“Pure Vivaah” -2024 was organized by Sri Ramkrishna Export Family at Gopin Gam

Surat (Gujarat) [India], March 1: SRK Knowledge Foundation (SRKKF), the philanthropic arm of Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), led by Shri Govindbhai Dholakia, Chairman of the company and Rajya Sabha MP, organized a Ramayan themed mass marriage in Surat today to commemorate the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav of Shri Ram Mandir. Total 84 couples got married under the theme “Pure Vivaah” organized at Gopin gam of Abrama.

The special attraction of this wedding celebration was that the groom and others were dressed up as Lord Ram and Mother Sita, and the events of Ramayana were brought to life at the venue. To spread the message of saving daughter, donating organs, and saving money, a procession of Ram Lalla was also taken out in the campus, in which the senior citizens of Surat participated enthusiastically.

On this occasion Shri Govindbhai Dholakia said that after 500 years of struggle, we got our Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya Dham.This unique occasion began with the arrival of the groom (baraat) at 4 pm and concluded with the departure of the bride (kanya vidai) at 9 pm. In this Ramayana themed celebration, various events of the Ramayan, like 14 years of exile (Vanvaas), meeting with Shabri (Shabari Milan) were brought to life. Not only this, the couples also took ‘feras’ donning the attire of Lord Ram and Mother Sita. A total of 84 couples started their married life.

Minister of State for Railways, Smt. Darshanaben Jardosh inaugurated the event. Also, Minister of State for Home, Shri Harshbhai Sanghvi, Minister Shri Mukeshbhai Patel, Minister Shri Prafulbhai Pansheriya, Mayor of Surat, Shri Daksheshbhai Mavani along with all the MLAs of Surat graced the occassion. Moreover, Surat District Collector Dr. Saurabh Parghi, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Shalini Agarwal and Police Commissioner in-charge of Surat city Mr. Wabang Jamir were present.

So far, more than 813 couples have got married in this “Pure Vivaah” organized by SRKKF since 2015.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 01:  As India commemorated National Science Day on February 28, 2024, PEHEL Foundation, in collaboration with the implementation partner BharatCares, celebrated the occasion with a special initiative: the ‘STEM on Wheels’ project.

The ‘STEM on Wheels’ project, which has been active in the Kalol and Sanand blocks of Ahmedabad for the entire academic year, aims to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education among school students. On National Science Day, 20 schools from these blocks participated in the ‘STEM on Wheels Science Day Exhibition, with over 4,100 Government Primary School students taking part.

During the exhibition, three to five students from each of the 20 schools showcased their STEM-based experiments. These experiments were based on real-life applications of STEM concepts, which the students learned during their regular interactive STEM sessions with the ‘STEM on Wheels’ project throughout the academic year.

In total, 48 different STEM models were created by the students. These models covered various topics, including rainwater harvesting, Newton’s disk, magnetic swing, and dams. The exhibition provided an opportunity for students in grades 6 to 8 to deepen their understanding of STEM learning and cultivate a passion for science and technology.

The Pehel Foundation, with the support of BharatCares, organized these exhibitions to inspire young minds and ignite their curiosity about science and technology. These efforts aim to shape the future generation of scientists and innovators in India.

New Delhi (India), February 27: A conference of senior diplomats on contemporary geopolitics called for the Global North and South to set aside differences and come together to address critical issues facing the world — from climate change to economic inequity to conflict.

The diplomats were speaking at a conference on ‘Shaping a Global South in Harmony with the North’, organised by Global Dialogue Alliance in New Delhi.

Ambassador Dr Kanwal Sibal, former Foreign Secretary of India and current Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) pointed out the consequences of the ongoing seismic shifts in global power dynamics and China’s role in it.

“The rise of China has been nothing short of phenomenal,” he said.

Commenting on India’s productive engagement with nations of the South, he said, “Whether it is through tariff concessions to the least developed countries or summits with small island states, India has demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships within the Global South.”

“India has also made significant strides, asserting its presence with a greater degree of persuasion and acceptance as India prefers a non-confrontational mode of engagement,” he asserted.

Ambassador Sibal also highlighted the security implications of NATO’s expansion.

“There is an urgent need for global unity, yet in the current circumstances, I believe the primary responsibility lies with the North. Despite ample diplomatic experience, they persist in making geopolitical errors, further fragmenting the world,” he added.

The conference, built around the 10th anniversary celebration of the foreign policy journal Global Dialogue Review, delved into aspects of cooperation within the South and the imperative to engage with nations of the North. 

Mr. Moses Manoharan, Chairman of the Global Dialogue Alliance, in his remarks said the Alliance, comprising Global Dialogue Review, Global Dialogue Forum, and Global Dialogue TV, aimed at making a meaningful impact on the world stage at a time when there was a critical need for independent voices.

However, significant challenges arise in achieving harmony with the North, with the most prominent being the North-South divide on climate change and environmental issues, he added. 

Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, pointed out his nation’s progress from being one of the least developed in the world to becoming a developing nation by 2026. But added that along with other nations of the South, they faced challenges in pursuing development. 

“There is a greater need for cooperation and unity among Global South nations, particularly in ensuring food security”, he added. 

Speaking on the role of Global South in reshaping the global order, Mr. Cedric Crowley, acting High Commissioner of South Africa said South Africa and other BRICS nations were pivotal players in shaping the global order and international development agenda.

“Despite facing immense inequality domestically, we stand together as nations committed to sustainable development and inclusive growth,” he added.

Dr. Kavita Sharma, former President of South Asian University, emphasised the importance of education in promoting regional harmony within the Global South. “Conflict cannot be resolved by more conflict,” she pointed out. 

Ambassador A.R. Ghanashyam, former High Commissioner of Nigeria highlighted the persistent imbalance in the distribution of wealth among nations worldwide.

“It’s still the prosperous countries of the North that continue to occupy the maximum share of wealth, despite the projection that 80 per cent of the world’s population will reside in Asia and Africa in the coming future,” he added.

Hazira (Surat) [India], February 27:  The fire and safety team of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) rescued the driver of a dumper truck after the vehicle’s cabin got mangled in a road accident.

The fire control room of AM/NS India, Hazira received a call in the early hours of Saturday from the plant’s security control room informing about a collision involving a coal-loaded truck dumper bearing registration number GJ16AV8885, and a parked dumper (GJ21W4399) near Surat-Hazira bypass road near Hazira village approach road.

Upon arrival at the scene, the fire team assessed the situation and realised that the truck driver, later identified as Prakash Saha, was trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle cabin. The team, along with the fire crews from SMC and GAIL, used portable cutters to cut through a portion of the cabin and rescued Saha from the vehicle. Saha, who was conscious throughout the rescue operation, suffered injuries on his leg and thigh. He was handed over to a team of 108 ambulance.

Dr. Anil Matoo, Head – Human Resource Operations, IR, and Administration, AM/NS India, commended the fire team for the swift response to the emergency and for saving the truck driver’s life.

“The team’s prompt response to the incident demonstrates our commitment to upholding the highest safety standards within its plant and outside,” he said.

The AM/NS India’s fire team comprised N.S.Dhoot, Ranjit Bamaniya, Hardik Patel, Milan Patel, Ayush Kumar, and Rees Thakor.
