    Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 11: Karan Johar’s 50th birthday was all over the internet and is still making news. We have all seen those viral videos of superstars jamming and grooving to the thundering music of the DJ. Speaking of which, did you know that DJ Ganesh was the man behind the high-spirited and fantastic music that set the vibe of Kjo’s birthday party?

    Not only did DJ Ganesh put his best foot forward, but he also got recognised for his efforts by Karan Johar. “The movie star comes on the dance floor, and they play that song. So Ranveer Singh and DJ Ganesh were like… at it. They did a tech check,” said Karan Johar in an interview while talking about the DJ element of his party.

    Ganesh felt overwhelmed after being a crucial part of this big celebration. The artist will always remember his experience of performing in front of the biggest Bollywood stars. At the party, there came a moment when only superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif, etc. were on stage. And Ganesh had to play the music that swayed everyone’s mood.

    “I was so enthused at this time of the party that I was concentrating on the music. How should I make everyone dance like there is no tomorrow,” said DJ Ganesh. He said, “So, Ranveer Singh, who was with me on the console, we were both playing back-to-back big Bollywood songs that made every superstar burn their feet on the dance floor.”

    DJing for Karan Johar’s birthday party was the biggest opportunity that Ganesh had come across. And the way we, too, shook our bodies after seeing the videos of KJ’s party, we all know that Ganesh did a commendable job. The artist also made an exclusive remix of Dafli Wale (Karan’s favourite) on which Neetu Singh, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, and Karan Johar performed. Ganesh said, “It was a task to make a remix of this old classic, but everyone on the dance floor purely enjoyed it.”

    Ganesh also said that the stardom of SRK is something else. He felt that whenever he played for SRK, the whole vibe was different. DJ Ganesh added, “I feel privileged and lucky that I have performed in front of the whole Bollywood industry.” We hope he keeps finding more such opportunities in the future.

    Besides Karan Johar, he Has played at the Biggest Celebration of Country Be it For Isha Ambani’s engagement, Gauri and Shahrukh Khan’s bash, Kajal Agarwal and Gautam Kitchlu’s wedding or Poorna Patel and Namit Soni’s wedding, all have been stamped under DJ Ganesh’s name.

    July 8: Global Brahman Council, Hong Kong, is celebrating a unique “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” festival with the theme Vedic Cultural Heritage from 1st July to 15th August 2022. The festival started with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam day on 1st July, at India Club, Hong Kong to mark its 1st anniversary. The Vedic program began with rituals by priests Hitesh Maharaj, Vinod Maharaj, Ishwar Maharaj, and Jai Maharaj.

    The event was a great opportunity for the community to come together, meet and greet, and support each other in our common goal of celebrating and highlighting Vedic culture and Sanatan Dharm. It was even more auspicious to be able to gather on the day when the world-famous rath yatra takes place in Jagannath Puri and to offer Abhishek to their lordships Sri Sri Jagannath, Baldeva, and Subhadra Maharani along with engaging everyone in the chanting of powerful and uplifting Vedic mantras.

    Dr. Sanjay Nagarkar and Prof. Rita Vyas Nagarkar, the founders of Global Brahman Council welcomed the guests and said, “Today is a very special event being celebrated alongside the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the celebration of India’s 75th anniversary. We are proud to be celebrating the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam festival to invoke the spirit of global citizenship, and to teach the young children our rich cultural values by passing the Vedic cultural heritage torch to the next generation.” During the festival, several events will take place, i.e., plantation, Sanjeevani haven at Kowloon Hindu temple, Vedic cultural heritage forum discussion among international participants, lectures series, Vedic music, and Sanskrit classes. The festival will close by showcasing a Vedic cultural heritage poster exhibition on 15th August 2022.

    To inspire the younger generation Nikhil Nagarkar gave a meaningful speech that related to many youths and their parents. Nikhil Nagarkar said, “We were born abroad so we only understand what we see. For us to be inspired by our own culture, it needs to be communicated to us in a way that we can relate to.” The second part of the program was bhajans and lectures. Mrs. Shobhana Rajesh Iyer and Anirudh Trivedi sang soulful bhajans. Shri Radhika Sharma spoke about Vedic culture and value systems. The key highlight was the attendance of younger children under 15 years of age who participated very enthusiastically in the rituals, mantra chanting, and bhajan singing.

    To demonstrate the diversity of our Vedic culture and heritage, an educational poster exhibition was showcased which allowed children to learn about India a lot. The event was followed by pure satvik food. The program was attended by Brahman families and community leaders.

    Mr. Shoan Goenka, President of Overseas Friends of BJP, Mrs. Vaneeta Sharma, Head of the Kowloon Hindu temple, Mr. Bhagwan, Mr. Ajit, Mr. Lal Daryanani, and other dignitaries attended the event. Mr. Nanu Laxman, President of India Club, Mr. Nothan Tolan, President of Kowloon Hindu Temple, and Mr. Rakesh Sharma supported the program.

    Mr. Hari Mishra, Shashikant Panday, Sarvesh Mishra, Ashu Bhargav, Rajesh Iyer, Vinay Sharma, and other community members made this unique event possible. Veena Daninghani was the MC and conducted the program smoothly.

    July 8: Manav Vigg has outdone himself with his latest book – Sherlock and Devdas: Sherlock homes India. Devdas gets Sherlocked. This book has a unique voice that fleshes out both characters for what we love them – suspense and melancholy, respectively.

    Characters – The masters who drove the book forward

    Sherlock Holmes and Devdas are renowned characters that we know and love. Each one of them has a distinct voice in this novel, and a lot of references for their original stories are thrown around. For example, Sherlock often says ‘Elementary, Devdas, Elementary’ – creating an essence of reminiscence for readers.

    The introduction of Dr Watson for a brief chapter was interesting to see as yet another beloved character made an appearance and engaged in quirky dialogue. It was refreshing to see the two worlds colliding and the outcome being something totally unexpected!

    The same goes for Devdas, who is depressed after the love of his life, Paro leaves him for someone else. The lovers are separated despite their bond still being intact. It is beautiful how the beauty of their bond is depicted from their early days of childhood. The internal conflicts of both Paro and Devdas are depicted beautifully on several occasions, which adds life to the story. Furthermore, there are some scenes with Chandni, who is a close friend of Devdas – that is, if we use the word ‘friend’ very loosely!

    Rewriting the stars – so to speak.

    One notable aspect was how at times, the book deviated from the characters’ original personalities. Sherlock Holmes has always been admired as being someone who never turns to anyone for help and solves mysteries by visiting his ‘mind palace’. But in this book, he is given a very human form and is seen to be vulnerable on many occasions.

    He is trying to crack his first big case and is even depicted as having financial issues at times! While this retelling might be off-putting for some readers, it is a refreshing take even for die-hard Sherlock Holmes fans! It was a fresh perspective and had a lot of scope in future sequels.

    An intriguing aspect is how the duo came together during various parts of the novel and used their intellects to find solutions. Be it the hunt for the Sherpa, the quest to defeat Devdas’s addiction to alcohol, or solving the mystery at large – it was interesting to see the contrasting characters set aside their differences and join hands.

    The language

    Manav Vigg has indicated his witty nature with the writing in this novel. It is elegant and poetic at times while turning sarcastic and humorous at other times. It is fun to see the characters communicating with each other and solving the mystery in their own ways. Add in Meenal, C.L., Mrs Hudson, and Bhatia to the mix, and you get the most eccentric cast in a novel! Even the antagonists were fleshed out, and readers keep guessing till the very end who the perpetrator could be.

    Devdas has a profound interest and love for antiques and artifacts. This helps him support Sherlock during tricky situations. Similarly, Sherlock has contacts in the police department and has access to scientific equipment to conduct tests and prove the evidence gathered.

    The pacing and twists

    The book is paced quite well, and the chapters are very short. This was a bonus, as readers always feel that they are getting through the book faster if the chapters are short. Not to mention the plethora of edge-of-your-seat moments in the book wherein the author revealed various plot twists and action sequences.

    The twists and turns were placed well throughout the book, and the author takes the readers on a comprehensive journey to solve the case. It almost feels like readers are putting the pieces together along with Sherlock and Devdas. This writing style and pacing really stood out while flipping through the pages quickly to find out if the assumptions were true.

    The final verdict

    Sherlock and Devdas is a refreshing new read from a brand-new perspective we have never seen before. Apart from having scenes depicting love, sorrow, loss, comedy, and depression, the story has a spell-binding mystery at its core. The mystery at the heart of the story is what ties the whole package together!

    The book is highly recommended to anyone who loves Sherlock Holmes and detective stories. Readers will love seeing their favourite character in this new avatar! Fans of Devdas and Paro should also check out this novel, as their love and banter are beautifully described!

    The twist is intriguing and leaves scope for a second novel in the series – the cliffhanger was unexpected! Mind you. There are some romantic scenes in the novel and very mild use of swear words. If this turns readers off to let young readers check out the book, then to each one their own! On the whole, the book is highly recommended.

    New Delhi, July 8: The Fashion Design Council (FDCI) is back with the 15th Edition of the India Couture Week 2022, in association with Lotus Make-up. The physical event taking place after two years will be held from July 22-31 at the Taj Palace and will include offsite shows. Once again, Archana Aggarwal Timeless Jewellery is the jewellery partner for the 10-day showcasing.

    The FDCI has been consistently working on getting the most coveted names in the country to showcase at this ultra-luxe event.
