PVL 2025 Season 4 (Match 31): Kolkata Thunderbolts celebrate Diwali with 3–1 win over Hyderabad Black Hawks

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 23: Kolkata Thunderbolts returned to winning ways on the auspicious night of Diwali, defeating the hosts Hyderabad Black Hawks 15–9, 15–13, 9–15, 15–13 in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Monday. Pankaj Sharma was named the Player of the Match. With this win, the Thunderbolts climbed to sixth position in the table with nine points. Team Director Sumedh Patodia expressed his delight with the team’s performance, praising Head Coach Naser Shahnazi and the players for “working in overdrive mode.”

The Hawks started aggressively, with setter Preet Karan distributing his passes smartly between Sahil Kumar and Yudi Yamamoto to test Kolkata’s defence. Pankaj Sharma stood tall, combining well with Muhammad Iqbal to block Hyderabad’s attacks effectively.

The Thunderbolts looked like a well-oiled unit in defence, not allowing the Hawks much room to penetrate. Yudi’s spike went wide, costing Hyderabad a super point, and Kolkata took the early lead.

Jithin orchestrated Kolkata’s tactics with precision, allowing Ashwal Rai and Matin Takavar to execute powerful attacking plays. Iqbal’s dominant presence in the middle provided defensive stability as Kolkata tightened their grip on the match.

Hyderabad made tactical adjustments, bringing in John Joseph, Guru Prashanth, and Paulo Lamounier. Paulo’s crucial block on Pankaj ignited the home crowd as momentum shifted briefly. Niyas Abdul Salam rediscovered his rhythm, while John’s sharp block on Rahul secured a vital super point, helping the Hawks clinch the third set and reopen the contest.

In the fourth set, Lamounier set the pace for Hyderabad’s attacks, but Pankaj and Ashwal responded with powerful cross-court strikes to relieve the pressure. Kolkata regained control after winning a key super point. Rahul’s thunderous spike earned another crucial point, and when Shikar missed his shot from the middle, the Thunderbolts sealed a sensational 3–1 victory.

CA Pawan Kumar Patodia, Chairman & Principal Owner of the Thunderbolts, said, “The boys have given me the best Diwali gift I could imagine, keeping us alive as strong contenders in the league for the playoffs!”

At the post-match presentation, captain Ashwal Rai shared a heartfelt message with the fans: “Diwali is a happy occasion, and we wish to send our best wishes to all of you in the stadium and those watching at home — Happy Diwali!”

The Thunderbolts will next face the Delhi Toofans in their final league-stage encounter on October 22, 2025, a decisive match that will determine their fate in the race for the Semifinals.

PVL 2025 Season 4 (Match 30): Kochi Blue Spikers win Kerala derby, pick 3–1 win over Calicut Heroes

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 23: Kochi Blue Spikers picked up a motivating 15–13, 9–15, 15–8, 15–13 win over Calicut Heroes in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday. Mouhsin Pa was named the Player of the Match.

Kochi started strong, with blocker Jasjodh Singh earning the opening point. A super serve from Erin Varghese helped Kochi take an early lead, despite constant pressure from Calicut’s Ashok Bishnoi.

Shameem halted Kochi’s attacks as Calicut captain and setter Mohan Ukkrapandian kept the game in the middle zone. Despite Calicut’s fightback, Hemanth’s super spike helped Kochi claim the first set.

With Shameem and Santhosh’s smart play, Calicut started their counterattack. Setter Moushin ensured Kochi had plenty of options in their attacks to keep up the pressure. But Bishnoi covered a lot of court for the Heroes, helping them open a door for a comeback.

Kochi brought back blocker Amrinderpal Singh on court to halt Calicut’s attacks. But Bishnoi managed to find a gap, earning his side a super point, and Calicut levelled the game.

Jasjodh’s clever play and Erin’s consistent attacks kept up the pressure on Calicut. Calicut libero Mukesh impressed with his defensive skills, but Amal managed to aim his shots well, and Kochi took the lead once again.

Abdul Raheem led the fightback for Calicut as the Heroes worked hard to push the game to a fifth set. But Amal and Erin won two consecutive super points for Kochi to cut the deficit in the fourth set. Hemanth’s all-around play put pressure back on Calicut, and the Spikers picked up an inspiring win.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 23: The Goa Guardians scripted a stunning comeback to edge past the Delhi Toofans 14–16, 11–15, 15–11, 16–13, 15–11 in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday. After the thrilling win, Owner  Raju Chekuri said, “Goa Guardians is a great, resilient team. After going down two sets, winning three sets continuously shows their team’s bonding and strength.”

The opening set turned out to be a thriller, with both sides exchanging points relentlessly. Jesus Chourio and Muhammed Jasim struck early for the Toofans, while Dushyant Singh’s super serve briefly put the Guardians in front. Jeffrey Menzel tried to close the set for Goa, but the Toofans’ power pair of Anu James and Chourio stepped up when it mattered most to take the first set 16–14.

The Toofans carried their momentum into the second set, with Carlos Berrios dominating from the outside. Despite Menzel’s sharp net play keeping the Guardians competitive, setter Saqlain Tariq’s precise assists to Chourio and Berrios guided the Toofans to a confident 15–11 win, putting them two sets ahead.

Goa roared back in the third, fuelled by Nathaniel’s attacking intent and Chirag Yadav’s service pressure. Prince marshalled the defence with a superb block as the Guardians finally rediscovered their rhythm to pull one back 15–11.

The fourth set saw Chourio and Berrios threaten to seal the match early for the Toofans, but Menzel’s blistering spikes and Prince’s control at the net sparked a brilliant fightback. Prince capped the effort with a thunderous super serve, clinching the set 16–13 to push the match into a decider.

In the tense fifth set, both teams traded points in quick succession before Goa’s Aravindan executed a clever setter dump, while Prince continued his dominance at the net. Anu James battled hard for the Toofans, but Chirag Yadav’s emphatic super point spike sealed a memorable 3–2 victory for the Guardians.

Participants can expect a warm, non-judgmental environment, where the focus is not just on problem-solving, but on genuine human connection.

  • Eternity as an icon: Arzan Khambatta collaborates with Agami Realty to create a masterpiece capturing the timelessness of Agami Eternity

Eternity as an icon: Arzan Khambatta collaborates with Agami Realty to create a masterpiece capturing the timelessness of Agami Eternity

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 18: In a landmark synergy that brings together two formidable names in the design and development spaces, renowned sculptor Arzan Khambatta has unveiled his latest masterpiece for Agami Realty’s boutique development in Bandra East. Titled Lady Eternity, the creation adorns the premises of Agami Realty’s residential tower titled Eternity, located in Kalanagar, Bandra East. It is a breathtaking 15-foot-tall monument, composed of glistening metal and energised crystals, that captures the very essence of the project. In that, it stands at the intersection of art, architecture and community-focused design, bringing to life vital elements that are embedded into the project’s DNA.

Agami Eternity stands tall on a land parcel that once housed Samaj Seva Co-operative Housing Society, located at MIG Colony in Bandra East. The ambitious but sensitive involved the construction of a new building with a stilt area, ground floor and 22 upper floors, creating 65 luxurious apartments. It serves 16 society members and has met all its milestones successfully, serving as another illustrious example of Agami Realty’s thoughtful and future-driven vision that sets it apart in Mumbai’s real estate landscape.

“The sculpture was conceived and executed as a tribute to both Kalanagar’s status as a historic enclave of art and culture, as well as the project’s community-centric and inclusive outlook,” says Prashant Khandelwal, CEO of Agami Realty and Joint Secretary of CREDAI MCHI. “Our project is a boutique development that has been designed with Reza Kabul’s signature philosophy of ‘design should liberate spaces, not enclose them’. We wanted to pay homage to both the iconic district and our belief in creating landmarks that infuse art into living ecosystems, making them more accessible, aspirational and aesthetic. Our decision to join hands with the reputed architect-turned-sculptor Arzan Khambatta was rooted in his own design journey and a shared resonance of what we wanted this piece to symbolise,” he adds.

Commenting on the design process, Arzan Khambatta shared: “The vision for Lady Eternity began with a simple yet profound truth – while human lives pass, what truly endures is love. A home is where eternal love is nurtured, and it is a woman who is at the heart of every home. To bring the vision to life, we chose two timeless symbols as the main elements of the sculpture — the infinity loop representing the endless continuum of time, and the feminine form as a motif defining the cradle of unconditional love. Lady Eternity thus stands tall as a metal figure holding the infinity loop like a flying kite, with the strings connecting the infinity loop also passing through the figure’s heart. The kite, weaving into her form and eventually passing through the heart, serves as a visual metaphor for humanity’s desire to be eternal, but ultimately what is truly eternal is love.”

    Hightlights

    • Agami Eternity is a boutique development in the historic Kalanagar, Bandra East enclave
    • The sculpture, designed to represent Eternity, fuses together the endless continuum of time and the feminine cradle of unconditional love
    • The collaboration encapsulates Agami Realty’s pioneering vision that transcends and embraces art, architecture and community-driven design

In addition to the metal backdrop, Lady Eternity is adorned with rose quartz crystals, which Khambatta envisioned as breathing life into her form. “Her pulse is healing, full of compassion and infinite renewal. In her presence, you are reminded that eternity is not found in the faraway stars, but in the heartbeat within you. To meditate on the symbol of infinity is to remember a tender truth: we were never born and we will never die. What we call beginnings and endings are just gentle turns in the eternal curve of being. In essence, Lady Eternity is a mirror of your own eternal self — of love looping endlessly, radiant and unbroken,” he elaborates.

Another anchoring perspective is of Lady Eternity as the cradle of aspiration. Here, the kite is a metaphor, soaring into the infinite by harnessing the winds of resistance, just as people rise by embracing life’s various challenges and opportunities. The strings of this kite, passing through her heart, are a powerful reminder that home is both anchor and launchpad, grounding us in love as we attempt to soar towards the sky.

Thus, Lady Eternity intertwines two stories: one of love as the eternal essence of life, and another of aspiration as the eternal journey of the human spirit. Both flow into each other, inviting residents and passers-by the freedom to find their own reflection within her form. Each intrepid reflection reveals another layer of meaning and a deeper reflection of what it takes to build homes that have community at their heart – a sentiment that is intrinsic to Agami Realty’s approach to development.

  • Nagaland Celebrates Creativity and Innovation in Classrooms at the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Fair 2025

Nagaland Celebrates Creativity and Innovation in Classrooms at the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Fair 2025

Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Honourable Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, interacting with students at the PBL Fair in Dimapur

Dimapur (Nagaland) [India], October 17: The Department of School Education (DoSE) and Samagra Shiksha, in collaboration with the Education Above All Foundation, Mantra4Change, NagaED, and ShikshaLokam, hosted the first-ever Project-Based Learning (PBL) Fair, Nagaland, today in Dimapur. The event showcased the creativity and innovation of over 80 schools from Dimapur, featuring exhibits by 160 teachers, 320 students, and 50 school leaders who implemented PBL projects.

The fair was graced by Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Honourable Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, as the Chief Guest, along with senior officials from the state, district, and block levels.

Through project displays, storytelling sessions, and student interactions, participants demonstrated how concepts in English and Mathematics were brought to life, from designing Naga-inspired shawls that integrated art and math to setting up mini-stores that helped students apply multiplication in real-world contexts.

The fair also featured recognition of outstanding teachers and schools, dialogues on classroom innovation, and cultural performances celebrating the state’s vibrant learning ecosystem.

The fair offered a glimpse into how classrooms across Nagaland are weaving local culture into modern learning practices. At one of the exhibits, Petsula Atsula, a Class 5 student from GMS Kuda, Dimapur Urban, explained how everyday life has become part of her lessons, “Learning fractions was hard for me at first. But when my teacher taught it using Naga shawls, it became much easier! She showed us how the shapes on the shawl can be turned into fractions, and then asked me to make my own shawl from a fraction. I brought the shawl design I made to the PBL fair today!”

The PBL Fair marks a significant milestone in Nagaland’s education journey, one that has steadily evolved from strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy to fostering inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving in classrooms.

During his keynote address, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Honourable Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, said, “We need to bring 21st-century skills into our classrooms. So far, we have focused on improving language and numeracy at the micro level, but now it’s time to think bigger. The PBL fair in Nagaland truly shows how project-based learning is transforming education here. I am very happy to see our students engage, experiment, and excel. With the support of organisations and educators, we can empower every child in Nagaland to build their own future.”

Also present at the event were Smt. Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha; Shri. Kelhika Kenhe, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha; and Smt. Jeevika Kiba, District Education Officer, Dimapur.

The jury panel, comprising experts from SCERT Nagaland — Vepilu Chuzho, Lipoknukshi Jamir, and Lichumbeni Kikon,  evaluated the projects showcased by students and teachers.

    Innovative Learning through Projects

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an innovative, student-centred pedagogy that moves beyond rote memorisation, encouraging students to explore real-world challenges, collaborate with peers, and apply classroom knowledge in meaningful contexts.

The PBL program is designed to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and 21st-century skills among students, preparing them to thrive in an evolving world. The initiative responds to a pressing educational challenge: as per ASER 2024, only 27.1% of Grade 5 children in Nagaland’s government schools can read a Grade 2-level text, and only 12.7% can perform division. According to NAS 2021, the state’s average performance stands at 53% in Language and 35% in Mathematics.

In Nagaland, the Department of School Education (DoSE) and Samagra Shiksha, in collaboration with Education Above All, NagaED, Mantra4Change, and ShikshaLokam, introduced PBL in 2025 as part of their continued effort to improve teaching-learning practices and student engagement. The pilot was rolled out in two districts – Dimapur and Kiphire, targeting Grades 4 and 5 in English and Mathematics.

To understand the existing learning landscape, a dipstick study was first conducted among 50 students from each Grade 4 and 5 in both districts, assessing competencies in English and Mathematics. The findings from this study guided the design of 16 curriculum-aligned projects —

    • 4 projects each in Language and Mathematics for Grade 4, and
    • 4 projects each in Language and Mathematics for Grade 5.

Each project was mapped directly to the Nagaland State Textbooks, ensuring contextual, experiential learning that teachers could easily integrate into their classrooms.

Teachers, school leaders, and block officials were oriented in July 2025, followed by the first phase of implementation in August. The pilot program is currently underway in Dimapur and Kiphire, reaching 3,000 students, 400 teachers, and 200 schools. The proposed scale-up plan envisions expanding to 11 districts, 1,500 schools, 2,500+ teachers, and 17,800+ students.

Santosh More, Co-Founder, Mantra4Change, said, “Our work in Nagaland reflects what’s possible when teachers, leaders, and partners come together around a shared vision for change. Through Project-Based Learning, we are not just introducing a new pedagogy; we’re enabling Education Leaders to lead transformation from within the system. The collective effort behind this initiative shows how sustained collaboration can strengthen public education at every level.”

    Partnerships Driving Systemic Change

The PBL initiative is part of a broader transformation journey led by the Department of School Education (DoSE) and Samagra Shiksha, with Education Above All Foundation serving as the funding and knowledge partner, and Mantra4Change/ShikshaLokam as the implementation partner.

Together, these partners are building state-wide capacity for experiential learning,  empowering teachers, strengthening academic mentoring systems, and creating a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within schools.

This PBL initiative is one of many micro-improvements implemented under Shikshagraha, a people-powered movement to improve all public schools in the country,  through collective action and local leadership. Desco Infratech Signs MoU for Hydrogen–Natural Gas Blending, Powering Self-Reliant India

Surat (Gujarat) [India], October 18: India’s clean energy drive just found a new ignition point. Desco Infratech Limited has joined hands with KPI Green Hydrogen and Naveriya Gas Pvt. Ltd. to bring hydrogen–natural gas blending to the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector — and it could change the game for India’s energy independence.

    A Future Fueled by Innovation

The race to decarbonise isn’t just about installing solar panels or wind farms anymore — it’s about rethinking what flows through our pipelines. On October 18, 2025, in Surat, Desco Infratech Limited signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KPI Green Hydrogen and Naveriya Gas Pvt. Ltd. to roll out India’s first large-scale Hydrogen–Natural Gas Blending Projects in the CGD sector.

Let’s decode what that means. Hydrogen is the cleanest fuel on Earth, and natural gas is one of the most efficient. Blend them, and you get a transitional energy cocktail that lowers emissions without overhauling existing infrastructure. For a country like India — still heavily dependent on imported LNG — this is more than an engineering upgrade. It’s a strategic pivot toward Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The Power Trio: Who Does What

The partnership is built like a perfectly balanced ecosystem:

    • KPI Green Hydrogen will take charge of producing Green Hydrogen — created through electrolysis using renewable power sources.

    • Desco Infratech, the engineering brain of the operation, will provide blending technology and infrastructure expertise to merge hydrogen with natural gas seamlessly.

    • Naveriya Gas will act as the delivery arm, integrating this blended fuel into the City Gas Distribution network, ensuring stable supply and safety compliance.

The result? A more carbon-efficient, scalable, and sustainable energy grid that makes practical use of existing gas infrastructure.

    India’s Dependence Dilemma

India may boast natural gas reserves, but the story isn’t rosy. The country still relies heavily on imported LNG, leaving its energy economy exposed to volatile global prices and geopolitical twists. The Desco-KPI-Naveriya collaboration is designed to counter that — turning import dependency into domestic resilience.

By introducing hydrogen into the CGD mix, India can use less imported gas without sacrificing energy output. It’s energy efficiency with a geopolitical edge.

    Why Hydrogen Blending Matters

Hydrogen blending is the kind of engineering solution that sounds deceptively simple. But its impact is massive. It cuts carbon emissions from gas usage by up to 30%, while leveraging existing pipeline networks — meaning the transition is faster, cheaper, and less disruptive.

It’s like updating your smartphone OS instead of buying a new device — smarter, faster, and easier to scale.

For the CGD sector, this means cities could soon run on cleaner gas mixtures without waiting for entirely new infrastructure rollouts. It’s sustainable progress without the typical bureaucratic lag.

Desco Infratech: Engineering the Energy Transition

Desco Infratech isn’t just another engineering contractor. The company has built its name on crafting infrastructure that does more than just function — it future-proofs. With this project, Desco is signaling where India’s industrial backbone is heading: toward sustainable, smart, and resilient systems.

Mr. Malhar P. Desai, Whole-Time Director of Desco Infratech, summed it up best:

“This partnership is a responsibility we owe to future generations. Together, we are blending innovation with sustainability to power a greener, stronger India.”

That statement isn’t just corporate politeness — it’s a strategic declaration. Desco is staking its flag firmly in India’s clean-tech territory, where the future belongs to companies that can blend engineering precision with environmental responsibility.

    India’s Green Push Gets Muscle

India has set ambitious net-zero targets by 2070, and hydrogen is the key protagonist in that narrative. Blending projects like this don’t just align with the government’s green energy roadmap — they accelerate it.

With the Hydrogen Mission already gaining traction, private sector collaborations like this are what will determine whether the mission remains an idea or becomes a nationwide movement.

It’s not just about producing green hydrogen. It’s about integrating it where it matters most — into the mainstream fuel mix that powers homes, industries, and cities.

    From Vision to Impact

If executed effectively, this alliance could set the template for India’s regional CGD operators, inspiring replications across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and beyond.

Imagine a scenario where every city in India has partial hydrogen blending in its pipelines. That’s lower carbon intensity, improved energy security, and thousands of new green jobs — without ripping up a single kilometre of pipeline.

That’s not a fantasy. It’s what partnerships like Desco’s are quietly building toward.

The Bigger Picture: Self-Reliance Meets Sustainability

The beauty of this collaboration is how it mirrors India’s broader philosophy — innovation rooted in self-reliance. For decades, energy imports have been India’s Achilles’ heel. But projects like this one flip that narrative.

They prove that India’s industrial ecosystem can innovate, adapt, and execute green solutions that are homegrown, scalable, and globally competitive.

This isn’t just about energy. It’s about engineering India’s independence — molecule by molecule.
