The content licensed comprises of original scripted multi-cast fiction as well as adapted and dramatised classic stories in the audio format.

    An initial slate of titles from this deal that have been created by The Foundry’s dedicated audio division have premiered on Audible’s service and their rollout continues in the coming months ahead. Debuted audiobooks include the robust Hindi adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes Ki Romanchak Kahaniyan) and Munshi Premchand’s masterfully distinct literary classic Karmabhoomi; about turmoil in common colonial living. In the pipeline is the delightful multicast Hindi adaptation production of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

    As a part of this deal, The Foundry will be licensing to Audible original series created by their Creator-in-Chief Vekeana Dhillon that will be selected from their in-house development catalogue of over 90 audio IP’s. This includes one of India’s first disaster audio series, Trapped, a powerhouse drama in which residents and rescuers grapple in the ruins of an urban high-rise building collapse, and a mind-bender of deception and suspense involving a coma patient in the mystery thriller The Woman in Bed#3.

    The Foundry has previously produced the popular audio show on Audible titled ‘Uncovidable’, which showcases the journey of a woman caught in the whirlwind of the nationwide lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic.  It is written by Vekeana Dhillon and voiced by Mahira Kakkar in English and Bollywood celebrity Rasika Duggal in Hindi.

    Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], December 21: MPL 35th National Under-9 Open and Girl’s Chess Championship is being organised for the first time in Madhya Pradesh. The competition is jointly organised by Indore Public School (IPS) and All Indore Chess Association. Somani, Tournament Directors; and Organizing Secretary International Master Mr. Akshat Khamparia informed that this “Mahakumbh” of chess players will be organised under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF) and Madhya Pradesh Chess Ad-hoc Committee.

    The tournament will be played from 25th December 2022 to 2nd January 2023 at the Indore Public School campus Indore. The prize pool of Rs. 5 lakh will be awarded to the participants. The first prize Rs.50,000/-, the second prize Rs.36,000/- and third prize Rs.30,000/- in each category will be given. This competition is awarded to Madhya Pradesh for the first time. Till date, entries of 195 participants in open category and 90 in the Girl’s category has been received from the players of 26 states and union territories of India. The top 2 players from Open and Girl’s categories will be selected to represent India in the World Under-10 Chess Championship to be played next year.

    IM Akshat Khamparia informed that for the first time, “Digital Board” will be used in this championship at Indore. Using the Digital Board, chess lovers can watch live games all over the world. The live telecast of this competition will be available on many online platforms. Apart from the top two players of each State / UT, the seeded players will also participate in the competition. All the rules of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) will be followed for the championship under Swiss system. 11 rounds will be played in this competition. The time control of 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move will be followed. Indore Public School (IPS), the organisers, will be providing free accommodation to all the selected and seeded players with their managers at their campus.     A dentist by profession and a philanthropist by passion, Dr. Kanika Dewan is the Director- Impact & Strategy at the SHIKHAR DHAWAN FOUNDATION.

    December 20: Dr. Dewan’s strides to change the youth’s outlook towards welfare have built a compassionate youth community. She has also received India’s A list award in social work, including other accolades. Her work has been recognised and published by various digital and print media over the span of her career as a youth welfare influencer. She was also nominated for FICCI for her projects with the Government of India. She was also a regular on-board health panellist for the ‘We the People’ talk show hosted by Barkha Dutt on NDTV.

    Kanika began by recounting her experience working in the social welfare field, explaining, “I’m basically a doctor by profession, and I qualified from Manipal University, which is Asia’s top five universities. And somewhere in the process of being and remaining a doctor, to giving back to society, we started this wonderful journey. To sum it up, basically an incredible journey of becoming a welfare rights activist and it’s not something that started because of a cause or reason. It just turned into a way of life. As I mentioned, that‘s not a task to do. It’s just something that I believe in. It’s the warmth and the passion that I have. And I think it’s very important for everybody to understand what it means and what it feels like to be able to give back to society.
