December 08: Actor Manvir Singh expects his big release this week, Tusshar Kapoor starrer “Maarrich”. Manvir plays the character “Jamie”, a drug peddler in the movie. We candidly chatted with him about his role and expectations from the movie.

“Jamie is a different league character altogether. This is the first time I have played such a character, but I am confident about my work and how the movie has shaped me. Jamie is a drug peddler who’s about to face some serious flak. This character is leagues apart from anything I could imagine. Jamie peddles drugs while refusing to put any intoxicants into his own system. I had a chance to draw from my life here since I do not consume either alcohol or smoke off-screen,” he says.

“I had to learn how to make my drugs appealing. Playing a drug peddler was not an easy task. I watched world movies to find inspiration in terms of body language, dialogue delivery and behaviour patterns. I honestly feel I’ve succeeded in capturing the essence of Jamie.”

Moving along about Maarrich, Manvir says, “Due to a curious sequence of events, Jamie finds himself entangled with Tusshar Kapoor. This leads to a game of chase whose end you get to see in the theatres.”

There’s the businessman behind the actor, and I observe as he smiles. It seems Manvir is a rather method actor, something we don’t see many these days.

Ask him what his experience working with Tusshar Kapoor was like. He has nothing but praise to shower on his screen-mate. “It was great. I’ve been involved in the project right from the start. I’ve seen it go from Tusshar’s mind into the reel world, and it’s been a trip. I enjoyed working with the entire team. I especially enjoyed the song ‘Deewana’ which has both of us (Tusshar and Manvir) jamming out and dancing away to glory.”

“I’ve lived in and loved this city (Mumbai) all my life. They based Maarrich in Mumbai as well. Makes my life a whole lot easier!”

The movie hits cinema halls on the 9th of December.

Avatar was first released back on December 18, 2009. The producers did their best back then and were prepared for the giant screen as the film was in 3D. It came as a surprise to many of us now that they repurposed it in 4K High Dynamic Range.

Now the movie is looking better than ever & is set to be re-released on September 23, 2022.

The music video was shot in some of the beautiful locations of Uttrakhand. It has a very emotional storyline that will steal the hearts of many people. It portrays the story of two hearts that remains incomplete for some reason. The audience will be able to relate to the song. Sadhu Kabra is a multitalented person. He not only starred, produced, and directed the song but is the brain behind the storyline and the editor as well. He is also responsible for gathering a fantastic team. The people he worked with have nothing but good things to say about him which showcases his dedication and integrity.

Abhi Baba (DOP) says that he was approached by Sadhu Kabra for this music video project and is grateful to be a part of such a wonderful experience. He further states, “I’m from Haridwar, Uttrakhand and do pre-wedding shoots and cinematography. The moment I heard the song, I was very excited to be a part of this creative project with Sadhu Kabra. Sadhu Kabra is a very responsible person. The way he explained the entire sequence got me hooked. Also, there were no extras that would waste anyone’s time. He would organize these small meetings where he explained his ideas or anything he had in his mind concerning the music video with his teammates which made him a great director and producer. This experience will forever be a part of me.”

The Associate Director of the song, Azam Khan shares his experience of working with Sadhu Kabra, “When Sadhu came to me with this project where he was going to act and direct, I knew this was going to be a crazy experience. It was amazing how attuned he was with the entire making process. He would guide me through the process while he was in front of the screen. He never needed to come and take a look at the camera. He always knew when the shot was okay and when he needed a retake. The confidence he had without makeup to go in front of the camera was commendable.” Furthermore, he added that he would love to work on many more projects with Sadhu Kabra in the future and that, more than a professional bond, he sees him as his elder brother.

Co-star, Sima Sharma’s experience with Sadhu Kabra has been nothing short of amazing. “I remember when he approached me with the idea of casting me as a female lead for the ‘Tum Ho Toh’ music video. It was while we were having dinner after the packup of another project directed by Sadhu Kabra. He played the song for me, and I was instantly hooked. Once we finished with the other project, we started planning and working on this. More than a great director, he is one of the best co-stars I have ever had. He always took care of me. He made sure that I was well-fed before we started the shoot each day. He is a genuine and gentle soul. I’m happy to have worked with him. I hope that the audience will also love the music video as much I did while working on it.”

Sadhu says, “I have been wanting to work on this project for two years, but the time was never right. It got delayed due to so many reasons. However, I’m glad that it is finally here. I have given my hundred per cent to this, and I hope that people will love and support it with all their heart.”

 December 01: Aeronautical Engineer turned Miss India international Ayeesha S Aiman will be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Film “India Lockdown”, which is set to release on ZEE 5 on 2^nd Dec.

The film is based on the initial days of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic when the government called for a 21-day lockdown across the country. The trailer will send shivers down your spine as it recreated the horrors of the time when it was plain chaotic. The trailer of the film highlights how many people became jobless, the issue of migrant workers going back to their native places, and sex workers being deprived of their source of income.

The film, helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar, revolves around the traumatic experiences that transpired during the covid-19 pandemic. In the film, 26 years Old Ayeesha S Aiman will be seen essaying the role of a Sex worker in Kamathipura in Mumbai, who is forced to adapt to the changes brought about by the lockdown.

The former Beauty queen said, “I watched films like Mandi and Chandni Bar, which helped me portray the emotions and struggles of S*x workers living on the margins in a realistic way.  I also saw Waheeda Rahman’s Pyaasa”. It was necessary to watch these films and understand the struggles of the characters,” She added. “I met few S*x workers to prepare for the role. I am a keen observer. I observed how they would walk, how they live their mundane life and tried to understand their hardships,” the actress added.

When I was offered India Lockdown, “I said yes, without hearing about my character, I have chosen to do this film not by the length of the character but heart touching stories of the people during lockdown’. I immediately got interested in this film and role as I had full faith in Madhur Bhandarkar Sir,”

Ayeesha Added, “Normally, Miss India has their debut with the Glam role, but I opted for a very strong role where I had almost carried no make-up look and normal clothes. I had really different choice when it was about my debut in Bollywood, I had many offers, though, but I wanted to choose something where I could learn the craft of acting, so there was no better opportunity than India Lockdown. I have not chosen this film because of the length of my character but the story of which touches the lives of everyone,” Added Ayeesha

Inspired by true events, written by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Shah, ‘India Lockdown’ will depict four parallel stories and the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on the people of India. The trailer of India Lockdown had its premiere in IIFI Goa, and Ayeesha’s performance has already created a strong buzz among peers in the Industry.

‘India Lockdown’ is set for a direct-to-digital release on ZEE5 on December 2. The film is produced by Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios, Bhandarkar Entertainment and Pranav Jain’s PJ Motions Pictures.

The documentary has been made by noted creative director and filmmaker Vivek Shah

Ahmedabad, November 30: A documentary on Sheth CN Vidyavihar, which is also known as the ‘Santiniketan’ of West India, made by its former students, was released on the school’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.

All current and former students and employees have a strong emotional attachment to CN Vidyavihar. It was this close bond that inspired Vandan Dalal and Jigen Sherdalal, belonging to the CN Vidyavihar’s 1982 batch, to come up with the idea of making a documentary on the school.

The former students approached Vivek Shah, city-based creative director and founder of Reva Films, for the documentary, who readily agreed to work on the project. He conceptualised the whole documentary, finalised the narration, and chose the speakers to be featured. With the school’s support, Mr. Shah and his team interviewed dozens of alumni, and past and current teachers and employees for the documentary. The filmmakers also conducted extensive research for the documentary.

“The documentary on CN Vidyavihar was borne out of our desire to do something for the school. There are few institutions that can match the history and immense contribution of CN Vidyavihar to society. We are happy that our proposal was supported by everyone. The result is Samarpan, which beautifully presents the Gandhian values of CN Vidyavihar and its glorious history of more than 110 years,” said Vandan Dalal.

The documentary was screened before 4,500 students, teachers, and employees at the school recently and was widely appreciated.

“The purpose of the documentary was to make students and employees aware of CN Vidyavihar’s unmatched history and to inspire them to become ideal citizens by inculcating the value-based education and character-building learnings imparted by the school. We are happy our effort has resonated with many. We are also confident it will inspire current students to stay connected with the institution in the future,” said Jigen Sherdalal.

The lines “Ame namiye tane cheer saathi, saathi Vidyavihar” of Vidyahihar’s song penned by the school’s former principal and director Shri Zinabhai ‘Snehrashmi’ stir many feelings and emotions in the hearts of current and former students of CN Vidyavihar who are spread across the world and show their strong bond to the mother institution. Samarpan is being launched on CN Vidyavihar’s YouTube channel today (November 30).

Mumbai, Maharashtra, November 30: Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival executed the first of its ten planned CSR activities for the year. On Monday, the 28^th of November, DPIFF organised a Food Distribution Campaign at a BMC school where mid-day meals were distributed to 1000 underprivileged students.

The CSR activities of DPIFF have always endeavoured to give back to society in an attempt to combat global crises such as world hunger, sanitation as well as climate change. When it comes to the issue of starvation, there is no question about the fact that every human being deserves to be able to feed themselves in a dignified manner according to basic human rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Undoubtedly, poverty is one of the main reasons behind hunger, and it is a matter of economy that unfortunately cannot be reversed overnight.

Nevertheless, it is true that every effort counts. DPIFF has been marshalling the sustainability movement for years now, spearheading environmental and social campaigns with an arsenal of CSR activities that make real impacts each year. With the “We For World Foundation” registered under Niti Aayog, the team implemented a Food Distribution Campaign which provided mid-day to 1,000 students of the BMC school. For the purpose of food safety and hygiene, the food was arranged from ISKCON temple.

The Food Distribution Drive was conducted with the Support of DPIFF 2023’s Telecast Partner – Sony Tv and Streaming Partner – ZEE5. In association with MapmyIndia, Blue Star, Haldiram’s, Max Life Insurance and IIFL Finance. Tourism Partner: Madhya Pradesh Tourism, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, Punjab Tourism and Chhattisgarh Tourism. The Brand Representatives extended their warm support in the execution of Food Distribution Drive Initiative.

The event took place on Monday, the 28^th of November which was attended by Actress Manisha Koirala, Anil Mishra – MD of DPIFF, Abhishek Mishra – CEO of DPIFF, brand representatives from Amway, Prestige and Haldiram’s alongwith other dignitaries who wished to unite in order to strive towards a brighter future. Such initiatives by DPIFF in the past have never failed to leave their mark, and have been duly appreciated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji.

Every year, DPIFF organises events geared towards spreading awareness about environmental and social issues. The platform is notable in the world of cinema for carrying on the legacy of Shri Dadasaheb Phalke Ji, whose filmmaking was rooted in the traditions of unity, family, and harmony.  In the same way, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival also wishes to bring people together to create a better future for the planet which we all call home.
