California [USA], October 13: Punjabi folk song ‘Bajre Da Sitta’ has got a peppy international avatar that is sure to leave listeners foot tapping. US-based music curator Janapriyan Levine has given a new twist to the traditional song to come up with a perfect blend of Indian-western fusion music and with gifted singer Meenal Jain’s voice the proverbial cherry on the cake.

“I fell in love with the song ‘Bajre Da Sitta’ the very first time I heard it, even without understanding the lyrics. I could listen to other people’s renditions of it, but I was more curious to see how I could come up with something different and unique that would appeal to listeners across geographies,” says Janapriyan, who is based out of California.

The young musical genius is all praise for Meenal, whom he describes as the obvious choice for the song.

“Meenal has a rich, warm tone. Her voice can be playful and sad. The culture and richness of the folk song reflect in her vocals, and it made it a great place to start when we decided to collaborate. For me, the challenge while working with Meenal was how I could complement or contrast her voice,” he says.

“Bajre Da Sitta” is the result of an international collaboration that took place during the pandemic. While Janapriyan created the music in his studio in California and is seen playing different musical instruments in the song, Meenal recorded the song in India and is seen performing on the TV screen in the video.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Janapriyan has created a niche for himself, especially with his efforts for creating a unique form of music where East meets West. Since 2001, when he recorded his first solo album in Ahmedabad, the music composer has collaborated with some of the most famous artists in India. Janapriyan has collaborated with Shweta Subram, Varijashree Venugopal, Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan, Veena maestro Rajesh Vaidya, playback singer Suvarna Tiwari, and many more.

His extensive list of collaborators includes Grammy award-winning songwriters and many of South Asia’s premier vocalists.

Janapriyan has decided to expand his collaboration with Indian artists further and starting from this month, he has decided to release one music video every month with a different singer on his website music.janapriyan.com besides his YouTube and other social media channels.

He is also credited with contributing to creating the Facebook Sound Collection, a warehouse of original music that was single-handedly written or curated by him.

The season of monsoon has come up with many mesmerizing tracks already and has even made people fall in love with them instantly. Another song that may be added soon to the list is “Halvese”. This brand-new track is the product of the ace team under producers and brothers Shrinivas Kulkarni and Madhusudan Kulkarni. These two have always stunned audiences with whatever they have created in the music scene so far, and now again, they are planning to come up with this song named Halvese to be released on 18th October 2021, which oozes freshness and a new oomph with fascinating chemistry between the leads.

Akshay Waghmare, after doing many films, is excited about being the lead in the romantic track, while the actress is a newcomer named Saniya Nikam, who is debuting with this song. Picturized in the picturesque Mulshi, Kasat Wada, near Pune, the song is sure to take audiences on a journey with the sweet love story that director Yogesh Anil Tawar has beautifully captured.

The casting of Saniya Nikam, who is debuting with Halvese, is in itself an interesting story. This beautiful girl had made a reel on Shrinivas Kulkarni’s first song, “Mann He Vede”. The team loved this reel, and they contacted her to act in their upcoming song Halvese. This is how she landed with her acting debut in the music world.

Saniya Nikam, on getting this opportunity, says that she can’t be grateful enough to the team for selecting her as the female lead. Though she was a bit scared at first to act in front of Akshay Waghmare, her confidence still was intact in front of the camera, thanks to her experiences in making reels. She credits the team for creating a healthy environment and making everything comfortable for her.

Halvese has music by Swapnil Sawant, lyrics by Akshay Sant, Devashree Athalye, Jeevan Marathe and vocals by Jeevan Marathe and Nikita Purandare. The DOP of the song is Rahul R Zende. The project head is Vaibhav S Lamture, while Amole Ghodke is the executive producer. Choreography by Sahil Shaha and costumes by Swapna Raut have made the leads look beautiful. The creative team at Ninaad Films, Pune, have put up a great show in the arresting beauty of Mulshi.

The Sci-Fi is written by Ajit Jagtap, Bollywood’s promising new voice in Thriller and Sci-fi genre, and directed by Saugat Bhattacharya, a filmmaker who has created a niche in short formats has shifted orbits to direct long formats. Now, when he teams up with a strong cast like Brijendra Kala, Reecha Sinha, Vaishnavi Macdonald, and himself, something splendid is going to happen in the OTT world.

Producer Irfan Izhar had already earned big laurel for his internationally acclaimed documentary, A Journey of Thousand Miles – Peacekeepers, which also bagged the Best Documentary Award at Atlanta Film Festival and Best Humanitarian Award at River Run Film Festival, is embarking on Bollywood with The Last Resort.

While shedding light on his first movie in India, Irfan said, “The Last Resort is an experience of ensuring big-budget entertainment to the audience with a small budget movie. We focused on content quality rather than content appeal that usually relies on exorbitant cast and locations. As per my exposure to international cinema, if the content has quality, it will evidently attract the audience irrespective of the budget of the movie.”

The Last Resort is due for release this year, date to be announced soon.

New York (USA), October 12: The first short film Soulmates helmed by young filmmaker Manya Gadhok based in New York has received recognition and awards from numerous international film festivals. The film features Shruti Bapna and Jatin Sarna.

Soulmates, is a short narrative fiction film that centres around the relationship of Reyansh and Anaisha, a newly married couple who suddenly find themselves at crossroads on a chilly winter night. What happened to them? Where did their love go?  Did the rigid patriarchal value embedded in their families make their love disappear? The short film is a dark twisted thriller where a quarrel turns into a nightmare.

Filmmaker Manya Gadhok shares, “Films are the most powerful tools of expressing one’s reality to the world, aiding to change the perspective of the audience by providing them an alternative lens to how they view their ‘reality’.”

“Being a filmmaker I have learned that every work you produce is a reflection of ‘you’. That is the sole reason as to why I enjoying making films over just watching films as I want my work to have an impact and make this world a better place to live,” she adds.

Actor Jatin Sarna shares, “t was really fantastic working with Manya, she is young and her choice of subject was very sensitive. I feel this subject needs to be addressed to the society and our film will surely contribute to the society. I wish Manya good luck.”

Every composer was curating multiple hits, with signature styles and tunes setting them apart from each other. Their unique aesthetics allowed them to survive long and loved in public memory, without any publicity gimmicks.

Evolution is the key to survival in the creative industry, which was a truth I realised soon enough. Changing the times and responding to the listeners’ tastes is the only way to keep afloat in such a volatile environment.

However, I have always placed my trust in intimate, piercing melodies with soulful lyrics, which makes a place in the hearts of audiences effortlessly, and memorably.

My compositions Koi Fariyad and Tum Bin Jiya Jai Kaise stand testimony to the ethics of my composition and have paved the path of my legacy, which has led to my ‘Zaahir Kar Do Na’.

These teenagers have become the youngest organizers of a fashion and reality show ‘Hum Hain Gully Guys, Boys and Girls’ to be held in Mumbai in the first week of November.

While it takes guts and hard work to organize a fashion show, Shams Rathod and Jayant Bagda are determined enough, and that they have started preparing for the unique show, which is open for all.

The concept of this unique show was created by both of them when they attended a fashion show in Goa. When both the children shared about their intent to do this show in front of their parents, then the parents also stood in their support, proud of their children.

The fashion and reality event known as ‘Talent Hunt India-2021’ has free registrations. There is no age limit to participate, no takes re-takes or auditions. The unique show will have the attraction of ramp walking, reality show, choreography, photoshoot, makeover, and grooming of the contestants.

Shams Rathod said, “The fashion show will continue for three days. The artists can register and take advantage of free registration. We are not charging a single penny for the registration, and there will be no auditions. The event will take place in a big resort or a five-star hotel in Mumbai.”
