Technology trends that have poised to transform the nature of BFSI industry

By Neerja Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director, New India Assurance

New Delhi (India), May 10: India’s general insurance sector is on the verge of a technology revolution that would fundamentally alter the way the sector operates. Since the development of technology, insurers have been able to improve client satisfaction, offer better goods and services, and streamline their business processes. Several significant technological advancements are expected to significantly alter the Indian insurance market over the next decade. To enumerate some of these trends in detail:

Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI)

The insurance sector in India is expected to undergo major change as a result of AI and ML. Insurance companies are utilising AI and ML to streamline their underwriting and claims procedures as well as create new products that are more suited to the demands of their customers. Additionally, risk assessment, fraud detection, and consumer engagement are being enhanced by AI and ML. These technologies enable insurers to swiftly and accurately process massive amounts of data, which improves decision-making and the client experience.

    The “Internet of Things”

The way insurers gather and analyse data is about to undergo a change thanks to the IoT. To track customers’ actions, analyse their risk profiles, and monitor their behaviour, insurers are employing IoT devices like wearables and telematics. Fraud detection and prevention are other applications for IoT devices. This information can be used by insurers to provide individualised goods and services that are more suited to client requirements. For instance, a company may provide a pay-as-you-go auto insurance plan based on the customer’s driving behaviour.

    Blockchain

By offering a safe and open platform for transactions, blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionise the insurance sector. Blockchain technology allows insurers to securely store and share data, which can lower fraud and increase transparency. Additionally, blockchain can assist insurers in streamlining their claims procedures and lowering expenses. Smart contracts can be used by insurers to automate the claims processing process, which can cut down on the time and work needed to resolve claims.

    Chatbots and Virtual Assistants

Insurance companies are utilising chatbots and virtual assistants to enhance customer service and cut expenses. Customers can get basic assistance from chatbots, who can also make tailored recommendations. Complex questions can be handled by virtual assistants, who can also offer tailored guidance. These tools can help insurers increase client engagement and loyalty.

    Cybersecurity

Given the growing frequency of cyber-attacks, insurers are extremely concerned about cybersecurity. Insurance companies are investing in cybersecurity systems to safeguard client information and stop data breaches. Firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems are some of these technologies. These technologies can be used by insurers to safeguard consumer data and preserve their good name.

    Cloud computing:

Insurance companies are using cloud computing to boost productivity and cut expenses. Insurance companies can store and analyse data using cloud-based solutions, which can help them avoid investing in costly IT infrastructure. Access to real-time data and improved team collaboration are two other benefits of cloud computing that can help you make better decisions.

In conclusion, technological improvements are causing a radical upheaval in the Indian insurance sector. Insurers are utilising technology like AI, ML, IoT, blockchain, chatbots, virtual assistants, cybersecurity, and cloud computing to enhance customer experience, improve business operations, and provide better goods and services. These innovations might completely alter the way Indian insurers conduct business and open new avenues for expansion and financial success. In order to stay competitive in the market, insurers must adopt these technologies and stay on top of emerging trends.

  • Nick Cassidy Triumphs In Monaco To Take Formula E World Championship Lead – 2023 Monaco E-Prix Report

Nick Cassidy Triumphs In Monaco To Take Formula E World Championship Lead – 2023 Monaco E-Prix Report

    • Nick Cassidy and team Envision Racing power to the top of the Drivers’ and Teams’ world championship standings after victory in Monaco
    • Mitch Evans finishes second to keep Jaguar TCS Racing in the hunt for titles
    • Third place for Jake Dennis who also moves up to third in the Drivers’ standings
    • Jean-Éric Vergne claims inaugural ABB Driver of Progress race award, as more than 20,000 fans attended the Monaco E-Prix

Monaco, May 10: Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing) fired to the top of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with a storming drive from ninth on the grid to win the race in an absorbing 2023 Monaco E-Prix.

Cassidy led home Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing), having fended off his countryman until a late-race Safety Car made the win certain.

The 150mph game of chess ebbed and flowed as leaders vied for control and to set the pace but Cassidy’s decisive early-race moves yielded the ultimate result. Once his engineer gave the green light for a six-lap sprint finish, Cassidy didn’t look back – despite the close attentions of Evans’ factory Jaguar.

Evans had himself clambered from sixth on the grid to second at the chequered flag and was within touching distance of the Envision right up to the Safety Car three laps from the race finish. That New Zealand one-two made it four wins in succession, a new Formula E record for a single nation.

Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti Formula E team) couldn’t quite live with the lead pair but he had torn through from 11th on the grid to make the final step on the podium.

Sacha Fenestraz (Nissan Formula E Team), who thought he had sealed the Julius Baer Pole Position only for a post-session penalty to hand that honour to Jake Hughes (NEOM McLaren Formula E Team), steered home to fourth, unable to compete with the lead trio’s benchmark combination of speed and efficiency. Hughes followed him across the line, with Dan Ticktum (NIO 333 Racing) hanging on for sixth position despite a couple of late-race scrapes and some damage to his car.

Long-time Drivers’ standings leader Pascal Wehrlein could only improve to 11th from starting 12th on the grid, which resulted in both the driver and his TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team losing their grip on their respective championships.

Fellow title contender Jean-Éric Vergne recovered to seventh from the very back of the grid after DS PENSKE’s tyre pressure infringements saw them disqualified from qualifying. The 15-position overtaking masterclass earned Vergne the inaugural ABB Driver of Progress race award, honouring intelligent, efficient driving resulting in the most places gained in a race.

Reigning world champion and DS PENSKE teammate Stoffel Vandoorne was also able to climb to the points with ninth place.

Cassidy’s 121 pts moves him ahead of Wehrlein on 100 pts in the Drivers’ table with Jake Dennis now third on 96 pts and Evans just behind on 94 pts. Vergne leaves Monaco fifth in the running.

Envision Racing now leap to the top of the Teams’ standings on 182 points, 14 points ahead of TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team on 168 points, while Jaguar TCS Racing sits third on 157 points.

Nick Cassidy, No. 37, Envision Racing, said: “It’s insane, I’ve got nothing against Berlin – but this feels amazing! This is so, so special. I’m lost for words. It is going to take a bit to sink in, man we had such a tough day, I was 21st I think in both Free Practices which struck me a lot. I qualified 10th and I was really happy with that, so that was kind of how our day was going. Credit to our guys, both car crews and everyone in our garage helped out with the issues. I am so happy we got the reward after the work.

“There is a long way to go, this guy right here Mitch (Evans) he showed today how bloody strong he is. It is going to be a really cool fight, but for the moment let’s just enjoy the fact we won in Monaco.”

Mitch Evans, No. 9, Jaguar TCS Racing, said: “Not the right position but I gave it my best today. Full credit to Nick and Envision, they did a great job. Nick passed me at the right time. I thought I had him but he made a good move on me and that was it. Another podium, we are on a good roll, so good points and that’s the main thing.

“(Would he have passed Cassidy without the Safety Car?) I’m not too sure, I kind of became locked out a bit after the Safety Car. There are a few moments in the race I wish I could do again, and may have had a different outcome, but it is what it is. Full credit to Nick and his team, but also my team, we have been doing a really good job but we just missed out today.”

Jake Dennis, No. 27, Avalanche Andretti Formula E Team, said: “Back on the podium, two races in a row again. I think I had to make it up to the boys after hitting the wall in my first lap. We had a car to start in the front two rows today. Mistake on my behalf, so I think I have some beer money for sure tonight to repay them! Super happy but a little disappointed in certain ways, we had the most efficient car but we didn’t quite optimise it with leading at the right point. It is a bit frustrating that you have 2% more than the cars in front but can’t do anything about it. Nevertheless really happy and we are back in the title hunt for sure – looking forward to celebrating with the boys tonight and enjoying it.”

Next stop in ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is a return to Indonesia for the first Jakarta E-Prix double-header with Round 10 on Saturday 3 June and Round 11 on Sunday 4 June.

IPS Academy’s Institute of Fashion Technology successfully organizes fashion show at World Textile Conference

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], May 10: The Institute of Fashion Technology at I.P.S. Academy, Indore, recently held a fashion show named “Eternity” during the Textile Association of India’s World Textile Conference. Through ten rounds of garments designed by the institute’s students under the supervision of their faculty, the show highlighted the eternal themes of God, nature, and India’s rich heritage.

The first phase of the competition included designs inspired by the 108 pillars of Mahakal Ujjain and scenes from Hindu mythology, such as the Samudra Manthan, Tripurasura Vadh, Kamal-Kund, Nandi Dwar, and Sapta Rishi. The second round of submissions comprised designs inspired by the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and sky. The unicorn motif was carried over to the third round, which included bright, pastel colours, glitter, and iridescent textiles.

The fourth round included clothing made in the colours of the setting sun, while the fifth round featured designs inspired by diverse aquatic species. The sixth round was themed Bhimbetka, and it attempted to give a look into the stone age via sculptures and drawings discovered in the rocks there. The seventh round included designs inspired by the Milky Way/Galaxy.

Denim was developed in a new approach in the eighth round, showing classic garments in a contemporary form. The ninth round included a sustainability theme, with denim vest pieces incorporated to the clothes to convey compassion for nature. The tenth and final round included clothing developed on the topic of ‘The Vishwaguru’ with accessories inspired by India’s legacy, such as gold, crimson, and green colours that signified India’s affluence, women, and agricultural domination.

A team of 40 persons from I.P.S. Academy’s Institute of Fashion Technology, including staff members and students, went from Indore to Ahmedabad to put on the show. All 60 garments featured in the show, which included traditional, western, indo-western, and saree designs, among others, were designed by IFT students with expert guidance from faculty members.

Over 1000 dignitaries, including textile industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and economists from around the world, attended the fashion show, including Mr. R.K. Vij, National President of the Textile Association of India, national vice-president TL Patel, national honorary general secretary Mahendra Patel, TAI MP’s office-bearers, speakers, and fashion experts from Thailand, Britain, the United States of America, Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Africa.

The exhibition so delighted RK Vij, national president of the Textile Association of India, that he proclaimed an award of Rs. 51000/- and handed a memento to I.P.S. Academy’s Institute of Fashion Technology.

Academy’s Institute of Fashion Technology, especially Principal Preeti Sarva, who conceptualised and organised the show, and Hemant Bandhav, H.O.D., who supervised interdepartmental cooperation. The working team was congratulated by Achal Chowdhary, President of IPS Academy, and Nikki Jain, Director.
