75% Indian population never goes for diagnostic tests due to a lack of diagnostic testing culture, leading to the rising incidence of CVDs in youth

48% of people are either hypertensive or at risk of becoming hypertensive, and 30% of people have a high Waist Hip Ratio (WHR) – an early indication of the onset of CVDs: Study

New Delhi [India], June 23: Neglecting preventive care leads to high cases of preventable diseases. And this applies to cardiovascular diseases as well. Currently, in India, there is a lack of preventive care ecosystem, which is the reason why the majority of the people don’t go for preventive screening leading to a host of diseases. When they go for tests, it’s too late. Lately, the incidence of heart attacks amongst Indian youth has increased significantly.

While speaking during a press conference on a study — Preventing Heart Diseases in Youth: Growing evidence of a link between Waist Hip Ratio (WHR), BP & BMI, and CVDs conducted by India Health Link (IHL), Healthcare communication expert and Co-Founder & President, India Health Link (IHL), Dr. Swadeep Srivastava, said, “Owing to the lack of diagnostic testing culture in India, 75% of the population never goes for diagnostic tests that is the reason why they miss the early signs that cause cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) Lack of early screening is one of the major causes of the increasing number of CVDs cases amongst Indians, which has increased significantly as the younger Indians have a 10 times higher rate of a heart attack.”

While presenting the study revelation on the growing evidence of a link between Waist Hip Ratio (WHR), BP & BMI, and CVDs, Dr. Satyender Goel, Founder & CEO, India Health Link (IHL), said, “Considering the essence of screening to prevent the onset of diseases, and to fill the existing gaps in primary healthcare we have introduced a first-of-its-kind connected ‘human-centric’ Phygital (physical+digital) screening ecosystem, which includes the award-winning ATM size ‘made in India’ Health Pod (‘hPod‘) for zero assistance automated vitals screening. And the Health Pod also complements National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) as it creates personalized Health accounts and IDs in line with the ABHA account.”

Dr. Goel further added, “Through this user-friendly ecosystem, anyone can get their screening done for over 20 metabolic vitals including BMI, SpO2, BP, ECG, MBC, Body & Visceral Fat, etc., within 5 minutes followed by an instant report, and become a part of National Digital Health Mission. Out of over 140 crore population in India, only 21.9 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs have been created as of now.”

The study has revealed a strong correlation between the increasing Waist Hip Ratio, BMI, BP, and the rising incidence of CVDs in the younger population. But in the study, one striking finding revealed that 80% of hypertensive women are obese, and 67% of them have a high Waist Hip Ratio. And overall, women were found to be more at risk of undiagnosed cardiovascular problems than men. Further, 48% of people were found to be either hypertensive or at risk of becoming hypertensive 30% of people have a high Waist Hip Ratio (WHR) – an early indication of the onset of CVDs.

Emphasizing the need for focussing on preventive cardiology to move toward heart wellness, while speaking during a press conference on a study conducted by India Health Link (IHL), Dr. H K Chopra, Sr. Consultant Cardiologist, Medanta Moolchand Heart Institute, New Delhi Chairman, CME, Moolchand Medicity, New Delhi, President, World Heart Academy, Former National President, CSI, IAE said, “Recent data published by WHO, ICMR, and the Union Ministry of Health reveals that 10-15% of people in India are getting heart attacks below the age of 40 years. Persons having high visceral fat are more prone to heart attack and other CVDs. Hypertension is a silent killer, and I call it a Tsunami as 90% of the people have uncontrolled hypertension, wherein 42% of people don’t know that they have hypertension. And this is happening because 65% of people have metabolic syndrome in India. So, the bigger question is how to curb such syndrome leading to heart illness; the single answer is preventive cardiology. And for preventive cardiology, we should have a screening machine to check whether our metabolism is working properly or not. To fill the gap in preventive cardiology, quick service digital health kiosks like IHL’s hPod demonstrate to be a panacea in filling the primary and preventive care gap in India, creating digital health records for the population in the informal sector. The award-winning IHL’s Health Pod (‘hPod’) is a unique self-service ATM size machine to test 20+ metabolic vitals, including BMI, SpO2, BP, ECG, MBC, Body & Visceral Fat, etc., within 5 minutes with the instant report without any paramedic assistance.”

    Startling Statistics on CVDs

    • 50% of CVD-related deaths occur in people less than 50 years of age
    • Younger Indians have a 10 times higher rate of heart attack
    • 10-15% of people are getting heart attacks below the age of 40 years
    • 42% of people don’t know that they have hypertension
    • 65% of people have metabolic syndrome in India70% of Indians will fall victim to an early heart attack by 2030
    • 36,000 heart attack occurs in Delhi every year

From A Humble Background To A Respected Politician, The Journey of NCP Leader Baburao Chandere Is Inspiring – Primex News Network

June 20: A good politician is a blessing to society and the NCP leader from Pune, Baburao Chandere is sure one of those. The intention of doing good for the community and experience of doing that are the most important traits of a  good politician and Chandere boasts of both.

Baburao Chandere comes from a humble background and no one in his family had any experience in politics. But since Baburao always loved to help the needy, his every step brought him closer to politics.

Baburao Chandere, a native of Sus, 2.5 km from Pune has a family of five brothers. The father supported the family by selling ice cubes at various places. Taking care of the poor in such a situation, Baburao developed an interest in social work. He completed his education up to the 10th standard and then did ITI. He used to work on his own brick kiln and in the fields as his house was in poor condition. Not just that, but he also worked as a gardener.

It was only after marriage in 1986 that he joined politics with his father-in-law Marutrao Dhankude. As his father-in-law was close to Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Chandraji Pawar and a senior NCP leader, Baburao started understanding politics. While working, Chandere came in contact with the present Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

It was in 2014 when Ajit Pawar took note of the consistency of growth and the different way of working and gave him candidature in the Kothrud constituency. At that time they had to accept defeat but in 2017, he contested the elections again and was elected for the third time in the corporation.

Baburao Chandere made his mark in politics and maintained the role of 20% politics and 80% socialization. From 2007 to 2017, he carried out development works worth Rs. 700 to 800 crore in Baner-Balewadi constituency under Pune Municipal Corporation. Realizing that we owe something to the society when he was a member of Chandere Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee in 1999, he hired 13 to 14 youths and since he got the post of corporator, he hired 15 youths permanently in the corporation. So far, 55 youths have been given government jobs in various fields.

Baburao Chandere has also been treating thousands of families every year at festivals like Diwali and Makar Sankranti. Since 2006, every Diwali, a program is organized to distribute equipments to the poor. In 2006, 2000 families were being assisted and in 2021, the total reached 12000. That’s not it as under his leadership, Doctors have been honoured on Doctor’s Day, lawyers on Advocate’s Day, Teachers on Teacher’s Day and even students who have passed 10th and 12th standards have been honoured.

Being a Kabbadi lover, he has contributed immensely to the sport as well. He founded the Satej Kabaddi team. Currently, in Pune, Baburao Chandere Social Foundation and Baner Sangh play Kabaddi. So far 9 players are playing in the national team. In addition, 7 players are playing in throw kabaddi.

On the occasion of Ajit Pawar’s birthday, the Kabaddi competition is organized on July 12 every year. For this, he has taken the benefit of Ajit Pawar’s guidance from time to time. At the same time, his family has been a constant support.

Gurwant Singh Ladhi’s Journey; Being A Jiu-Jitsu World Champion To Promoting The Sport In India – Primex News Network

June 13: India has a great tradition for sports and keeping aside Cricket, our athletes have been making a mark in various other sports as well. Some of these sports were little known or popular before our athletes raised the tricolor high at global platforms. Neeraj Chopra is now a household name and, after bagging a Gold at Tokyo Olympics, has motivated the new generation to take up Javelin throw as a sport.

Meet Gurwant Singh Ladhi. He has been earning laurels for our country in a combat sport called Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) has gained massive popularity globally and incorporates elements of wrestling, grappling, and ground fighting.

Gurwant, an American citizen of Indian origin, takes pride in representing India at world championships and winning medals for his motherland. He was born and brought up in Batala, Punjab, before migrating to the States. From basking in the glow of his medals at world Jiu-Jitsu championships to training every day, Gurwant is one of the few Indians representing the nation at international Jiu-Jitsu championships.

In 2019, he bagged 3 gold medals at SJJIF (Sport Jiu Jitsu International Federation) World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and became the world champion. In 2021, he bagged 7 medals across various divisions at the IBJJF championships. Both IBJJF and SJJIF are considered to be the mecca of competitive Jiu-Jitsu across the Globe, and Gurwant is one of the few Indians, vigorously participating and winning medals in the internationally acclaimed events.

With decades of practice and experience in diverse martial arts and combat sports, the gold medallist found his calling in Jiu-Jitsu. Since then, he has been zealously participating in a wide range of state-level, national-level, and international-level competitions and bagging medals in various divisions. However, the journey hasn’t been an easy one. Back in 2017, while he was on a trip to India and was training people for free, a few trolls targeted him and called him a fake master. Unscrupulous allegations were levelled against him. This incident etched on his heart yet motivated him to work harder. He proved everyone wrong by winning medals at world-class championships and becoming the world champion which only a few Indians have achieved, if not none.

“My biggest key to success in Jiu-Jitsu is consistent practice and enthusiasm. I want to inspire the world to take up Jiu-Jitsu. Soon, I am planning to open a professional gym for those who want to be the next rising Jiu-Jitsu global champions,” shares Gurwant, who presently holds a purple belt with two stripes. Currently, he trains under Professor Felipe Pena (BJJ Black Belt).

Gurwant doesn’t miss an opportunity to visit India. During his visits, he conducts free training camps and hosts various Tournaments. His BJJ tournaments are acclaimed to be the best India has ever witnessed. The next one is in November 2022.

Gurwant Singh Ladhi believes age is just a number. He will be touching 50 years of age this month yet believes in hustling each day on the mats. He hits the gym first thing in the morning before heading to work. He is married and has 3 kids, 2 daughters and 1 son. His wife and family are his biggest support and pillar of strength in his martial arts journey.

He is a god-fearing soul who is always eager to help the poor. As a socially responsible martial artist and a human being, he helps many families and old age homes in Punjab in whatever means he can.

Our country needs more champions like Gurwant Singh Ladhi, who, despite being in the US, are so close to his Indian roots and takes pride in winning laurels for India.
