Unveiling Lost Treasure – A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

The Chairman Mr. Dani Chand with his daughter in the center Rina Chand (CFO) along with Vicky Chand (CEO), Roshan Chand (COO) towards his left and Bheeshma Chand (CMO) on his right

New Delhi (India), November 29: Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Karbi Anglong, one of the only two hill districts in the state of Assam, Radiant Northeast India Co., is a family-owned and operated Alcobev business that embodies the Assamese term “Lahe Lahe” roughly translating to “Whats the hurry take it easy”.

From a humble beginning as a liquor retail shop owner, Mr. Dani Chand steered the company to become a premier manufacturer of quality alcoholic beverages in Northeast India. The Chairman humbly acknowledges “Our growth is a testament to our team’s dedication and the unwavering support of our patrons“.  Mr. Dani Chand, who built the company from scratch, has involved his children in the business and has given them the opportunity to shape its future.

Founded in 2006 on the ethos of excellence, innovation, and legacy, Raizel Circle by Vicky Chand the eldest son embodies the very same commitment to redefine the landscape of spirits with products that resonate across generations. Vicky Chand, can be considered as a visionary scion and his global odyssey across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Scotland has provided him the canvas for innovative creations, blending tradition with a modern twist.

It is with this approach that Lost Treasure was launched during the Diwali of 2023 in Assam. This launch not only signifies a milestone but also reflects the company’s dedication to collaborating with kindred spirits to expand its footprint across India and beyond.

Lost Treasure is more than a beverage; it’s an experience—an invitation to savour the depths of our craftsmanship,” expresses Mr. Vicky Chand, illuminating the essence of this remarkable creation. Embracing Assam’s diversity and spirit of adventure, this elixir is christened ‘Lost Treasure,’ evoking an air of mystery and allure. The slogan, “Stronger than coffee, smoother than a love song,” is aimed at creating a fun engagement that the drink embodies.

But a question beckons why coffee and why Coffee Rum?

To which Mr. Vicky Chand replied that Lost Treasure has NO added sugar, colour or rum flavour. A unique ‘Cold Brew’ method is used to add flavour and colour where in the coffee flavours are allowed to steep into the blend by letting it rest for upto 24 hours. Additionally the meticulous blend of pure cane, grain, malt spirits give the rum its sweetness.

The rum does seem like an absolute gem for mixologists inviting exploration throughout the year from hot toddies to summer mojitos or monsoon lattes. Upon taking a sip you will agree that Lost Treasure does embody the essence of purity that can be found in Northeast India.

Accompanying Lost Treasure are other distinguished offerings, including Castle Hill Dark Knight Small Batch Whiskey, a testament to collaboration with Master Blender & Distiller John Mc Doughall, and the vibrant Vinho Porto Wines—a symphony of Port, White, Red, and Cranberry wines. Surprisingly they also have been serving for over a decade with graceful sophistication White Magic Tango Gin & Orange.

As per Mr. Vicky Chand the company is a small family run business that is open to collaborations with like-minded individuals and teams who want a share the treasures he and his team members have uncovered. He is hopeful that with the growing interest being garnered by Northeast India new opportunities will open up to improve the availability & visibility of the local craft spirits brands across India & abroad.

Join the Chand family on this odyssey by following them to uncover avenues to experience the captivating essence of Lost Treasure and its companions. We hope the Chands successfully manage to stay true to the values of tradition and innovation.

  • Maharashtra Makes Its Mark In Multimodal Connectivity

Maharashtra Makes Its Mark In Multimodal Connectivity

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 29: Maharashtra seems to have become synonymous with development and progress. The state has definitely made its mark in multimodal connectivity comprising roads, highways, expressways, railways, sea, and waterways. This shows how the state government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Dy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is focused on what brings up multidimensional development across entire Maharashtra. It is in this context that Maharashtra’s maritime development policy is talk of the town. It is dominating discourse at the central level as well, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi keenly waiting for the Maharashtra government to implement the maritime development plans.

A couple of weeks ago, CM Shinde at an event announced that the much-awaited International Cruise Terminal (ICT) in Mumbai will be ready and made operational to handle cruisers from all over the world by 2024. He shared this information at the Global Maritime India Summit inaugurated by PM Modi two weeks ago. The plan is obviously huge. The ICT will have a capacity to handle 200 cruise ships and one million passengers per annum. In fact, in order to give a fillip to maritime tourism in Maharashtra, the state government has chalked out a five-year maritime policy offering incentives to business owners and tourists alike along with building various infrastructure projects. For the maritime tourism project to be reality, the state has worked on developing a huge infrastructure consisting of road networks.

Infrastructure for private ports is also being developed. The idea behind the maritime project is to boost tourism, shipbuilding, repair and recycling industries.  With CM Shinde in a hurry to implement this maritime policy, the Maharashtra government’s War Room has swung into action. The team in War Room is coordinating with the maritime experts and other concerned agencies including Maharashtra Maritime Board to fast-track this project. Land acquisition will also be a significant part of this project along the coastal areas where ship building and repairing capacity has to be enhanced. Veteran bureaucrat Radheshyam Mopalwar, War Room DG for Infra Projects, is said to be instrumental in implementation of this project as well. His competence in land related matters and other technical aspects of infra development is of great use for the government. The existing road networks attributable to Mopalwar’s hard work and guidance will be of great significance in implementation of maritime projects as tourism inflow could be augmented with strong road networks in place. Economic aspects of the upcoming maritime projects are being looked into by the officials in War Room led by Mopalwar. The incentives in the policy include land on lease for marinas. Financial factors related to leasing out of land are also being dealt with by the economic experts in War Room and Maharashtra Maritime Board. The incentives include land on lease for marinas, ship building-repairing, ship recycling facilities and concessions in tickets for floatels, amphibious buses, houseboats, seaplanes, and dinner cruise.

In addition to this, more road and rail infrastructure for private ports will be developed and streamlined. As a matter of fact, Maharashtra has huge maritime advantages. The state has a 720-km long coastline, two major ports, more than 14 major and intermediate ports and numerous bays. All of this contributes significantly to the growth of India’s maritime trade. The maritime development policy is learnt to have adopted a cluster-based approach to developing shipbuilding and ship repairing industries. Suitable locations are being ascertained for developing ship recycling facilities along the coastline. The policy proposes a 30-year lease for Marina projects, and 15-years for floatels, houseboats and seaplanes. With the maritime project of such a huge proportion in mind, CM Shinde has given the War Room a challenging task to coordinate and participate in entire planning with the relevant agencies responsible for this sector. The War Room will be a key agency to assist and monitor the activities aimed at developing infrastructure for the purpose of maritime projects. Ensuring smooth transportation by rail and road will also be a crucial area to be facilitated with active participation of the War Room.

CM Shinde has committed to resolve the various issues and expedite the implementation of the 114 projects worth Rs. 99,210 crore under the Sagarmala Programme in Maharashtra. This is another big task that the state agencies including War Room are looking after on a priority basis. ‘Coastal States Pavilion’ has been proposed to be developed in the National Maritime Heritage Complex. Accordingly for the state of Maharashtra, land area of 14,000 sq. ft. with construction area of 6,000- 8,000 sq. ft. has been identified in the periphery of the Coastal States Pavilion of the NMHC site. The Maharashtra State Government is expected to avail this opportunity and make a grand display of the Maritime History of the Maratha empire and Great Shivaji Maharaj.

  • Savings Beyond Imagination: Cost Benefits of Implementing Digital Twins in AEC

Savings Beyond Imagination: Cost Benefits of Implementing Digital Twins in AEC

Vijay Gupta, Founder, Chairman & CEO, SoftTech Engineers Limited

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], November 29: In the ever-evolving world of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), staying ahead of the curve is vital for success. One innovative technology that is changing the game in this industry is the concept of Digital Twins. Digital Twins are virtual replicas of physical structures or systems, providing a real-time, data-driven representation of a project. Beyond their capability to improve project management and efficiency, Digital Twins also promise substantial cost benefits that are often beyond imagination. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the potential savings that AEC professionals can enjoy by embracing Digital Twins.

Early Detection and Mitigation of Issues:

In the conventional AEC process, issues often surface during the construction phase, leading to costly delays and rework. Digital Twins, however, allow for early issue detection and mitigation through predictive analytics and real-time monitoring. For instance, structural flaws or design inconsistencies can be identified before construction begins, reducing the need for expensive alterations down the line.

    Optimized Energy Efficiency:

Sustainable construction and energy efficiency are top priorities in modern AEC projects. Digital Twins can simulate a building’s energy performance, allowing designers and engineers to make informed decisions about materials, insulation, and HVAC systems. This can result in significant long-term cost savings through reduced energy consumption and lower maintenance costs.

    Reduced Material Waste:

The construction industry generates massive amounts of waste, from excess materials to discarded prototypes. Digital Twins can help minimize this waste by enabling precise material requirements and reducing over-ordering. This not only saves on procurement costs but also contributes to sustainability goals.

    Streamlined Project Management:

Effective project management is critical for cost control. Digital Twins provide a centralized platform for collaboration and data sharing, improving communication among project stakeholders. This streamlines project management, reducing the likelihood of miscommunication, disputes, and costly delays.

    Virtual Reality Training and Safety:

Safety in construction is paramount, and accidents can result in substantial financial and human costs. Digital Twins offer the ability to create immersive training simulations for construction workers and safety personnel. Through virtual reality training, workers can become better equipped to avoid accidents, resulting in reduced medical and legal expenses.

    Life Cycle Cost Analysis:

AEC projects have long-term implications, and decisions made during the design and construction phases can significantly impact ongoing maintenance and operation costs. Digital Twins provide the capability to conduct life cycle cost analyses, helping project stakeholders make cost-effective decisions that take into account the entire life span of the structure.

    Improved Maintenance and Asset Management:

Once a building is complete, Digital Twins continue to provide cost-saving benefits. Real-time data from sensors and IoT devices can be integrated into the Digital Twin, allowing for predictive maintenance. By identifying potential issues before they become critical, maintenance costs are reduced, and the lifespan of building systems is extended.

    Remote Monitoring and Control:

The ability to monitor and control building systems remotely is a significant cost-saving feature of Digital Twins. This enables faster response times to issues, reducing downtime and maintenance expenses. Additionally, it can lead to energy cost savings by allowing for real-time adjustments to optimize efficiency.

In conclusion, the adoption of Digital Twins in AEC projects offers cost benefits that extend far beyond traditional construction methods. Early issue detection, energy efficiency optimization, reduced material waste, streamlined project management, safety training, life cycle cost analysis, improved maintenance, and remote monitoring all contribute to substantial savings. AEC professionals who harness the power of Digital Twins are better positioned to complete projects on time and within budget, while also contributing to the broader goals of sustainability and safety. The cost benefits of Digital Twins are not just within imagination; they are becoming a reality for those who embrace this transformative technology.

  • Maharashtra Gives Wing To Project Under ‘PM GatiShakti’ Plan

Maharashtra Gives Wing To Project Under ‘PM GatiShakti’ Plan

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious project about the country’s huge infrastructure development under “PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP)” has been fast-tracked by Maharashtra. One of the six more projects cleared under GatiShakti plan in September this year is a green-field road project in Gujarat and Maharashtra covering Navsari, Nashik and Ahmednagar districts. Getting into action with its team of competent and skilled officers in the War Room, the Maharashtra government is coordinating with the central officials and experts at a fast pace so as to ensure that the Maharashtra part of the project is completed on time.

The Maharashtra officials are coordinating efficiently with their Gujarat counterparts also on the project. An NHAI official informed that the agency has awarded a contract to prepare a detailed report for the green field stretch between Surat and Ahmednagar via Nashik.  The Maharashtra War Room for Infrastructure Projects is assisting the Central teams in preparation of report and planning. Radheshyam Mopalwar, the 1995 batch IAS officer, is playing a key role in this. Mopalwar’s administrative skills and his command over various components that go into successful completion of expressway projects help the War Room to fast-track the green-field stretch of the PM GatiShakti project.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in a recently held meeting reviewed the progress of this project where Mopalwar shared the updates. The state government and the Central government will be relying on Mopalwar once the land acquisition part of the project gets underway. Mopalwar has proved his mettle in similar exercises in the past, particularly when he spearheaded the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg, a major part of which has already been dedicated to the public. Government officials believe that the land acquisition process for the green field stretch under PM GatiShakti will be a complex exercise that will pose challenges. CM Shinde and Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis are confident that War Room DG Mopalwar will be able to overcome these challenges.

In fact, PM Modi is expecting the Maharashtra government to be one of the states where projects under GatiShakti will be completed within a set time frame. The work has already begun in Maharashtra, with War Room discussing and reviewing the project on a daily basis. The Surat-Ahmednagar stretch of the green field project under PM GatiShakti is expected to contribute to the overall socio-economic development of tribal and backward districts such as Navsari, Valsad and Nashik by providing easy and convenient connectivity. The Central government officials say that the stretch will also benefit the tourism sector in the region and will connect aspirational districts such as Osmanabad in Maharashtra.

With the stretch set to fuel the economy of Maharashtra after completion, the Shinde-Fadnavis government is sparing no effort to ensure that the project sees the light of the day as soon as possible. Fast completion of the initial process such as planning and land acquisition will be true to Maharashtra’s reputation so far.

The government in September had approved six more infrastructure projects worth ₹51,700 crore under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP).  The 56th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) that met under PM GatiShakti had cleared six project proposals — four related to the ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) worth ₹45,000 crore and two rail ministry projects worth ₹6,700 crore, it said. The union cabinet on October 21, 2021 approved the PM GatiShakti NMP, which is executed through a three-layer institutional mechanism – the Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGOS), the Network Planning Group (NPG) and the Technical Support Unit (TSU). The states will also help the Central government in implementation, monitoring and support mechanisms  for providing multi-modal connectivity.

Mopalwar and other members of the War Room are said to have gathered every detail of the green field stretch of Surat-Ahmednagar. They will be interacting with the central officials on this, and keep updating the NHAI on this. The War Room will give a deep insight into how the stretch could benefit the rural population on the lines of the Samruddhi Mahamarg which was praised also by PM Modi when he had opened its first phase of around 480 kms stretch.

Since PM GatiShakti National Master Plan is aimed at transforming the nation’s infrastructure, the Central government officials are also said to be studying Maharashtra road connectivity projects such as Samruddhi Mahamarg to understand the nitty-gritty of the stretch which will pass through Maharashtra regions.  It was on October 13, 2021 when PM Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti (PMGS) scheme with the aim to break the inter-ministerial tangles and silos and foster cooperation and integration in the fast-track implementation of projects. The scheme is expected to smooth out the execution of projects across the nation and foster coordination between different ministries engaged with these projects.
