  • Smita Banerjee Sasmal honoured with Black Swan Award for “Women Empowerment.”

    The award was bestowed on the philanthropist-entrepreneur by AsiaOne in association with Global Compact Network UAE

    Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], November 9: Noted philanthropist and entrepreneur Smita Banerjee Sasmal has been awarded the prestigious Black Swan Award for her contribution to women empowerment.

    The award, given by AsiaOne, in association with the Global Compact Network UAE, the local network of the UN Global Compact, recognises modern women who use their passion, determination, and perseverance to draw attention to and address the issues facing children and women in rural India.

    The award acknowledges Smita Banerjee Sasmal’s excellent contribution in driving a change at the grassroots level. She was presented the award by actress and Miss Diva Universe 2015 Urvashi Rautela & Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to UAE, Rashid Sesay.

    “I feel honoured and humbled on receiving this award. The award will motivate not just me, but many more women in India, to work to empower women and children all over India and help them lead a better life,” said Smita Banerjee Sasmal.

    Smita Banerjee Sasmal is the founder of Sampurti, which works for women empowerment, water conservation, child education, environment preservation, and other crucial causes for the past several years, and has helped bring a positive change in the lives of the poorest of the poor.

    The NGO supports various projects such as distribution of educational items, tree plantation, health and hygiene training for school girls, among others. The outfit donated food grains and other essential items, besides helping victims of recent floods in East Midnapore in West Bengal rebuild their homes by providing building materials. It has also launched other programmes for rural women as a part of the “Be Self-Dependent” initiative.

    “Sampurti supports various causes, but I am especially passionate about improving the lives of young girls, especially those living in rural areas. They face patriarchy, abuse, inequality at home and outside, besides other forms of discrimination. I believe education is the key to empowering women. We provide counselling, financial help, and other support to educate girls in rural areas and help them chart a better future for themselves,” she adds.

  • Mayur Mehta starrer ‘Nobel Peace’ has been released on Jio Cinema

    Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 8: Nobel Peace, a film that recently bagged the best film award at the 10th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2020 and the best screenplay award at the Indian Cine Film Festival 2020, is now streaming on Jio Cinema.

    Bollywood actor Mayur Mehta, who got fame through Zee TV Serial “Aur Pyar Ho Gya”, has played the lead role in the film. He said, “I played a very interesting character of Asif Alam in the film, where initially the character’s mind was focused on his religion. The character depicts the mental block of a person where even a help, support, or suggestion from someone seemed like they are trying to brainwash you.”

    Mehta added, “It was a challenge for me to play this character. But I realized that humanity is above all and how small things or videos made by his friend brought smiles and changes in the lives of others. The videos were not related to a particular religion, and that there was a message which this film tried to put across. This world will be a better place if we consider humanity as our religion and let the Love & Peace prevail!”

    The film Nobel Peace revolves around how the lead character gets influenced by certain things and chooses the wrong path. A professor’s teachings play an important role in Asif Alam’s life and direct him to seek the right direction. It is an undying quest for truth. It also stars Mudasir Zafar, Aarti Sharma, and others.

    Nobel Peace has been directed and written by Astik Dalai, presented by O.P Rai’s Kala Niketan Entertainment. The film is now streaming on Jio Cinema.

    Mayur Mehta finished the shooting of web series based on cybercrime, where he played a pivotal character based on the real-life of Professor Triveni Singh, who is the first cyber cop of India.

  • Fintech start-up Zenpay Solutions raises angel round from a group of investors led by The StartupLab and AngelBay

    Zenpay Solutions is helping the unbanked blue-collared workers of India by providing banking solutions, thereby driving financial inclusion to the Indian Economy

    New Delhi (India), November 09: Fintech start-up Zenpay Solutions has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by AngelBay and The StartupLab with participation from investors such as Pavitra Walwekar and Naresh Vigh of Kudos Finance, Ashish Mittal – founder of Smart Kitchen, Nitin Agarwal – founder of B21, Anant Aggarwal, Managing Director Viney Equity Market & Raghav Singhal, Director Om Logistics Ltd. in their latest round of funding. The company had earlier raised their friends and family round in May 2020.

    Founded in 2018, In a short period, Zenpay has benefitted over 150,000 customers across India by increasing its reach and targeting customers, especially from the semi-rural and rural sectors who do not have access to banking services. Over the next six months, the company aims to expand its reach by creating 2,00,000 new customers across India and plans to create a customer base of 1 million customers by 2022.

    According to the start-up, it has processed over INR 600 cr in transaction volume, supporting over 150,000 blue-collar workers in the process.

    According to Zenpay Solutions, the fresh capital will be used to expand its technology and sales team and to build its services to serve and support its rapidly expanding customer and corporate base.

    Commenting on the successful closing of the funding round, Ankit Bhargava, founder & CEO of Zenpay Solutions, said: “Zenpay Solutions is driving the development of a much richer, broader financial technology ecosystem that goes well beyond banking to include Rural and Blue Collared Workforce. Our products will create the much-needed affordability for blue-collar workers and allow us to build digital banking solutions for individuals who may not have had access otherwise.”

    London, November 08: Recently, the Global Ambassador Awards of Excellence was held in London, in which people from 50 countries took part. Rajesh Srivastav, the National President of Shikshadan Abhiyan Federation from India, was honored with this award. The award was presented by Business Man and International Social Worker Simon Smith.

    It is for the first time an Indian has received such an honor. Srivastav had been selected in London under the education donation campaign. The event was organized by Princess Peace Essence, CEO of Panache Global Entertainment, UK. It is for the first time an Indian has received this honor.

    Rajesh Srivastav is working for free education, and in October 2019, Shikshadan Abhiyan Federation was launched with the hands of Shri Anna Hazare. Since then, this campaign is working continuously. He said that he wants to thank the organizer of the event for this recognization. He further said that Shikshadan Abhiyan’s main motive is to provide free education for the unprivileged section of the society so that no one will be deprived of education.
