  • Cherish Everything: Life Is Not That Fragile – A Transformative Philosophy by Dr. ES Chakravarthy

New Delhi [India], March 6: Life consists of a lot of challenges, a lot of success, and a lot of growth opportunities. Dr. ES Chakravarthy’s philosophy, Cherish Everything: Life is not that fragile, is all about resilience, adaptability, and continuously moving with the times. Dr. ES Chakravarthy explained that life may offer challenges but allies, taking some calculated risks and investing in personal growth, may lead individuals to confidently and purposefully face the uncertainties of life.

Dr. ES Chakravarthy says, “I think the way to look at cancer and all health problems is from a perspective that is going to influence your life.” So, at any point, challenges are inevitable, but it is a matter of how we respond to that challenge that will determine our path. Dr. ES Chakravarthy, instead of scaring people with adversity, asks them to look at it as a means of growth. The idea that life is fragile is perhaps not so much as it seems to be – life is a dynamic experience that we, among other things, get to learn, evolve and become more resilient. Having a positive and proactive attitude helps us run through the obstacles of our life to make it meaningful and rewarding.

  • Good News! Water-Soluble Fertilizers To Become Affordable For Farmers, Now Made In India!

Good News! Water-Soluble Fertilizers To Become Affordable For Farmers, Now Made In India!

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], March 7: A Nagpur-based research and development company has developed indigenous technology for manufacturing Water-Soluble Fertilizers (WSFs), offering a major breakthrough in reducing India’s reliance on imports. In FY 2023-24, the country imported 3.5 lakh tonnes of WSFs worth ₹2,000 crore, with nearly 90% coming from abroad, primarily from China.

WSFs play a crucial role in high-value crops such as fruits and vegetables, improving nutrient efficiency and water conservation. Until now, India lacked domestic production of key WSFs like Calcium Nitrate, Mono Ammonium Phosphate (MAP), MKP, NPKs & 13-0-45, leaving farmers vulnerable to price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions. The new technology enables manufacturing using locally available minerals, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The project has received backing from the Department of Science & Technology and the Ministry of Mines under the ‘S&T-PRISM’ scheme, supporting its scalability and adoption.

The economic and agricultural impact of this development is expected to be significant. A steady local supply of WSFs will help stabilise costs, reduce the government’s fertilizer subsidy burden, and make farming more resilient. Empirical data already highlights the benefits of WSF adoption. In banana farming, WSF usage has reduced water consumption by 35% and increased profits by up to ₹98,000 per hectare. Tomato farmers have reported a 32% drop in water usage and profit gains of up to ₹77,000 per hectare. Reliable and cost-effective access to WSFs could further strengthen these gains, improving farm incomes and productivity.

Rajib Chakraborty, National President of the “Soluble Fertiliser Industry Association” (SFIA), described this as a significant step for Indian agriculture. “By reducing dependence on costly imports and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality fertilizers, we are creating a more sustainable farming ecosystem. Indigenous WSF production will strengthen agricultural resilience and improve long-term food security,” he said.

India produced 112.62 million metric tonnes of fruits and 204.96 million metric tonnes of vegetables in FY 2023-24. Farmers using WSFs have already reduced their reliance on subsidised urea and DAP by 30-90%, making agriculture more efficient, crops residue free and environmentally sustainable. However, limited availability has often forced them to revert to traditional fertilizers, leading to higher costs and inconsistent yields.

With commercial production of indigenous WSFs set to begin, India is moving towards a more self-sufficient and stable fertilizer ecosystem. This development not only strengthens the agricultural supply chain but also has the potential to save thousands of crores in foreign exchange while supporting sustainable farming practices.

  • HistoByte: India’s 1st Historical Fiction Contest for Teenage School Students Announced

HistoByte: India’s 1st Historical Fiction Contest for Teenage School Students Announced

New Delhi [India], March 7: Anecdote Publishing, a fast-growing publishing house dedicated to fostering a love for reading and writing, announced that it was launching HistoByte, India’s first historical fiction writing contest for teenage school students. The contest is the brainchild of sixteen-year-old Aaditya Sengupta Dhar, a bestselling teen author, who is curating this contest in collaboration with Anecdote Publishing. This innovative contest invites students from any school in India who are between the ages of 13-18 to submit ‘byte-sized’ fiction (of less than 500 words), written in the first person to give voice to any character from Indian history.

Mr. Sagar Azad, CEO of Anecdote Publishing, commenting on this announcement, said, “At Anecdote, we want to not just publish books but encourage the younger generation to develop a love for writing. This contest is a fantastic and innovative way of doing that. When Aaditya shared this idea with us, we were very excited to be part of it and to build it together with him.”

Aaditya Sengupta Dhar, who studies in Class XI at Mumbai’s Ecole Mondiale World School, has long had a passion for storytelling and using his writing to make a difference and is the published author of six books. His fantasy novel, Kaalchakra, was an Amazon bestseller and aimed to bring Indian teens closer to their cultural roots and heritage while his non-fiction book, The Teens Guide to Saving the World, inspired teenagers to make a positive difference, winning accolades at three international awards, including The Teen Reader’s Choice Awards in the US, the only national literary award in the US decided through voting by teens. For his role in creating a positive impact through his writing, Aaditya won the Young Achievers Award in 2024, a national recognition for young changemakers.

Aaditya says that the idea for such a contest came to him when he was helping fellow students prepare for essay and writing competitions as part of his school’s Literary Club, which he founded. “It struck me that there aren’t too many writing contests for teens in India. I thought of combining my passion for history and writing to create this as a way to encourage teens from schools across India to explore creative writing while learning more about our nation’s history.”

Aaditya hopes that this contest serves a larger purpose than just inspiring creativity. “I am a passionate student of history, and I know many school students feel history is just memorising facts and dates. I hope HistoByte helps more of them understand and be inspired by our rich history through the realisation that history is, at its core, the story of people’s lives.”

The interesting combination of history and literature in a contest aimed at teens makes Histobyte an exciting prospect for budding writers and history buffs alike. HistoByte is open to entries till April 1, with contestants competing in two categories, Junior (ages 13-15) and Senior (ages 16-18), with final results on April 14.
