEET aspirants is making sacrifices in one way or the other. India to International Counselors understands this severe problem for those who fail to make it. We want to educate all the candidates and their parents through this article that this is not the end of the road; we are among the dedicated professionals who help students with personal, emotional, and psychological problems while they try to pursue their dream careers. India to International is aware of this bitter reality that money is a crucial factor in the world and our times. As bad as it may sound, sometimes people have to compromise on their choice of studies if they cannot afford it. At India to International, our counselors motivate candidates and make them understand that while the money factor may influence their career choice, it should not be the only factor that makes them abandon their dream journey midway. If they are willing to put in the effort and make some minor adjustments, such as living far away from their hometown, they can still dream of becoming a successful doctor.

As a company, we offer admission to the best world-class universities around the world at Affordable Budget. Why does India International promote MBBS to study abroad? Firstly, the fee structure at universities abroad is very affordable compared to many Pvt Medical College or Deemed Universities in India. The universities we offer are mainly Govt. Universities in Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Italy, Hungary, etc. Secondly, unlike in India, Universities/Institutes abroad provide students with state-of-the-art facilities for a holistic educational experience. Thirdly, universities have top-notch faculty members and offer internationally recognized degrees to the students to make a name for themselves in their field across the globe. Universities and colleges abroad also provide students with the highest level of security to feel at home in a foreign country. Fourth, many state universities abroad use English as the primary language of instruction and communication at medical schools to attract international students.

However, applicants should note that it is always an advantage to be proficient in the local language. Exposure of the research opportunities available to students in foreign universities is far greater than in India, even at the undergraduate level. Since the medical industry is global and well-connected, an MBBS graduate from abroad is not just limited to his home country but can also apply for various PG courses or entrance exams. What do we do? What is our mission? We take great care to offer college to different applicants, considering their learning style, budget, aptitude, and individual suitability for the weather. We also educate students on the importance of being aware that course durations vary from country to country. We also advise students on the choice of course based on duration and give them insights into the differences between a 4, 5, or 6-year MBBS program abroad with or without internships in India and abroad. We also ensure that all candidates choose the right accredited college. The NExT exam will be implemented in 2023 for Indian MBBS graduates and foreign medical graduates applying for licensure in India. We have Exclusive Tie-Ups with various reputed Indian Faculties /speakers, which will prepare our students for the NExT exam at the beginning of the fourth year. For more information on MBBS admission abroad, NExT exam, and Alumni support.
