He proved his mettle by establishing Dawar Footwear Industries, a venture that later earned the prestigious title of a “Star Export House.” Under his visionary guidance, the company became a major player in the footwear industry, boosting India’s prominence in the global market.

    However, Puran Dawar’s contributions went beyond the realm of business. As a Member of the Board in the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), he worked tirelessly to create an enabling environment for the growth and development of small and medium enterprises, which are the backbone of India’s economy.

    Not content with personal success, Puran Dawar was committed to fostering collective growth in the footwear industry. In 2003, he founded the Agra Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Chamber (AFMEC) and assumed its leadership. Under his guidance, AFMEC emerged as a strong voice, advocating for the interests of footwear manufacturers and exporters. His exceptional leadership earned him the position of heading AFMEC from 2003 to 2005 and being re-elected as President in 2009, establishing him as a respected industry leader.

    Amidst his busy schedule, Puran Dawar did not lose sight of his responsibility towards society. In 1998, he founded the Saksham Dawar Memorial in loving memory of his beloved son, Saksham Dawar. This memorial stands as a touching tribute to his son’s memory and reflects the depth of love and compassion in Puran Dawar’s heart.

    Puran Dawar’s commitment to community welfare was further evident in his role as the President of the Agra Development Foundation (ADF). Under his able leadership, the foundation initiated several transformative projects, including the Yamuna Frontside Project, aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and preserving its natural beauty for future generations.

    His family background played a significant role in shaping his values and outlook on life. Puran Dawar’s family migrated to Agra from Pakistan after the traumatic partition in 1947. The hardships and challenges they faced, seeking shelter in a refugee camp at Malpura, left an indelible mark on his character, instilling in him empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility.

    Puran Dawar’s association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a young age in 1965 instilled in him the values of discipline, patriotism, and a sense of duty towards the nation.

    Today, Agra stands in gratitude for the contributions of its very own Ratan Tata, Puran Dawar, whose entrepreneurial brilliance, compassionate heart, and dedication to social upliftment have transformed lives and communities. His vision and leadership continue to inspire generations, and his legacy will remain a guiding light for future leaders and changemakers.

    Surat (Gujarat) [India], August 3: BigBloc Construction Ltd, one of India’s largest manufacturers of Aerated Autoclaved Concrete (AAC) Blocks, Bricks and Panels has reported consolidated net profit of Rs. 5.90 crore (PAT margin 10.7%) for the Q1 FY 2023-24 ended June 2023, growth of 6.2% Q-o-Q as compared to the net profit of Rs. 5.56 crore (PAT margin 11.7%) in Q4 FY22-23. Total income during Q1 FY 2023-24 was reported at Rs. 54.94 crore, rise of 16.3% Q-o-Q as compared to total income of Rs. 47.24 crore in Q4 FY 2022-23. EBITDA for Q1 FY2023-24 stood at Rs. 12.71 crore (EBITDA Margin 23.1%), rise of 12.5% as against EBITDA of Rs. ‌‌‌‌‌11.30 crore (EBITDA Margin 23.9%) in Q4 FY2022-23. EPS for Q1FY24 stood at Rs. 0.85 per share.

    Incorporated in 2015, BigBloc Construction Ltd is one of the largest and only listed company in the AAC Block Space with an installed capacity of 8.25 lakh cbm per annum. Green and non-toxic building construction material, AAC blocks are economical, lightweight, soundproof, fire resistant with superior build quality and saves energy, eco-friendly and economical too compared to traditional bricks.     The Company’s joint venture company with Thailand’s SCG Group, M/s. SIAM Cement Big Bloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd has placed an order for supply of Machinery & Technical Services for setting up its Kapadvanj Plant for manufacturing of AAC Blocks. The company is setting up 3 lakh cbm per annum plant for ALC Panels and AAC Blocks at Kapadvanj Ahmedabad (Gujarat). The Company has acquired 60,000 sq mtrs land for the project and completed banking tie-up for financing the project. The plant is expected to start commercial production in FY 2023-24.

    The Company’s wholly owned subsidiary – Bigbloc Building Elements Pvt Ltd has recently commenced commercial production for AAC Block plant at Wada in Palghar, Maharashtra to meet growing demand of AAC blocks in Western India. At full capacity, Wada plant is expected to generate revenues of Rs. 200 crore per year and will employ around 350-400 people at the plant.

    “The company has successfully completed Phase I of the Wada project and invested around Rs. 48 crores. We expect to start work on Phase 2 in the current financial year itself. Post completion of all expansion, the company’s total capacities will increase to 13.75 lakh cbm per annum making it the largest manufacturer of AAC block in the country. The Company will be in a better position to serve the growing demand of AAC blocks in Western India and strengthen its leadership position in the AAC block space in India. The Company expects to generate around 2.5 to 3 lakh units of carbon credit every year post expansion,” said Mr. Mohit Saboo, Director & CFO, BigBloc Construction Ltd.

    • Capacity utilization for the quarter was around 75% due to lower capacity utilization of subsidiary Bigbloc Building Elements Private Ltd’s greenfield project at Wada. Plant at Wada started commercial production in May 2023 and capacity utilisation was low as the ISI certification was not received in the first quarter.
    • The company has added Reliance Life Sciences to its list of esteemed customers and also started supplying to new projects of Adani.  
    • The company has placed an order for supply of Machinery & Technical Services for manufacturing of AAC Blocks for its Joint Venture Co., M/s. SIAM Cement Big Bloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd (Joint Venture with M/s. SCG International India Private Ltd).

    Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 3: Excelia acquires the premises of its Paris site, thereby securing a fourth campus of its own, with the aim of contributing to Excelia’s development strategy in the French capital. This real estate transaction is an integral part of the group’s strategic plan, and it is envisaged that some 1,500 learners will be studying on the Paris-Cachan campus within the next 3 years. This acquisition represents an investment of €25 million.

    Just one year after inaugurating its Paris operations on the campus of aivancity in Paris-Cachan, Excelia is now acquiring the premises. The building boasts a total floor area of some 4,000m², over 4 levels, with a capacity for up to 1,800 students.

    This acquisition provides Excelia with a Paris-based site, its 4th very own campus to complement those in La Rochelle, Tours, and Orleans.

    An ‘Industry 5.0’ campus

    As one of the most technologically connected campuses in France, Excelia’s Paris site has been designed to offer a unique learning experience. Its innovative layout fosters discussion and sharing, and includes creativity zones, 15 hi-tech work rooms, 30 cubicles for group work, etc. This experiential learning environment is at the heart of the Paris-Cachan higher education hub, which brings together several major schools, including the EPF School of Engineering.

    Hyderabad (Telangana) [India],  August 2: Formula E’s first-ever race in India, the 2023 Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix, hosted in collaboration with the Government of Telangana and Ace Nxt Gen, delivered an economic impact of nearly $84 million, according to an independent report published today.  

    The in-depth economic study conducted by Nielsen Sports Analysis calculated an $83.7 million uplift to the Hyderabad economy as a result of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s debut race in India on Saturday, 11 February. 

    • $83.7 million in direct, indirect and induced impact from spending in the Hyderabad region for the 2023 Greenko Hyderabad     E-Prix.
    • $4.8 million generated from events and activations by teams Mahindra Racing and Jaguar TCS Racing, championship sponsors ABB and DHL, local race partners such as Greenko Group and Jio as well as associations with the Hyderabad E-Mobility Week, organised by the Government of Telangana.
    • $4 million spent on hotels and accommodation in the area.
    • $3.5 million created in media value across TV, online, print and social media.
    • $1.8 million spent in local restaurants on food and beverage.

    Formula E’s only double champion, Jean-Éric Vergne, won the highly competitive race, watched live in more than 150 countries around the world and attended by a host of dignitaries, Bollywood celebrities and sports stars.
