Unlocking the Future of Cancer Care: The Role of NGS and Molecular Biology

New Delhi [India], May 14: Cancer care has changed dramatically over the last decade. As opposed to a “one-size-fits-all” approach, treatment today is at an exciting crossroads: precision oncology – therapy directed at the genetic profile of the tumor unique to each patient. We now attribute this change to two scientific developments: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and molecular biology.

As a medical oncologist with more than 15 years of clinical and academic experience, I have witnessed this shift in practice. These technologies are not only allowing us to understand cancer better, they are also changing how we diagnose, treat, and monitor cancer.

Next-Generation Sequencing: Mapping the Cancer Genome

NGS is a new technology that allows for very fast and comprehensive analysis of a cancer’s DNA. NGS recognizes genetic mutations (also recognized as “driver mutations”) that fuel tumor growth. More importantly, NGS reveals actionable mutations which can be targeted by specific drugs that often have better outcomes and fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy.

For example, mutations in specific genes such as EGFR, BRAF, and ALK can be targeted by new oral therapies in lung, melanoma, and other cancers. NGS will support liquid biopsies that allow tumor DNA circulating in blood to be analyzed—providing a non-invasive way to monitor cancer in real time.

Additionally, NGS is crucial in predicting patients who may benefit from immunotherapy by determining markers like Tumor Mutational Burden (TMB), and Microsatellite Instability (MSI). These changes in assessment methodologies are redefining treatment paradigms, providing patients with hope where there was limited option previously.

Molecular Biology: Entering the “Why” of Mutation

While NGS indicates what mutations are present, molecular biology explains how these mutations affect the cancer cell. It examines the mechanisms of cancer growth, how cancer cells avoid treatments, and the pathways of potentially restoring harmony.

This more complete understanding has led to disruptive changes:

    •              Targeted therapies, such as EGFR inhibitors for lung cancer or BRAF targeted therapies for melanoma.
    •              Companion diagnostics, such as HER2 testing for breast cancer or the PD-L1 expression tests for lung cancer, now accepted standards before starting treatment.
    •              Hereditary gene-editing like CRISPR, which may one day repair or silence cancer-causing mutations.

Molecular biology is the link between the discovery in the lab and what is done for the patient.

Bringing Genomics to the Masses: Obstacles in India

Despite the promise, many obstacles still exist, especially in a resource-limited setting like India:

    •              High costs of genomic testing for patients.
    •              NEED TO PRECISELY DESCRIBE the extent of access to NGS platforms in standard across regional hospitals and other smaller towns etc.
    •              Lack of genomic training of oncologists and pathologists has limited the ability of people to use it broadly clinically.
    •              Utilizing genomic data involves bio-informatic analysis, which remains a relatively new skill set in Indian health care.

So where so we begin? In India, we must focus on affordable, local data generation, and educating health care professionals. There are several roles for the Government and private sector in ensuring these new technologies are not limited to a few elite centers in the country.

A Call to Action: Toward Standardization of Precision Medicine

NGS and molecular biology are no longer the future, they are here. With the increasing cases and complexity of cancer, our approach should also evolve. By accepting these technologies, we can transition to a healthcare system that does not treat cancer based on location or size, but based on what it actually is–the biology of the tumor itself.

Precision oncology aims to provide better outcomes, fewer side effects, and real hope. However, we can only realize this potential if we standardize it and make it equitable. It must not only be accessible and affordable, but we must integrate Precision Medicine into standard care practices. Specifically, we must make it the standard of care across India, not just metro hospitals.

  • Hollywood Director Bronwen Hughes of ‘Breaking Bad’ Fame Lands in Mumbai for Untitled Indo-Global Rom-Com

Hollywood Director Bronwen Hughes of ‘Breaking Bad’ Fame Lands in Mumbai for Untitled Indo-Global Rom-Com

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 14: Acclaimed Hollywood director Bronwen Hughes, known for her work on hit series like Breaking Bad, The Good Doctor, and 13 Reasons Why, as well as films starring Sandra Bullock and Hilary Swank, has arrived in Mumbai on May 12th midnight for her upcoming untitled romantic comedy centred around Indian culture and wedding celebrations worldwide.

The film, produced by Val Hill (Blade Runner 2049, 12 Strong), explores the vibrant traditions of Indian weddings through a global lens. Hughes is in India to finalize the Indian cast and crew and conduct initial location scouting across the country. The project is set to begin filming by the end of 2025, aiming to capture the grandeur and emotional richness of Indian festivities.

This exciting collaboration comes on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Global Collaborations” at the recent Waves event, where he encouraged Indian filmmakers to partner with international talent. The film aligns perfectly with this vision, blending Hollywood storytelling with India’s cultural splendour.

Shivam Aggarwal, the Indian producer behind multiple global projects, is driving this cross-cultural venture. He stated, “This film is a celebration of India’s wedding traditions on a global stage. With Bronwen’s expertise and Val’s production brilliance, we’re creating something truly magical.”

Preeti Singh, director of last year’s release Aliya Basu Gayab Hai, is also attached to the project. The team believes that the world’s growing fascination with Indian weddings—sparked by events like Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s fairy-tale celebration—makes this the perfect moment for such a film.

  • Sarees in Motion: RURIethnic’s Heritage Walk Revives Pune’s Saree Culture

Sarees in Motion: RURIethnic’s Heritage Walk Revives Pune’s Saree Culture

New Delhi [India], May 14: In an age of fast fashion and fleeting trends, a quiet revolution unfolded in the historic lanes of Pune—draped not in denim, but in sarees. On Mother’s Day, RURIethnic Sarees, a handloom saree brand based in Aundh, hosted its first-ever Heritage Walk: a curated experience that brought together Pune’s history and the lived beauty of the saree.

The walk began at Mandai Police Chowki at 7:45 AM and led the saree lovers on a three-hour trail filled with stories, architecture, and meaningful connection. But this wasn’t a tourist stroll. It was a community-led celebration of womanhood, tradition, and the saree as something more than festive wear, a garment lived in every day.

“The saree has always moved with us from kitchens to boardrooms, from rituals to revolutions,” said Shilpi Deshpande, founder of RURIethnic.

“This walk was our tribute to that journey. Seeing women walk through old Pune draped in their own stories, it felt like the beginning of something meaningful.”

Everyone came draped in sarees they loved. Many chose soft cottons to embrace the summer morning. Some came with friends; others came solo. But what united them was their shared love for sarees and heritage. Laughter, quiet moments, and stories were exchanged as easily as steps.

The emphasis was on ease, inclusivity, and real connections, a reflection of what RURIethnic has always stood for.

    Sarees

RURIethnic has become a space for saree lovers who see their drapes as more than attire. Known for its thoughtfully curated collections and storytelling-first approach, the brand is steadily building a community around the saree, what they lovingly call the RURISitara circle.

The walk falling on Mother’s Day added a gentle layer of meaning, a tribute to the many roles women carry, often wrapped in six yards of memory and resilience.

This walk was more than a brand activity. It was the start of a larger vision: a series of culture- rooted experiences that bring women together through Indian textiles, shared traditions, and stories waiting to be told. This event is just the beginning. RURIethnic plans to host more such experiences across the city, blending heritage, sarees, and storytelling. The goal is to make sarees more visible, more accessible, and more loved, one lived-in experience at a time.

Visit RURIethnic today and explore Pune’s most beloved saree destination, where tradition meets contemporary elegance, and every saree becomes a treasured part of your story. • DPL 2025: Where Real Estate Plays Together; A Festival of Unity, Sportsmanship & Community

DPL 2025: Where Real Estate Plays Together; A Festival of Unity, Sportsmanship & Community

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], May 13: In an industry often defined by deadlines, deal-making, and bottom lines, something extraordinary happened this May. Cricket, a game that lives in the hearts of millions, became the common ground for an entire sector to reconnect, recharge, and rejoice.

Welcome to the Developer Premier League (DPL) 2025, an annual sporting tradition founded and hosted by Innovest Hospitality Management Services (IHMS) that is fast becoming the beating heart of India’s real estate community.

This year’s edition, held in the buzzing corridors of Gurugram NCR, saw spirited participation from marquee names in Indian real estate like ATS HomeKraft, BPTP, Krisumi Corporation, M3M India, Omaxe, and Reliance MET City. But beyond the logos and rivalries, what stood out was a shared celebration of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

“DPL is not about projects and launches. It’s about people, stepping away from boardrooms and construction sites to come together on the cricket field,” said Somya Singhal, Founder & CEO of IHMS. “It’s a celebration of relationships, unity, and shared energy.”

    Turning Competitive Rivalry Into Friendship

Real estate, by nature, is competitive. Yet for one sun-drenched weekend, it wasn’t about who sold the most or built the tallest, it was about who cheered the loudest, played the hardest, and connected the deepest.

The DPL grounds echoed with laughter, team chants, high-fives, and the rhythmic clapping of proud families and enthusiastic colleagues. While the matches were fierce and the stakes were high, the real win was the sense of belonging DPL created.

    Cricket: The Great Indian Equalizer

Cricket, more than just a sport in India, is a language of its own. One that unites across roles, ranks, and reputations. At DPL, it served as the cultural glue, binding together the vast and varied fabric of the real estate industry.

Whether it was a seasoned builder hitting boundaries or a young executive diving for a catch, every moment on the pitch reinforced the spirit of equality and togetherness.

The Matches That Made the Magic

Six power-packed teams. One electric venue. A series of thrilling encounters.

    Semifinal Showdowns:

    • M3M India vs Omaxe
    • ATS HomeKraft vs Reliance MET City

    The Grand Finale:

    • ATS HomeKraft vs M3M India

In a nail-biting final match, ATS HomeKraft emerged victorious, lifting the DPL 2025 trophy amid deafening applause and jubilant celebrations. But beyond the scorecards, every team walked away with something more valuable: friendships, memories, and a renewed sense of community.

    The Vision Behind DPL

For IHMS, a brand that curates hospitality experiences across hotels, resorts, vacation homes, and clubs, the goal of DPL is clear: to build communities that thrive not just on business but on bonding.

“DPL is our way of celebrating the people behind the buildings, the hearts behind the hustle,” the IHMS team shared. “When real estate developers come together not to compete, but to connect, magic happens.”

Powered by Partners, Backed by Belief

An event of this scale comes alive only through shared commitment. DPL 2025 was proudly co-powered by Innovest (India’s leading second-home developer) and Abante (a trusted name in facility management). Their support laid the foundation for a seamless, high-energy celebration.

    Associate Partners included:
Dr. Lal Path Labs, Lusso Hospitality, YOHO, IREED, ElavoCare, Medanta, Beliram Exclusives, Adi Advisors, Optik Club, Denzour, Nikon, Bonjour, and Rize.

Together, these partners ensured that every facet of DPL; from wellness to food, technology to fashion, reflected excellence and joy.

What’s Next? DPL Goes National, Finale in Dubai

With NCR lit up by the tournament’s success, DPL is now going national. Upcoming editions will be hosted in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad, with winning teams from each city converging for a Grand Finale in Dubai, taking this community-first initiative global.

    More Than a League, It’s a Legacy

DPL 2025 proved what few initiatives in real estate have: that the industry is stronger when it comes together. It’s not just about land and buildings—it’s about people, purpose, and the power of play.

In the end, DPL isn’t just a cricket league. It’s a movement, where developers become teammates, where competition turns into connection, and where community takes centre stage.

As the sun set on DPL 2025, one thing was clear: real estate just found its new favourite ritual.

  • CBSE Results 2025: PM Modi Wishes Students, Shares Message of Hope and Determination

CBSE Results 2025: PM Modi Wishes Students, Shares Message of Hope and Determination

New Delhi [India], May 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the students (CBSE Results 2025) on May 13, 2025, who had cleared the CBSE Class 10 and 12 examinations with success, wishing them all the best for their hard work, commitment, and determination. His words, shared through social media along with being officially announced by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), have echoed across the country, inspiring not only the performers but also those who may be discouraged by their performance.

The Prime Minister’s sentiments were inclusive, unbiased, and respectful of values greater than school marks. Courage, humility, self-confidence, and the virtue of perseverance.

“Today is the result of your hard work, discipline and determination. Today is also the day to celebrate the parents, teachers and all the others who helped to make this achievement possible,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CBSE Results 2025 PM Modi: Expressing gratitude towards the whole success ecosystem

The CBSE result is a landmark for lakhs of Indian students. But the Prime Minister was not keen to highlight mere individual success, but also appreciate support structures which have made this success possible. Teachers, parents, guides, and schools are all components towards mentoring a student towards his future, and PM Modi went out of his way to thank them.

This aligns with the government’s consistent messaging around holistic education, one that goes beyond textbooks and results, nurturing emotional intelligence, values, and lifelong learning.

    “One Exam Never Defines You”

For students who did not meet their own expectations, PM Modi’s message was one of reassurance and empowerment.

“To everyone who feels a bit dejected with their scores, I want to say to you: one exam does not define you. Your journey is much greater and your strengths are far beyond the mark sheet. Remain confident, remain curious because magnificent things are in store,” he said.

This vision is an echo of a broader cultural transition towards student mental well-being and resilience. In tackling the very issues of young students, PM Modi reasserted the government’s commitment to minimising the learning burden and making education a more balanced experience.

A Culture of Discipline, Trust, and Positivity

The CBSE Results 2025 PM Modi message imposes some elementary assumptions which have at their core been the substance of the Prime Minister’s message to children: modesty, dedication, discipline, and positivity. These, he has still suggested, are the virtues that result in successful people, of course not just high-marks or designation-holders.

For years now, Prime Minister Modi has been championing programs like #ExamWarriors, which attempt to get students involved in steps that will reduce stress levels, instill confidence within themselves, and streamline their learning paths. His address this year is also a continuation of the same pattern, offering advice after the completion of an important academic milestone.

    National Response and Educational Outlook

Teachers and commentators on policy have embraced the Prime Minister’s message for its humane tone and long-term vision. In a schooling environment increasingly characterized by digital tools, shifting curricula, and vocational ambiguity, his call to “stay curious” speaks to the lifelong learning culture the 21st century demands.

As India continues to reimagine the education system of its nation based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these messages also become symbolic and strategic.

These messages attempt to motivate students as well as institutions to look beyond marks and continue to be concerned with reality-based readiness.

    Final Thought

In a high-stakes education society, in which results are sure to be thought of in absolute terms, the CBSE Results 2025 PM Modi quote cuts above the noise with a touch of hope and advice. It reminds us, thankfully, that although the exam itself is significant, it is but one step towards an infinitely lengthy process, a process defined by inquisitiveness, by persistence, and by character.
