Team Shabnam: Two Decades of Thoughtful Design

    Shabnam Alam

New Delhi [India], May 14: Founded in 2004 by Shabnam Alam, Team Shabnam has spent over 20 years turning ordinary rooms into extraordinary environments. With a Master’s degree in Interior Design and a portfolio that spans in and across Kolkata. Shabnam Alam brings a deep level of expertise to every project she touches.

A Blend of Styles and Heritage

What sets Shabnam Alam apart is her versatility. She doesn’t stick to just one “look.” Instead, her design and creativity explore a wide range of styles to fit her clients’ needs, including:

    • Modern & Contemporary: Clean lines and fresh ideas.
    • Luxury & Minimalist: High-end finishes meet clutter-free living.
    • Classical & Neo-Classical: Timeless elegance and grand proportions. One of her signature touches is the seamless integration of Indian heritage. She often incorporates traditional artwork and local craftsmanship into modern settings, creating spaces that feel both sophisticated and rooted in culture.

    Function Meets Comfort

For Team Shabnam, a beautiful room is useless if it isn’t comfortable. The firm specializes in “practical luxury”-designs that look high-end but are built for daily life. Whether it’s a cozy private home or a massive 50,000 sq. ft. commercial headquarters, the goal remains the same: merging style with total functionality.

    Quality You Can Feel

The team is committed to more than just aesthetics. They prioritize:

    • Durability: Using the best materials and construction methods so your investment lasts for years.
    • Sustainability: Focusing on green, organic, and eco-friendly choices whenever possible. Technology: Using 3D design tools to help clients visualize their new space before a single hammer swings.

    Looking Forward

Based in Kolkata but working well beyond its borders, Team Shabnam continues to take on prestigious and challenging new projects with a focus on modern and useful concepts. With twenty years of happy clients as their foundation, Shabnam Alam and her team remain dedicated to the idea that the best designs are a perfect mix of simplicity and creativity.

     What Sets Team Shabnam Apart?

In this field, Team Shabnam stands out by focusing on “Quiet Luxury”—the idea that a space should feel expensive and high-quality without being loud or over-the-top.

Unlike many firms that stick to Western trends, Shabnam Alam camouflages Indian heritage (like traditional Bengali antiques or Rajasthani craftsmanship) with contemporary and modern technology. This results in a home that feels globally modern but personally rooted. It also focuses on longevity. By using the finest organic materials and sustainable construction.

The Value Created for Clients and Associates for Customers

Shabnam Alam believes a clutter-free space leads to a clutter-free mind. Her designs focus on positive vibes and “breathing room,” ensuring a home or office reduces stress. She doesn’t impose a “signature style”. Instead, she steps into the client’s shoes and creates a story through the furniture, textures, and layout.

With advanced 3D conceptualization, clients see exactly what they are paying for before the work begins, eliminating surprises and hidden costs.

     For Associates & Partners

Having 20 years of experience means she values the workmanship of vendors and artisans. Partners benefit from clear briefs, professional management, and a commitment to using authentic, high-quality materials.

     Expanding the Vision

Future cities, while Kolkata remains the heart of the firm, Team Shabnam has already successfully delivered multiple projects across major Indian hubs. Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, the firm is expanding its footprint to bring its unique blend of “simplicity and creativity”.

Team Shabnam isn’t just about decorating rooms; it’s about creating an “extraordinary living environment” that balances the art of Indian tradition with the science of modern living.

  • In the Age of AI, Telangana’s CogniCHAMP Is Measuring What Machines Cannot

In the Age of AI, Telangana’s CogniCHAMP Is Measuring What Machines Cannot

When 1.12 lakh students across Telangana were assessed not on what they memorised, but on how they think, it marked the quiet beginning of a national reckoning with how India defines merit.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 14: In a country where a child’s worth has long been measured in percentages and rank lists, something unusual happened in Hyderabad on the 9th of May, 2026. In a room filled with students, parents, educators, and policymakers, the applause was not for those who scored highest on an exam. It was for those who demonstrated how they think.

The CogniCHAMP India Scholarship — Telangana Edition 2026 — is not a quiz competition, nor a board topper felicitation. It is, by design and by philosophy, something fundamentally different: a state-wide cognitive assessment that evaluated over 1.12 lakh students across 387 schools on the skills that the next decade of work will actually demand — reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, and independent thought.

The initiative is the flagship programme of CognitiveScore.ai, co-founded by Kirti Kumar Jain and Vikram Singh Negi. Their central argument is one that educators have whispered for years, but few have had the institutional courage to act on: marks can be memorised, answers can be generated by artificial intelligence, but thinking cannot be outsourced.

“In a world where AI can answer any question, the real differentiator is how a child thinks. CogniCHAMP is a step towards recognising and nurturing that ability at scale.”

    — Kirti Kumar Jain, Co-Founder, CognitiveScore.ai

That the initiative chose Telangana as its first canvas is itself significant. The state, already established as a national leader in technology and innovation, is now beginning to ask harder questions about what its future workforce should look like — and how education must evolve to meet that demand.

    Recognising the Right Minds

The CogniCHAMP Awards 2026 celebrated the top performers across four academic categories — Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary — alongside the three schools that demonstrated the highest collective cognitive performance across their student body.

Delhi Public School, Hyderabad, claimed the top school ranking, followed by St. Alphonsus High School, Nalgonda, in second place and St. Andrews School, Hyderabad, in third, a result that notably placed a school from a smaller district ahead of several established metropolitan institutions, underlining that cognitive potential is distributed across Telangana, not concentrated in its capital.

Among students, the recognised scholars spanned every level: Zayan Ashar, Rrishan Jain, and Suhakshitha in the Foundational category; Akinepally Rukmini Krishna Atharv, Anthadpula Isaac, and Shaik Hafsa in the Preparatory category; Yuvana Mavuram, Cheerla Abhi Ram, and Melissa Susai in the Middle category; and Vangala Dhruvanath, Naikoti Bharath Chandr, and Moksh Jain in the Secondary category. Their names will be recorded in the first chapter of what their founders believe will become a national movement.

    A Signal from the State

Gracing the occasion as Special Guest of Honour was Shri Jayaprakash Narayan Garu, Founder and President of the Loksatta Party, whose decades of advocacy for systemic reform in governance and education lent the event an intellectual gravity rarely seen at school award ceremonies.

CogniCHAMP’s first edition is a Telangana story. But its founders are explicit about where it is headed: a national initiative that eventually reframes how every state, every school, and every parent understands what it means for a child to be bright. In the AI era, the most important thing a student can develop is not a better memory; it is a sharper mind.

  • The LaLiT’s Role in Restoring Srinagar’s Pride: From Royal Residence to Cultural Bridge

The LaLiT’s Role in Restoring Srinagar’s Pride: From Royal Residence to Cultural Bridge

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 13: True hospitality goes beyond offering comfort; it also plays an important role in preserving the cultural identity of a destination. When a hotel protects local heritage, it becomes a bridge between generations — allowing guests to experience traditions, architecture, and stories that might otherwise fade with time.

The LaLiT Grand Palace Srinagar reflects this philosophy through its continued commitment to preserving Kashmir’s royal and cultural legacy. Originally commissioned by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1910 as a summer residence, the palace today stands as an enduring symbol of Kashmir’s heritage while also contributing to the region’s tourism and local economy.

Its architecture beautifully blends European influences with traditional Dogra craftsmanship, featuring locally quarried stone masonry and iconic verandahs overlooking Dal Lake. Surrounded by the Himalayan ranges, the heritage property today offers 113 palace rooms and 10 cottages along with banqueting facilities, a shopping arcade, and wellness experiences.

Over the decades, the palace has hosted several prominent historical figures, including Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Mountbatten, further strengthening its place in India’s historical narrative.

In 1998, during a challenging period for the region, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group took over the property then known as The Grand Palace and undertook a careful restoration process. By preserving the original structure, antique furniture, and the iconic Chinar trees across the estate, the group helped restore and protect an important part of Kashmir’s architectural heritage.

Beyond its historical significance, the hotel has continued to support tourism, hospitality, and local employment in the valley through periods of uncertainty. For many local families, it has represented stability, opportunity, and pride.

The property also serves as a cultural window into Kashmir’s traditions — from local crafts and cuisine to the warmth and spirit of Kashmiriyat. It continues to offer travellers an opportunity to experience the beauty, heritage, and resilience of Kashmir through an authentic hospitality experience.
