  • ‘Gap Between Sangh’s Image and Reality Over 100 Years Is Unfortunate,’ says Nitin Gadkari

‘Gap Between Sangh’s Image and Reality Over 100 Years Is Unfortunate,’ says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi [India], February 17: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, known for his focus on nation-building, has highlighted Shatak: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ke 100 Varsh as a cinematic glimpse into a little-known chapter of India’s nation-building. He noted that while the Sangh’s contributions are widely discussed, there has often been a gap between public perception and the ground reality.

Urging people to watch the film to better understand the Sangh and its role in shaping the nation, Gadkari said, “As a volunteer, I sometimes feel there has been a gap between image and reality, or between perception and the ground truth. Unfortunately, this has happened with the Sangh. I invite you to come closer, explore its ideology, and understand the spirit of sacrifice, dedication, and patriotism. See the scale of individual development work, from service to tribal regions, from cooperatives to education. In the progress and development of our nation, the credit for these achievements belongs to the Sangh.”

He added, “I have worked on roads, bridges, expressways, and tunnels. I am not an engineer, nor did I have prior experience. Many ask how I managed, and I say: I am a volunteer of the Sangh and a worker of the Student Council. The values I received from these institutions guided my work, and that is why I continued.”

Inviting people to step forward, he said, “I believe we should all come together to celebrate this centenary, understand the Sangh, and embrace its ideology in our lives. I sincerely request you to watch this film and make an effort to understand the Sangh.”

Talking about the Sangh, Gadkari said, “Over these 100 years, the RSS has inspired millions of young people with patriotism and the spirit of nation-building. I am proud to say that I, too, am one of the many small volunteers who have received this inspiration.”

He added, “Because of their dedication, we celebrate this historic 100 years today. Yet, the work is far from complete. Our goal is to make India a world leader. In every field—social, economic, and educational—we aim to work so that our country rises to the top globally.”

Gadkari further stated, “We strive to uplift Dalits, the oppressed, and marginalized communities, those struggling with poverty, hunger, and unemployment, and work to change their lives. We are Indians, and Hindutva is our Indian identity. Indian identity is Hindutva. It is a timeless cultural heritage passed down from our ancestors. Hindutva is neither casteist nor communal, nor is it tied to any single religion. It is a way of life. People of all faiths can be Indian, and Indian identity is rooted in our history, culture, and heritage. This is the inspiration that the RSS has given us.”

Shatak: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ke 100 Varsh traces the Sangh’s ideological evolution, social initiatives, and national service across generations. The trailer, released recently, has generated wide discussion and interest. The film is scheduled for release in cinemas across India on 20 February 2026.

  • Echoes of Heritage: A Spellbinding Sitar-Tabla Jugalbandi Illuminates the Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet

Echoes of Heritage: A Spellbinding Sitar-Tabla Jugalbandi Illuminates the Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet

From Left to Right:  Manas Vora, Rehman Naushad, Uttam Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Bhagirath Bhatt

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 06: In an era where the sacred traditions of Indian classical music are tenderly guarded by dedicated custodians, the Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet stands as a beacon of cultural preservation. On the evening of Saturday, January 31st, 2026, the attendees resonated with the timeless strains of a Sitar-Tabla Jugalbandi that transported a mesmerized audience to a bygone era of musical purity.

The recital featured the virtuosity of world renowned Sitarist Bhagirath Bhatt and the rhythmic brilliance of eminent Tabla player Manas Vora. Their performance was not merely a concert but a testament to the enduring vitality of the classical tradition, maintained today through the unwavering patronage of institutions like the Naushad Academy.

A Tapestry of Raags and Rhythm

The evening commenced with the melancholic grandeur of Raag Kirwani. Bhatt unfolded the raag with a beautifully structured Alap, Jod, and Jhala, allowing the warm, resonant strains of the sitar to permeate the silence. His intricate finger work crisscrossed the frets, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that shifted effortlessly from serene introspection to powerful rhythmic vibrancy.

The narrative then transitioned to Raag Charukeshi, rendered with remarkable depth and finesse. Bhatt presented a mesmerizing bandish set to a rare 9-matra taal, followed by a spirited bandish in Drut Teen Taal. It was here when Manas Vora’s tabla entered the dialogue, blending seamlessly with the melodic flow of the sitar.

The resulting Jugalbandi was a display of electric chemistry—a rhythmic dialogue of energy, texture, and precision. The interplay generated waves of pure musical energy, oscillating between the contemplative and the exhilarating, transporting listeners to heightened states of ecstasy. The escalating tempos and complex rhythmic patterns reflected the artist’s profound understanding of the Hindustani classical idiom.

    A Homage to Legends

The recital concluded on a soulful note with a bandish in Raag Mishra Pahadi. In a moments of deep emotional resonance, Bhatt rendered the iconic composition “Udja Kale Kawan,” paying a heartfelt tribute to its creator, the legendary composer Shri Uttam Singh Jee, who was present in the audience. This moving homage stood out as one of the evening’s most memorable highlights.

World-renowned composer and Music Director Shri Uttam Singh Jee remarked, ‘Having witnessed numerous sitar performances, I was deeply impressed by Bhagirath Bhatt’s mastery over his instrument, and Manas was equally good on tabla. Bhagirath Jee’s playing was truly soulful and spellbinding. If and when given a chance, I certainly will have Bhagirath Jee play for me in the times ahead.’

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rehman Naushad observed, ‘It was an honour to witness and be part of this exceptional recital. Bhagirath Bhatt Sahab has an immensely bright future ahead of him, much like that of Shr Ravi Shankar Jee. I wish him every success.

Esteemed composer and producer Shri Gurmeet Singh (son of Uttam Singh) shared the story of the duo’s discovery: Through a recommendation, I watched Bhagirath Bhatt Jee’s performances on YouTube and was instantly struck by how tuneful yet technically accomplished he is. My team immediately reached out to him, he was overwhelmed and accepted to perform. I was truly mesmerised by the duo’s performance and look forward to many future collaborations.

  • Pony Verma Presents SUR, A Soulful Short Film That Listens to the Unheard Voice of Artists

Pony Verma Presents SUR, A Soulful Short Film That Listens to the Unheard Voice of Artists

Presented by Pony Verma, SUR is an intimate, honest short film that captures the quiet resilience, vulnerability, and emotional truth of an artist’s life beyond the spotlight.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 06: SUR, a poignant short film presented by renowned artist and choreographer Pony Verma, brings to the forefront a deeply human story that exists far beyond performance and applause. Produced by Mango Curry Films Pvt. Ltd., in association with Kings of Bollywood and WonKru, the film is directed by Abhay Chopra and produced by Shamshad Khan and Nilesh Nanaware, founders of Mango Curry Films, and Shivam Gupta.

Rooted in the everyday realities of Mumbai’s chawls and local trains, SUR follows the journey of Sandeep, a struggling singer whose relationship with music is not a choice, but a necessity. Living with his father a once-passionate painter now half-blind and defeated, Sandeep finds himself trapped between societal expectations and an inner calling that refuses to fade.

As the pressure to “earn a living” intensifies, Sandeep is repeatedly reminded of a brutal truth echoed around him: “Art se pet nahi bharta.” His father’s frustration peaks when he bans Sandeep from practising music and sells his harmonium, pushing the young artist into emotional isolation and despair. What follows is a quiet yet powerful exploration of dignity, validation, and the fragile moments that keep an artist alive.

Starring Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Roshann Rajesh Chauhan, SUR presents performances steeped in restraint and realism, mirroring lives shaped by compromise, suppressed dreams, and unspoken pain. The film gently blurs the line between survival and self-expression, asking whether art can ever truly be separated from identity.

Speaking about her association with the film, Pony Verma shared that SUR resonated with her on a deeply personal level. “What exists beyond the screen is the discipline, vulnerability, and quiet resilience that shape every honest story. Sur reflects this unseen world with rare authenticity; it understands the life of an artist, where music, movement, and emotion become a language of truth, not performance. Presenting Sur feels deeply personal to me, as it mirrors the artistic journeys I have witnessed around me, stories driven by conviction, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to craft. This film is a sincere tribute to the spirit of creation, which is why it holds such meaning for me.”

Sharing his vision behind the film, Director Abhay Chopra said, “SUR comes from lived spaces from Mumbai’s local trains, cramped chawls, unanswered auditions, and the quiet suffering artists carry every day. This film is not about success or recognition; it is about endurance. Sometimes, after years of struggle, all it takes is one small moment of validation to keep an artist alive. SUR is for every artist who continues to hold on, even when the world asks them to let go.”

At its core, SUR is not just a story of a father and son, it is a reflection of two artists broken by the same world, separated by time but bound by unfulfilled dreams. In its quiet final moments, the film leaves audiences with a lingering truth: art never truly dies, it survives in fragments, waiting to be heard.

  • Surat to host organic Mud Fest on Dhuleti, attract participants from India and abroad

Surat to host organic Mud Fest on Dhuleti, attract participants from India and abroad

Surat (Gujarat) [India], February 06: Giving a unique and contemporary identity to the traditional celebration of Dhuleti, Surat is set to host the sixth edition of Mud Fest on March 4 at Triyom Club near Aabhwa Chowkdi. The event is being organised by Colours Events and Activations, with the support of Suresh Gondaliya, Managing Director of Triyom Club.

Mud Fest presents Holi celebrations in an entirely organic format, replacing chemical-based colours with Multani mitti and natural clay, offering participants a safe and eco-friendly experience.

According to organisers Ornob Moitra & Krish Wadhwani Mud Fest is India’s first event to celebrate the original spirit of Dhuleti in an organic and sustainable manner.

“This concept combines tradition with health and environmental consciousness. The use of natural clay is beneficial for the skin and offers a natural glow like a facial treatment,” he said.

The upcoming event marks the sixth edition of Mud Fest in Surat and its first major comeback after the Covid-19 break. The organisers believe that post-pandemic, audiences are once again ready for large-scale and commercial events. The festival also aims to position Gujarat, particularly Surat, as a popular destination for domestic and international tourists.

Drawing a global parallel, Mr. Moitra said, “Just as people travel to Spain for the annual La Tomatina festival, we believe people from across the world will now travel to Surat to experience Mud Fest. We are expecting participation from thousands of visitors from India and overseas.”

Mud Fest will also feature performances by Mumbai-based DJ Reena Barot, along with other DJs, a rain dance arena, multiple activity zones and dedicated family-friendly areas where children can also participate safely. Special arrangements have been made for visitors, including locker facilities, separate changing rooms for women and well-organised amenities.

A key highlight this year is the introduction of private pits and a VIP lounge, allowing families and groups to enjoy the festivities within their own exclusive spaces. The festival venue will be spread across a massive 8,000 to 10,000 square yards, making it one of the largest Holi-themed events in the region.

Sharing a message for the city, the organisers said that Mud Fest is a matter of pride for Surat, as it has the potential to draw people to the city during Holi and Dhuleti, reducing the need to travel to destinations such as Pushkar or Goa for festive celebrations.
