  • Kadar Na Jaane by Ipsitaa: A Powerful Anthem for Self-Love and Empowerment in Indian Pop

Kadar Na Jaane by Ipsitaa: A Powerful Anthem for Self-Love and Empowerment in Indian Pop

New Delhi [India] September 11: Ipsitaa is a multi-talented artist renowned for her remarkable contributions to the world of music, as a trained singer, actress, and dancer. Ipsitaa’s journey to stardom commenced with her debut song, ‘FIRST KISS’, in collaboration with the celebrated artist Yo Yo Honey Singh. This sensational track has amassed 238 million views on YouTube and received 34 million streams on Spotify.

Ipsitaa’s musical prowess continued to flourish with the release of four independent songs, each a testament to her talent and artistry. Notably, her single – ‘SOLO LAILA’ with music by Tanishk Bagchi released on T-Series – has garnered widespread acclaim for its empowering message to women, boasting 20 million views on YouTube and 1.4 million streams on Spotify. Next, she was seen in her soul-stirring Punjabi ballad, ‘NIKAAH,’ written by Jaani and produced by Desi Music Factory, which resonated deeply with women around the world. Ipsitaa’s diverse portfolio also includes ‘DILBARA,’ produced by Jjust Music, and a captivating independent Christmas Album, ‘SONGS OF CHRISTMAS’ created in collaboration with Ranjit Barot. This album beautifully showcases her versatility, spanning a range of global genres, from opera to pop to gospel.

    BACKGROUND

Born in Chandigarh and raised in various cities around North India (due to her parents’ background in civil service), Ipsitaa showed an early inclination towards singing, acting, and dancing. She began cultivating her skills in pop and opera singing at the age of 12. A testament to her prodigy is the distinction she achieved in the Grade 8 Voice Exam (Vocals: Rock & Pop) conducted by Trinity College, London, where she emerged as the topper in North India. Her early successes extended to her role as the youngest member of the international choir, the Capital City Minstrels, and a position as the lead singer and soloist in her school, where she garnered numerous awards at the inter-school, state, and national levels. She also attained a senior diploma in Kathak at the age of 14. Notably, the performing arts were not her only pursuit. Ipsitaa’s academic brilliance afforded her acceptance offers from Ivy League colleges including Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and Cornell, as well as Stanford.

She chose to pursue her dream of attending Yale, where she double majored in Economics and Psychology, while also participating in 14 productions, ranging from operas and musicals to postgraduate-level plays at the Yale School of Drama (for which she was selected via competitive auditions as one of the only undergraduate performers). She founded Yale’s first Indian Classical dance group and took the role of the lead Kathak dancer. Ipsitaa’s academic passion for Behavioral Economics led her to pursue higher education. She received an MSc in Behavioral Science from the London School of Economics, where her thesis titled ‘Does Engaging in Arts Improve Life Satisfaction?’ demonstrated her commitment to both academics and the arts. But it was only after her fortuitous discovery by Yo Yo Honey Singh’s team, through her covers and mashups online, that Ipsitaa realised her true calling in music.

Ipsitaa’s artistic endeavours are not solely a reflection of her remarkable talent but also a manifestation of her commitment to addressing significant societal issues. Her body of work beautifully articulates the struggles and aspirations of women, exploring themes such as the sacrifices imposed by culture and religion, the importance of nurturing dreams without constraints, and the imperative nature of questioning societal expectations. Ipsitaa’s powerful voice serves as an instrument for change, and her passion for addressing women’s issues has garnered her a dedicated following. She aspires to blend her Western music training with her Indian heritage to craft songs that resonate deeply with the modern Indian woman.

As Ipsitaa embarks on her journey as a professional artist, she envisions a future filled with music that empowers, inspires, and brings forth the voices of countless women who have remained voiceless in their aspirations and desires. With her unique blend of talent, Ipsitaa is poised to become India’s first ‘triple threat’ talent, following in the footsteps of her idols in the West who have proven through their determination that girls, can indeed, do it all.

    ABOUT THE SONG

“Kadar Na Jaane” is a new age pop song by Ipsitaa that speaks directly to girls, encouraging them to focus on themselves and their own well-being instead of investing in relationships with boys who fail to appreciate their worth. The lyrics vividly depict the common scenario of a girl being wooed by someone who may not have sincere intentions, highlighting the importance of recognising one’s value and not settling for less. The song paints a picture of a girl being pursued by someone who may not truly care for her. Despite the promises and declarations of love, the girl is urged to see through the facade and realise her own worth.

“Kadar Na Jaane” serves as a powerful anthem for self-love and empowerment. It encourages girls and women to prioritise honesty, self-respect, and integrity in relationships, and to walk away from those who do not value them.

“Kadar Na Jaane” is more than just a song; it’s a powerful reminder for girls to focus on themselves, embrace their worth, and not settle for anything less than genuine love and respect.

    STORYLINE

The video is a full-out performance music video using colourful sets, new age, K-pop inspired visuals and dance choreography. It’s a video that no other Indian artist has done before. It’s going to set a new benchmark for Indian pop music. More than 90% of the video has been created using VFX by the talented team at Famous Studios, Mumbai.

  • Aho Vikramaarka A Riveting Showcase of Dev Gill’s Star power in a High-Octane Action Drama.

Aho Vikramaarka A Riveting Showcase of Dev Gill’s Star power in a High-Octane Action Drama.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 2: In the crowded realm of action dramas, Aho Vikramaarka emerges as a standout spectacle, largely driven by the magnetic presence of its lead star, Dev Gill. Directed by Peta Trikoti, the film is a high-octane blend of riveting action and emotional stakes, anchored by Gill’s commanding performance that elevates the narrative beyond its conventional framework.

Aho Vikramaarka follows the story of Vikramaarka (Dev Gill), a corrupt cop whose life takes a dramatic turn when his girlfriend (Chitra Shukla) is kidnapped by a notorious villain portrayed by Pravin Tarde. As Vikramaarka delves into the villain’s lair to rescue his beloved, he uncovers shocking truths about his past and family. The film explores his journey from a morally ambiguous cop to a determined avenger fighting to save his loved ones and redeem himself.

Dev Gill’s portrayal of Vikramaarka is nothing short of a tour de force. Known for his roles in Telugu cinema, including the acclaimed Magadheera, Gill takes center stage with a performance that is both physically commanding and emotionally resonant. His transformation from a corrupt cop to a hero with a cause is compelling, and his commitment to the role is evident in every scene. Gill’s action sequences are exhilarating, showcasing his physical prowess and choreographic skill. Yet, it is his ability to convey the internal struggle and redemption arc of Vikramaarka that truly stands out, adding depth to the character and elevating the film’s emotional core.

Peta Trikoti, a protégé of the esteemed S. S. Rajamouli, makes an impressive directorial debut with Aho Vikramaarka. The film is visually striking, with Trikoti’s direction ensuring that each action sequence is meticulously crafted and visually stunning. The screenplay, while following familiar tropes of the action genre, is imbued with enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. The film’s pacing is brisk, with the first half effectively setting up the narrative and the stakes. The second half, though occasionally melodramatic, maintains a high level of suspense and drama, particularly in the well-executed climax.

The supporting cast, while strong, often finds themselves overshadowed by Gill’s dominant presence. Chitra Shukla delivers a heartfelt performance as Vikramaarka’s girlfriend, bringing a necessary emotional depth to the film. Pravin Tarde’s portrayal of the antagonist is formidable, though occasionally veering into over-the-top territory. Tejaswini Pandit and other cast members contribute solid performances, adding to the film’s overall impact.

The technical crew excels in bringing Aho Vikramaarka to life. Ravi Basrur’s musical score complements the film’s energetic pace, enhancing the dramatic and action sequences with a powerful soundtrack. Cinematographers Karam Chawla and Guru Prasad N capture the action with finesse, creating visually arresting sequences that are both dynamic and immersive. The film’s production values are top-notch, with attention to detail evident in the sets, costumes, and overall aesthetic.

Aho Vikramaarka is a testament to Dev Gill’s star power and versatility, showcasing him in a role that demands both physical and emotional depth. The film successfully combines thrilling action with a compelling personal journey, making it a standout entry in the action drama genre. While it occasionally dips into melodrama, the film’s strengths—particularly Gill’s riveting performance—ensure it remains an engaging and entertaining watch.

  • Ravi Gautam’s Soch: A Perception to Premiere at India International Film Festival of Boston and Chicago South Asian Film Festival

Ravi Gautam’s Soch: A Perception to Premiere at India International Film Festival of Boston and Chicago South Asian Film Festival

New Delhi [India], September 2: Indo-German director Ravi Gautam’s latest film, Soch: A Perception, is set to make its premiere at the India International Film Festival of Boston (IIFFB) and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF). Produced by Jennifer Pengel, Rahul Sharma, and Anjali Patil, this compelling film takes a critical look at the societal challenges and gender biases that persist in contemporary Indian society. With a narrative that confronts the deep-seated double standards faced by women, Soch: A Perception is poised to resonate with audiences both in India and abroad.

Adding to its international acclaim, Soch: A Perception has been officially selected for the prestigious Chicago South Asian Film Festival, where it will have its Chicago area premiere. This dual recognition underscores the film’s powerful message and its relevance across different cultural contexts.

Soch: A Perception transcends traditional storytelling by examining the gendered dynamics that govern everyday life in India. Drawing from his own experiences, director Ravi Gautam highlights the glaring discrepancies in societal expectations between men and women. He recalls, “As a boy, I was never questioned about being out late, but my sisters were. There’s a double-sided reality at play. On one hand, the fear isn’t baseless, but on the other, men are conditioned to view a woman out late as ‘not a good woman.’” This introspection forms the backbone of the film, which not only critiques but also encourages dialogue on these entrenched societal norms.

Anjali Patil leads the cast as Officer Priyanka Negi, a character nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Female) at IIFFB. Patil’s portrayal of Officer Negi, who grapples with societal pressures while investigating a rural village disappearance, is both compelling and powerful. The ensemble cast, featuring Mukti Ravi Das, Silpi Dutta, Muzamil Bhawani, Bashir Yasir Bhavani, Ritika Sharma, Gauri Webster, and Dayal Prasad, enriches the film’s narrative, offering a diverse perspective on the challenges facing women in India.

Beyond its exploration of gender dynamics, Soch: A Perception addresses how major societal issues are often overshadowed by communal tensions, urging viewers to reconsider the distractions that prevent meaningful progress. By spotlighting these challenges, Ravi Gautam’s film invites audiences to critically evaluate the societal norms that perpetuate inequality and division.

Ravi Gautam, a German director of Indian origin, continues to establish himself as a formidable voice in cinema, known for his nuanced and insightful storytelling. Following the premiere of Soch: A Perception, Gautam is set to work on his next project, A Million Yard Stare. This international film, centered on the experiences of children affected by war and set against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, will be presented in English, German, and Ukrainian. It reflects Gautam’s ongoing commitment to addressing complex global issues through the lens of film.

As Soch: A Perception prepares for its debut at the India International Film Festival of Boston and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, it represents not just a film premiere but a call to action. Ravi Gautam’s latest work stands as a powerful reminder of the impact of cinema in challenging societal norms and fostering meaningful dialogue.
