Inspiring Curiosity and Exploration Among Young Minds

Pune (Maharashtra) [India] March 29: 1XL recently held a fun `Magical Science” workshop on January 28 at Bhatkya Vimukt Jati Shikshan Sanstha, Wagholi (BVJSS). The workshop was led by Jainam and Jivika Jain, who are the founders of the hit Youtube channel, JJFuntime and are co-founders of 1XL LLC FZ. The goal of the workshop was to make science enjoyable and interesting for the students. This shows the commitment of 1XL to making science easy to understand and fun for young learners.

The “Magical Science” workshop, a joint effort by 1XL and BVJSS, was a big success. Two hundred students enthusiastically participated. Jainam and Jivika Jain’s lively presentation style and interesting experiments made difficult scientific ideas easy to understand and enjoyable to perform.

Jainam said, “We are very happy to have worked with BVJSS to organise this great workshop. We wanted to show students that science can be educational, interesting and magical. Seeing the students so keen to learn was inspiring.”

The “Magical Science” workshop featured various exciting experiments that made learning science fun and engaging for students. They learned about air pressure by observing the level and flow of water from a bottle saw the properties of a non-Newtonian fluid with cornstarch and learned the concept of polymers by puncturing a plastic bag filled with water. 

Other experiments included demonstrating pressure and depth using straws in bottles, showing the impact of water flow rate on force and creating a volcano with baking soda and vinegar. These hands-on activities taught scientific principles, created curiosity and encouraged students to learn about the world around them from a new point of view.

Haryana (India), March 21: SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, known for its contribution to science and technology, organized the Third International Conference on ‘Antimicrobial Resistance, Novel Drug Discovery, and Vaccine Development: Challenges and Opportunities,’ at the Habitat Centre, Delhi, from 18 to 20 March 2024. Participating in the conference were approximately four hundred delegates from India and abroad. Distinguished international scientists in the field were plenary speakers across the three-day event.

The Conference was inaugurated by His Excellency, the Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya who expressed his appreciation for the organizers and complimented them on taking up an issue of global importance. In particular, he lauded the fact that eight countries were represented at the conference (UK, USA, Israel, S. Africa, Canada, Singapore, France, etc) and that the Guest of honour was the 2009 Nobel Laureate, Ada Yonath from Israel.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when microorganisms evolve to become resistant to the medications used to treat infections they cause, rendering these drugs less effective or ineffective. AMR arises from genetic mutations and misuse of antimicrobial medications. It poses a significant global health threat, leading to diseases that are difficult to treat, to increased mortality rates, and higher healthcare costs. Addressing AMR requires a comprehensive approach, including prudent antimicrobial use, surveillance, research into new treatments, and collaboration across healthcare sectors and stakeholders. In the face of mounting challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance, the urgency to discover novel drugs and develop effective vaccines has never been greater.

Senior Scientists like Prof Ada Yonath, GP Talwar, Greg Basarab, Tom Blunden, Catrin Moore, and others delivered plenary lectures to an enthralled audience. Younger scholars presented their papers and posters in separate sessions. Senior officials and Vice-Chancellors of leading universities in India (like BHU) also delivered plenary lectures.

NGOs including Toxics Link working for AMR participated in the conference. Believing in academic-industry interface, the organizers had also invited stalwarts like Dr Ashok Rattan, Raj Kumar Halder, Ruhvenile, and others who made presentations of the work done in the field.

Delegates were welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of SRM University, Prof Paramjeet S Jaswal, who also addressed the gathering at the valedictory. The organizing Secretary of the Conference, Prof Samuel V Raj, who is also the Dean of SRMUH and a pioneer in the field of AMR, spear-headed the entire venture, and mingled with the delegates along with his team, overseeing all the arrangements which proceeded seamlessly.

Participants, young and old, were happy with the arrangements and also the rich intellectual fare provided through the deliberations and the networking.

The first scholarship is the Instant Admission Cum Scholarship Test (iACST), offering up to 90% scholarship for admission into Medical, Engineering, and Foundation courses. The Instant Admission Cum Scholarship Test (iACST) offers students immediate scholarship awards and opportunities for instant admission. Students can take the exam online and receive details of their earned scholarships instantly, enabling them to secure instant admission under the expert guidance of Aakash faculty. The online iACST, lasting 60 minutes, can be taken between 10 AM and 8 PM on designated exam days.

Catering to students in Class VIII to XII, iACST serves as a platform for them to showcase their potential for careers in Medicine or Engineering. Scholarships awarded through iACST are applicable for admission into Medical, Engineering, and Foundation classroom courses. iACST is conducted via the Aakash Computer-Based Test (CBT) platform, as well as through the Aakash website and dedicated mobile applications for both Android and Apple platforms.

In addition to its scholarship initiatives, AESL is committed to social responsibility by supporting the education of wards of Defence Personnel. Aakash will provide tuition fee waivers of up to 100% to the children of martyrs. Similarly, an additional discount of 10% will be given to the children of defense personnel and terrorism-affected individuals over and above their iACST scores.

Aakash also celebrates its success in the recent JEE Mains 2024, where 41,263 students qualified the examination. Noteworthy achievements include 4,198 students attaining a percentile score of 95 and above, while 939 students secured a percentile score of 99 and above. Rishi Shekhar Shukla from Hyderabad achieved a perfect 100 percentile, with Abhiraj Singh from Karnal, Sri Ram A from Trinulveli, and Viswanath K S from Hyderabad securing an exceptional percentile of 99.99, among others.

Apart from the classroom students, students from Aakash’s digital program scored tremendously in JEE Mains 2024 (Session-01), with toppers including Ritam Banerjee attaining a percentile score of 99.96 with a 100 in Mathematics; Arha Sahoo scoring 99.91 with 100 in Chemistry; Dhritishman Dutta at 99.87; Harish Kumar at 99.86; Eshwaranth at 99.86 percentile with a 100 percentile in Chemistry; Ishant Patel at 99.85 percentile; Sayan Mandal at 99.82; Jane Jones at 99.78; Srajan Gupta 99.74; Dilipkumar A 99.70, Rakshit Modi 99.67 among others. An impressive 26 students scored 99+ percentile NTA score. Also, In JEE (Adv) 2023, Aakash Digital Program student Maynak Soni has secured AIR-26 (OBC category Rank 2) proving that the digital mode of learning is indeed a great solution for cracking the India’s toughest exams with top ranks.

In the NEET UG Examination 2023, an impressive 1,06,870 students from Aakash qualified, with 17 emerging as State/UT Toppers.
