Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 3: In a grand celebration of strength, elegance, and purpose, Melissa Menezes emerged as the 1st Runner-Up in the Elite Category at the prestigious Mrs. India – Empress of The Nation 2025 (Season 6). Held on June 29, 2025, at the opulent HYATT Pune, the national finale brought together 53 inspiring women from across India in a dazzling display of grace and transformation.

Conceptualized and brought to life by visionary duo Karl & Anjana Mascarenhas, Founders DIVA Pageants (www.divapageants.com),  the event was a culmination of months of rigorous training, self-discovery, and empowerment. The evening sparkled with glamour and warmth, further elevated by the presence of celebrity guests Rohit Roy and Tanisha Mukherjee, who added star power and encouragement to the proceedings.

For Melissa Menezes, an Assistant Vice President at a leading international bank and a lifelong Pune resident, the crown signifies much more than a title—it is a deeply personal victory. “This pageant rekindled a childhood dream I had put to rest,” she shares. “Years ago, I believed my height would hold me back, and I quietly buried that aspiration. But life had other plans.”

A chance conversation at an ICE meet with co-founder Karl Mascarenhas rekindled that spark. “He saw potential in me at a time when I was at a low point in life. That moment of belief became my turning point.” Soon after, Melissa began her pageant journey under the nurturing guidance of Anjana Ma’am, whose mentorship she describes as transformational.

“The crown may rest on my head, but the real win has been the inner journey—rediscovering my confidence, purpose, and strength,” Melissa reflects. “Karl and Anjana have been phenomenal mentors, challenging me, guiding me, and reminding me that no dream is too distant if you’re willing to chase it.”

Melissa also credits her unwavering support system: “My husband Robinson and my son, Brandon are my rocks. My brother Dawson has always cheered me on, and my mother Gracie raised me with a ‘go get em’ attitude, the belief that no dream is too big – raising me as fearlessly as she did her son.”

And what hobbies doe she pursue? “No time for hobbies”, Melissa laughs. “I run a day care for fur babies – it’s my happy space outside of the boardroom and stage!”

Now wearing her crown with pride, Melissa is focused on giving back. “I want to inspire women everywhere to rise, rediscover their talents, and pursue their dreams – no matter their age. Because truly, age is just a number,” she smiles.

With poise, purpose, and an infectious spark, Melissa Menezes is not just a runner-up – she’s a rising force, and her journey is only just beginning.

  • MeshApp : Making Doctors’ Lives Easier with Easy Access, Smart Data, and Better Communication

MeshApp : Making Doctors’ Lives Easier with Easy Access, Smart Data, and Better Communication

New Delhi [India], July 3: The life of a modern doctor is a balancing act. Between managing patient care, keeping up with new medical developments, handling compliance, and coordinating with pharmaceutical representatives, a physician’s day is packed with both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. In such a demanding environment, every extra task, especially one that doesn’t directly enhance patient care, can feel burdensome. Recognising this, MeshApp has emerged as a game-changer in streamlining non-clinical workflows and restoring valuable time to healthcare professionals.

Created by a doctor who has firsthand experience of these daily challenges, MeshApp is built around one core philosophy: make doctors’ lives easier by giving them a digital ecosystem that works with them not against them.

A Seamless Experience Built for Doctors

Doctors often struggle with managing interactions with pharmaceutical field teams due to poor scheduling, irrelevant information, and unnecessary disruptions to their practice. MeshApp reimagines this relationship by offering a seamless, appointment-based system that connects doctors and pharma representatives digitally. No more unannounced visits or repeated calls, doctors can control their availability and decide whom to engage with on their own terms.

Moreover, the app’s intuitive interface ensures that even non-tech-savvy users can navigate the platform with ease. With just a few taps, doctors can access product updates, schedule meetings, and join discussions relevant to their speciality, all without interrupting patient care.

Curated, Actionable Data at Your Fingertips

In today’s fast-evolving medical landscape, staying informed is critical, but also time-consuming. MeshApp cuts through the noise by delivering only what matters. It provides doctors with tailored insights, evidence-backed pharmaceutical updates, and information curated specifically for their specialisation. This ensures that each interaction is not just relevant but adds clinical value.

Whether it’s the latest on a new drug launch, comparative efficacy data, or regulatory changes, doctors can access meaningful content that supports better decision-making and ultimately improves patient outcomes.

Real-Time Discussions and a Trusted Community

Perhaps one of the most revolutionary features of MeshApp is its ability to foster a professional community of doctors and pharma reps. Unlike conventional platforms that focus purely on product promotion, MeshApp encourages real-time, peer-to-peer engagement on everything from complex case discussions to new technologies and clinical best practices.

This creates a collaborative space where verified professionals can learn from one another, share their expertise, and discuss practical challenges faced in day-to-day practice. For doctors in semi-urban and rural regions, this can also help overcome isolation and stay connected with the broader medical ecosystem.

Peace of Mind with Medico-Legal Aid and Group Insurance

Doctors often face medico-legal risks that can have a lasting impact on their reputation and practice. MeshApp recognises this and offers immediate medico-legal support across India, giving practitioners peace of mind. With just a click, they can access help in times of need, something especially vital in today’s increasingly litigious environment.

Further, the platform offers discounted group insurance plans, tailored specifically for medical professionals. These cover a wide range of needs from professional indemnity to health and life insurance, ensuring comprehensive protection at affordable rates.

The Future is Digital and Doctor-Led - PNN

    New Income and Wellness Avenues

MeshApp isn’t just about saving time, it’s about adding value to a doctor’s life. The platform opens up additional earning opportunities, such as sponsored research discussions, digital health content creation, or participating in medical panels.

Moreover, exclusive health and wellness packages available through the app ensure that doctors, who often prioritise patient health over their own, receive the preventive care and health screenings they need.

    Automation That Frees Up Time

One of the most underappreciated burdens in medical practice is admin work. From accounting and documentation to appointment management, these tasks eat into time that could be better spent on patient care or self-learning.

MeshApp is actively working on launching a suite of automation tools that will allow doctors to digitise and streamline these workflows. By integrating features like expense tracking, automated reminders, and digital logbooks, the app promises to significantly cut down administrative overhead.

Designed by a Doctor, For Doctors

What sets MeshApp apart is the empathy built into its design. Unlike corporate tools developed with a top-down view, MeshApp was created by someone who has lived the challenges of being a medical practitioner. It understands the nuances, like how trust matters more than transactions, or how flexibility is more valuable than flashy features.

That’s why every element of the app—from its professional community to its automation features aims to support doctors not just professionally but also personally.

The Future is Digital and Doctor-Led

MeshApp represents a growing movement in healthcare where digital tools are designed to serve the caregiver, not just the patient. By combining communication, automation, education, and protection into a single, doctor-centric platform, it is helping transform how modern medical professionals manage their practice.

In a world where healthcare is becoming more complex, MeshApp simplifies what matters most. It allows doctors to reclaim their time, enhance their knowledge, and protect their practice, giving them the freedom to do what they do best: heal.

  • SDGs Through Arts India Edition Concludes with Bengaluru Showcase

SDGs Through Arts India Edition Concludes with Bengaluru Showcase

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 3: Over three transformative days, art and advocacy came together in the heart of Bengaluru for the first-ever SDGs Through Arts – India Edition. Hosted at the prestigious Conrad Bengaluru, the event marked the Indian debut of a global movement that uses creativity to spark awareness and dialogue around the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The final day culminated in a spectacular gala dinner and closed-door auction, attended by dignitaries, business leaders, and cultural patrons united in support of a shared cause — advancing sustainability and education through the universal language of art.

Bringing together 17 artists from across the globe, each representing one of the 17 SDGs, the event offered a rare opportunity for attendees to witness the creative process live. Over the course of the first two days, artists painted on-site, engaging with guests and inviting them into their world of interpretation, symbolism, and storytelling.

The finale evening was a grand celebration. Internationally acclaimed speed painter Vilas Nayak delivered a powerful live performance that drew standing ovations, while Sthuti Dsa, an 11th-grade student from Christ Academy, Bengaluru, captivated guests with a Bharatanatyam recital that blended traditional grace with youthful energy.

“Bringing the SDGs Through Arts movement to India has been a deeply meaningful journey. This event was about more than just showcasing talent — it was about creating a platform where art becomes a powerful voice for education, sustainability, and global dialogue. Seeing artists and guests from so many cultures engage with the SDGs in such a heartfelt way has reaffirmed my belief that creativity truly can inspire change.” said Humera Ali, India Ambassador and local host for the initiative. “To see Bengaluru come alive with voices and visions committed to sustainability and education has been a deeply moving experience. We are proud to have created a space where art and impact go hand in hand.”

Founded by Zaahirah Muthy, an award-winning artist and activist from Mauritius, SDGs Through Arts is a global initiative that has travelled across more than 15 countries, including Paris, Dubai, Seychelles, and Dhaka. India’s entry into this global circuit marks a powerful moment in the country’s cultural and social narrative — positioning it not just as a participant, but as a creative hub for global change.

Reflecting on the milestone, Zaahirah Muthy shared, “India’s first edition has exceeded every expectation. From the artists’ passion to the city’s response, it’s clear that this movement has found a powerful voice in Bengaluru. We are grateful for the warmth, the talent, and the unwavering support.”

In keeping with the spirit of SDG 4: Quality Education, proceeds from the evening’s art auction will be directed towards Ladies Circle India and Round Table India — two grassroots organisations working to improve learning infrastructure and educational access for children in under-resourced communities.

The India Edition also stood out for its focus on inclusivity, with a diverse roster of artists representing various mediums, geographies, and interpretations of the SDGs. From abstract landscapes to surrealist narratives, the works created were as varied as the goals themselves — yet bound by a shared vision for a better, more equitable world.

The event would not have been possible without the unwavering support of its sponsors. Raffles Park, Poshium Estates, Intellissence, The Cambridge International School, Conrad Bengaluru, The Candid Pictures, and Jaivik Farms all played a key role in supporting this landmark edition, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability, culture, and community transformation.

A notable highlight was the intimate and purposeful curation of the guest list for the gala dinner, which created a warm and collaborative space for conversations around art, philanthropy, and responsibility. Guests engaged directly with artists, gaining insight into the meaning behind each piece and the SDG it represented — transforming art from object to dialogue.

At the heart of this edition was Humera Ali Studios, the creative force behind the India launch. An internationally recognised arts initiative based in Bengaluru, the studio is led by Humera Ali, a passionate advocate for artistic expression as a tool for social change. Known for curating impactful visual narratives and cultural programming rooted in sustainability and storytelling, the studio continues to foster global collaborations that spotlight Indian artistry on the world map.

As the final brushstrokes dried and the lights dimmed on the India Edition, one message was clear: creativity is not just for gallery walls — it is a catalyst for dialogue, empathy, and action.

  • RDI Scheme: INR 1 Lakh Crore Push for India’s Brightest Minds

RDI Scheme: INR 1 Lakh Crore Push for India’s Brightest Minds

New Delhi [India], July 2: It’s rare for a single policy move to make you sit up and think, “This could actually change everything.” Yet the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet on July 1, 2025, does exactly that. With a massive one lakh crore rupee fund focused on private sector research, it signals a decisive shift in how India intends to power its future.

For decades, our brightest minds have either left for opportunities abroad or watched their ideas wither without funding. The RDI Scheme tackles that head-on by making sure no promising technology is left stranded for lack of resources. It gives the private sector a reason to dream big, not just in safe areas but in the kind of advanced manufacturing, defense tech, and green energy solutions that can define a nation’s destiny.

Here’s the exciting part. Unlike many past programs that spread funds thinly across early-stage concepts, this scheme is aimed squarely at projects on the cusp of becoming real. By focusing on high Technology Readiness Levels, it helps innovators make the leap from lab to market. This is where India has stumbled before, and where the RDI Scheme could finally break the cycle.

Why does it matter? Because India needs to build industries that don’t just follow trends but set them. We need our own companies designing cutting-edge defense systems. We need startups creating renewable energy breakthroughs that the world wants to license. The RDI Scheme could be the lever that lifts India into that league.

The governance plan feels reassuring too. Having the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, chaired by the Prime Minister, at the top ensures strategic alignment with national goals. The Department of Science and Technology steering implementation shows this isn’t a vanity project but a serious effort backed by experts. And an Empowered Group of Secretaries will keep a sharp eye on performance, giving this scheme a better chance of avoiding the fate of other well-intentioned but poorly executed programs.

If you look closer, you’ll see a clever strategy for building a deep-tech ecosystem. By including a Deep-Tech Fund of Funds, the RDI Scheme is making a statement that India wants to own its future in frontier technologies. This isn’t just about apps and e-commerce. It’s about semiconductors, advanced robotics, and green hydrogen: fields that can generate high-paying jobs and secure India’s technological sovereignty.

And let’s not overlook the timing. This scheme comes just months after a significant hike in the R&D budget for 2025-26, showing clear intent from the government to back its words with money. For too long, India’s ambitions were limited by cautious, incremental steps. Now, with this scale of investment, we’re finally talking about a big, bold leap.

RDI Scheme: India’s Big Bet on Research Could Rewrite Our Economic Story

Here’s what I believe: if implemented well, the RDI Scheme will do more than just produce a few patents or prototypes. It can fundamentally shift the mindset of India’s private sector. It can turn research from an expense into an opportunity. It can inspire thousands of young engineers and scientists to stay here, to build here, to believe that the next global tech breakthrough could have a “Made in India” tag.

That’s how you create an innovation culture. Not with slogans but with serious funding, strategic direction, and accountability. By removing the biggest barrier for private R&D, the sheer cost of long-term experimentation, the scheme gives Indian companies permission to think beyond immediate profits.

In a country where talk of “Viksit Bharat 2047” can sometimes feel abstract, the RDI Scheme offers something tangible. It says that by the 100th year of our independence, India will not just be a consumer of global technology but a creator of it. It says we will build our own solutions for our unique challenges, from defense to climate change, and then export those solutions to the world.

So yes, this scheme might just brighten India’s future. If it ignites private sector R&D the way it promises, it will light the path toward a self-reliant, technologically advanced India that no longer has to depend on anyone else’s ideas.

And that’s a future worth getting excited about.
