Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 18: The educational landscape in Indore is witnessing a crucial shift as experts highlight the invisible hurdles of neurodiversity. Many parents face the confusing reality of a child who is sharp in conversation but falters significantly in academics.
Understanding that these gaps are often rooted in specific neurological patterns rather than a lack of effort is the first step toward unlocking a student’s true potential and ensuring long-term emotional well-being.
(Dyslexia aur Learning Difficulties ko Samjhein — Dr. Vini Jhariya ki Nazar Se)
Clinic mein roz kuch aisa sunne ko milta hai:
“Ma’am, sab kuch samajhta hai — par reading aur writing mein bahut problem hai.”
“Homework ke time ro deta hai, school se complaints aati hain.”
“School jaane se pehle pet dard, sar dard shuru ho jata hai — par saare medical tests bilkul normal hain.”
Chahe baccha 1st class mein ho ya 9th mein — struggles alag hote hain, par ek pattern common rehta hai: Padhai se avoidance, irritability aur low confidence. Yeh sirf behavior issue nahi hota. Bahut baar iske peeche Dyslexia ya Specific Learning Difficulty (SLD) hoti hai.
Expert Insights: Parents Poochte Hain — Psychologist Jawaab Deti Hain..
“Kya mera baccha kabhi theek se padh paega?”
Dr. Vini Jhariya (Director, Urjasvini Child Development Center):- “Bilkul. Sahi time par dyslexia therapy, remedial education aur structured intervention mile — toh baccha sirf manage nahi karta, woh excel karta hai. School mein bhi, life mein bhi.”
“IQ test aur dyslexia assessment kyun zaruri hai?”
Assessment guesswork khatam karta hai.
Dyslexia screening test helps understand the level of the child.
Jab tak bacche ka cognitive profile aur academic gaps samajh nahi aate, sahi intervention plan banana possible hi nahi. Isse parents ko pehli baar clarity milti hai ki baccha exactly kahan struggle kar raha hai.
“Kya Dyslexia aur ADHD saath mein ho sakte hain?” – Haan — aur yeh combination kaafi common hai. Dono par saath mein evidence-based intervention se kaam karna zaroori hai. Ek ko ignore karne se treatment adhura rehta hai.
“Mera baccha bahut slow hai — kya yeh dyslexia hai?”- Har slow learner dyslexic nahi hota. Lekin agar slowness ke saath reading difficulty, spelling errors, ya writing problems ho — toh screening zaruri hai. Sirf wait karne se bacche ke precious school years waste hote hain.
The Reality of Neurodiversity -Dyslexia koi “bimari” nahi hai — yeh brain ka ek alag learning pattern hai. India mein kai successful professionals aur creative leaders hain jo bachpan mein in challenges se guzre hain. Farq sirf ek cheez se padta hai:
Kabhi kabhi dyslexia mai bache ki handwriting bhi affect ho jati hai kayi baar, jisse hum Dysgraphia kehte hai. Jab hum dyslexia ke intervention par work karte hai toh handwriting mai bhi improvements dikhte hai.
Label se bachne ke chakkar mein kahin hum support se toh nahi bach rahe? Special education ek tag nahi hai—yeh ek opportunity hai bachche ko uski full potential tak pahunchane ki.
Timely identification aur sahi support.- Pehle in assessments ke liye Delhi ya Mumbai jaana padta tha, par ab Indore mein Urjasvini Child Development Center jaisi jagah par psychoeducational assessment, IQ testing, aur remedial planning sab ek hi chhat ke niche available hai.
Conclusion- As awareness grows, it is vital to recognize that children with learning differences are not “lazy”; they simply process information through a different lens. Under the guidance of Dr. Vini Jhariya at Urjasvini Child Development Center, Indore is now equipped to provide the specialized remedial support needed for these students.
By choosing timely evaluation over academic pressure, parents can transform a child’s frustration into a journey of confident, lifelong success.

New Delhi [India], April 18: Most people do not decide to explore LASIK or contact lenses on a good day. They decide on the day their glasses fog up while walking into a restaurant, or when they realise they cannot read the board at the gym without squinting. It is rarely a dramatic moment. It is a small inconvenience, repeated often enough that it stops feeling acceptable.
Once that threshold is crossed, two options tend to come up: LASIK surgery or contact lenses. Both get you out of frames. But they solve the problem differently, suit different people, and carry very different long-term implications. Understanding which one is right for you starts well before the procedure – it starts with knowing what each option actually asks of you.
Understanding the LASIK vs contact lenses question properly
The LASIK vs contact lenses comparison is not about which works better in general. Both have correct vision. The difference is in how, for how long, and for whom each option is appropriate.
Contact lenses sit on the eye and correct vision optically each day. They require regular replacement, cleaning, and consistent compliance. LASIK reshapes the cornea permanently using a laser. The correction is built into the eye itself with no lens to insert and no routine to maintain.
The question that often follows is: If LASIK is permanent, why would anyone choose contact lenses instead?
Because not everyone is a candidate for LASIK. And for those who are, the decision still depends on more than just eligibility.
What contact lenses offer and where they fall short
Contact lenses work reliably for most refractive errors and suit people with a stable prescription and no complications. The practical limitations are real, though. Long-term wear reduces corneal oxygen supply, which over time can cause dryness and irritation, particularly in air-conditioned spaces or with extended screen use.
There is also the compliance factor. Sleeping in lenses, overwearing them, or skipping cleaning steps raises the risk of corneal infections. The convenience of contacts depends entirely on how well the routine is maintained.
Situations where contact lenses tend to remain the better choice:
• Corneas that are too thin or irregular for LASIK
• Prescriptions outside the range treatable by laser correction
• People who prefer a non-permanent correction option
LASIK surgery vs contact lenses: what the procedure actually changes
In the LASIK surgery vs contact lenses comparison, the key distinction is permanence. LASIK reshapes corneal tissue – the change is structural and lasting. The procedure takes around 15 minutes per eye, and most patients see a significant improvement within 24 hours.
What LASIK removes from daily life is the maintenance: no cases, no solution, no lens orders. For people who travel frequently, work in active or outdoor environments, or simply find the lens routine tiring, this tends to be what tips the decision.
A concern that comes up in consultations is: Will the correction last, or will my vision change again?
For most eligible patients with a stable prescription, the results hold well. Presbyopia still develops in the mid-forties regardless of LASIK, and a small percentage may need an enhancement years later if the prescription shifts. But the correction itself is not temporary.
Should I choose LASIK or contact lenses: eligibility first
Should I choose LASIK or contact lenses? It is a question that starts with eligibility. LASIK is not suitable for everyone, and a proper pre-surgical evaluation determines whether it is even an option.
Factors that support LASIK candidacy:
• Age 18 and above, with a stable prescription for at least a year
• Adequate corneal thickness to safely reshape
• No active corneal disease or significant dry eye
• Refractive error within the laser-treatable range
Those who do not meet these criteria are not limited to glasses. ICL surgery, Implantable Collamer Lens, is an alternative for thin corneas or higher prescriptions. Contact lenses remain a reliable day-to-day option for most.
At ASG Eye Hospital, the pre-LASIK evaluation covers corneal topography, pachymetry, tear film assessment, and a full refraction check. The recommendation follows from that data.
Is LASIK better than contact lenses for daily life
Whether LASIK is better than contact lenses depends on what your day actually looks like. For someone who swims, plays sports, or works outdoors, LASIK removes the risk and inconvenience that lenses introduce. For someone with a mild prescription and no complaints with their lens routine, the case for surgery is less pressing.
Cost is another factor. Contact lenses carry an ongoing expense that accumulates over the years. LASIK is a one-time cost that often works out to less over a decade, but it is an upfront investment. Both the financial and practical sides vary by person.
What tends to shift the decision in consultations is when patients realise how much of their day is quietly organised around their lenses.
The evening reminder to remove lenses, the morning routine before you can see clearly, and the backup glasses. LASIK removes all of it. Whether that matters enough is a personal call.
Final thoughts on LASIK or contact lenses
LASIK or contact lenses, which is better, is not a question with a universal answer. It is a question with a right answer for each individual, based on their eyes, their prescription, their lifestyle, and whether they want a permanent change or prefer flexibility.
ASG Eye Hospital, with centres in Mumbai, Noida, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Goa, Guwahati, Patna, Ahmedabad, Indore, Lucknow, and more, offers detailed pre-LASIK evaluations across its network. The process is a thorough examination first, followed by a recommendation based on what the eyes can support, not a default answer either way.
Ditching glasses is possible for most people. The consultation is what makes it safe.
FAQs
1. What is the main difference between LASIK vs contact lenses?
LASIK permanently reshapes the cornea in a one-time procedure. Contact lenses are a daily optical correction that requires ongoing maintenance. LASIK eliminates the routine; contacts maintain it.
2. Is LASIK better than contact lenses for long-term eye health?
For eligible candidates, LASIK removes the long-term risks associated with extended lens wear, including dryness and infection risk. Contacts are safe when used correctly, but compliance matters significantly over time.
3. Who is not suitable for LASIK surgery?
Those with thin or irregular corneas, unstable prescriptions, active corneal conditions, or significant dry eye may not qualify. A pre-surgical evaluation determines this – it cannot be assessed without examination.
4. How long does LASIK correction last?
For most patients, the correction holds long term. Presbyopia develops with age regardless of LASIK, and a small number of patients may need an enhancement if the prescription shifts over time.
5. How do I decide whether to choose LASIK or contact lenses?
Start with an eye examination to check eligibility. The decision then factors in prescription stability, corneal health, lifestyle, and personal preference. A specialist walks through the options once the clinical picture is clear.

New Delhi [India], April 17: At 58, Asha Radhakrishnan, a seasoned educator from Palakkad, Kerala, steps into the literary world with the same warmth and dedication that defined her years in the classroom. Her debut children’s book, Cheeno’s Birthday With Love, is not merely a storybook—it is an extension of a lifelong commitment to nurturing young minds through empathy, imagination, and moral grounding.
With a distinguished teaching career at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, and the Vellammal Group of Institutions in Chennai, Asha has shaped generations of students. Professionally trained at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, she carries decades of classroom insight into her writing. Her stories are rooted in lived experience—crafted with the understanding of what truly resonates with children and earns the trust of parents.
A Teacher’s Heart, A Storyteller’s Voice
Publishing her first book, Asha shares, feels deeply fulfilling and emotional. For years, she connected with children through imaginary stories and spontaneous rhymes that conveyed lessons on discipline, kindness, and responsibility. Though she did not formally write during her teaching years, storytelling was always central to her pedagogy.
“Over time, this storytelling approach naturally led me towards writing,” she reflects. What began as classroom creativity gradually evolved into a desire to carry those value-based narratives beyond school walls and into homes.
Meet Cheeno: A Lovable Guide to Life’s Little Lessons
The inspiration behind Cheeno’s Birthday With Love comes from someone very close to her heart—her pet, Cheeno. The character and many of the story situations are drawn from real-life incidents, lending authenticity and warmth to the narrative.
Through short, engaging stories, Cheeno gently introduces children to moral values and everyday discipline in an age-appropriate and relatable manner. The book is thoughtfully designed to support parents and educators in guiding children through storytelling—making values feel natural rather than instructional.
Readers can expect stories that are simple yet meaningful, joyful yet purposeful. The narrative encourages children to think, relate, and internalize lessons organically, turning everyday reading into an opportunity for shared reflection.
Writing with Purpose
Currently focusing primarily on writing, Asha also envisions engaging in storytelling sessions and creative activities for children in the near future. Her journey as an author is only beginning, and she plans to continue crafting value-based stories that help shape thoughtful and responsible citizens.
Her advice to aspiring writers is heartfelt and sincere: “Write honestly, straight from your heart.”
And to parents and young readers, she offers a simple hope—that this book becomes a happy part of a child’s everyday reading, enjoyed together, creating moments of bonding and shared warmth.
Cheeno’s Birthday With Love is available on Amazon, and readers can connect with the author’s journey on Instagram at read with cheeno.
In a fast-moving world, Asha Radhakrishnan’s stories remind us that the most powerful lessons are often told softly—through love, imagination, and a gentle nudge from a character like Cheeno.

New Delhi [India], April 17: India’s renewable energy journey is entering a decisive phase, where the focus is no longer limited to adding solar capacity but ensuring that clean energy reaches demand centers efficiently. As solar parks expand across regions such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Ladakh, the need for high-capacity power transmission networks has become increasingly critical. Jabraj Singh, a veteran in the field of power transmission, highlights that building strong solar evacuation infrastructure will determine how effectively India can harness its renewable potential. With India targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, transmission systems are emerging as the backbone of the country’s clean energy ambitions.
“India’s renewable energy growth is no longer constrained by generation capacity alone. The real challenge lies in building high-capacity transmission networks that can evacuate solar power from remote renewable corridors to major demand centers. Without strong evacuation infrastructure, even the largest solar parks cannot deliver their full potential to the grid,” says Jabraj Singh, the expert.
India has rapidly scaled solar installations in recent years, particularly in states such as Rajasthan and Gujarat, which offer vast land availability and high solar irradiance. Rajasthan’s Bhadla Solar Park, one of the world’s largest solar hubs, has become a symbol of India’s renewable ambitions. Similarly, Gujarat’s solar expansion in regions like Kutch and Dholera continues to strengthen India’s renewable capacity. Ladakh is also emerging as a key renewable energy hub, with large-scale solar projects planned to supply clean energy to northern demand centers. However, these generation hubs are often located far from consumption centers such as Delhi, Mumbai, and industrial clusters in northern and western India, making transmission infrastructure crucial.
India is aggressively expanding its transmission network to support this shift. According to the Central Electricity Authority’s transmission planning for 500 GW of non-fossil capacity, India’s transmission network is expected to expand to nearly 6.48 lakh circuit kilometers by 2032. Transformer capacity is also projected to grow significantly to support renewable integration. These upgrades are designed to enable seamless evacuation of solar power from renewable-rich regions and strengthen grid stability.
Major green transmission corridors are already being developed to address this need. Recently, power transmission projects worth ₹3,600 crore were inaugurated in Rajasthan to support renewable energy evacuation. These projects are designed to handle up to 20 GW of renewable capacity, significantly enhancing India’s ability to transport solar power from generation zones to load centers. Such initiatives are part of a broader strategy to develop dedicated renewable energy corridors that reduce congestion and improve grid reliability.
Another significant development is the ±800 kV HVDC transmission corridor linking Bhadla in Rajasthan to Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh. This 950-kilometre transmission project is designed to evacuate 6,000 MW of renewable energy, enabling solar power generated in remote desert regions to reach densely populated industrial and urban centers. High-capacity HVDC technology is increasingly being adopted in India to manage long-distance power transfer efficiently while minimizing transmission losses.
Jabraj Singh notes that high-voltage transmission lines and advanced grid technologies are essential for managing the variability of solar energy. “Solar generation is inherently variable, which makes grid modernization and flexible transmission systems extremely important. High-voltage corridors and digital grid management solutions help ensure reliable power delivery even as renewable penetration increases,” he explains.
Green Energy Corridor projects are also playing a major role in strengthening India’s renewable infrastructure. The first phase of the Green Energy Corridor has already been completed, while the second phase focuses on integrating around 20 GW of renewable energy from solar-rich states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. These projects include high-capacity substations, transmission lines, and renewable energy management centers designed to handle fluctuations in solar generation.
Despite strong progress, challenges remain. Land acquisition and right-of-way issues continue to slow transmission projects, particularly in remote and densely populated regions. Multi-agency approvals and equipment procurement delays also impact timelines. However, ongoing policy reforms and increased investment, estimated at over ₹2.4 lakh crore for transmission infrastructure, are expected to accelerate deployment in the coming years.
Jabraj Singh believes that strengthening solar evacuation infrastructure will be critical for long-term energy security. “Transmission infrastructure is the bridge between renewable potential and actual energy delivery. Investing in high-capacity transmission today will ensure India’s renewable energy goals translate into reliable power for industries, cities, and rural communities alike,” he adds.
As India accelerates toward its renewable energy targets, high-capacity transmission networks will play a defining role in shaping the country’s clean energy future. From green energy corridors and HVDC links to smart grid modernization, the focus is shifting toward building a resilient and flexible power transmission backbone. With leaders like Jabraj Singh emphasizing the importance of solar evacuation infrastructure, India’s renewable corridors are set to evolve into powerful engines of sustainable growth, grid reliability, and long-term energy security.

The Bengal members, H M Bangur, Sundeep Bhutoria, Sirshendu Mukherjee, and others, at a function felicitating Goutam Ghose. Mr. Ghose has been appointed Sheriff of Kolkata
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 17: The Bengal, one of Kolkata’s most distinguished socio-cultural organisations, hosted a special felicitation ceremony in honour of its Working President and legendary filmmaker Mr Goutam Ghose on his appointment as Sheriff of Kolkata — and the new Sheriff used the occasion to announce an ambitious plan to recover and restore the city’s forgotten colonial history.
The evening, held at The Taj Bengal, brought together eminent members from the worlds of culture, business, and civic life to celebrate this proud milestone. The Consul Generals of USA, Germany and Australia in Kolkata attended the function.
In what is being seen as a significant cultural and historical initiative, Mr Ghose announced that he intends to use his tenure as Sheriff to undertake the restoration of rare archival documents held in the Sheriff’s office — records that have lain largely untouched since the days of the East India Company. The Sheriff’s office, established in 1774, currently holds administrative and judicial documents spanning nearly two and a half centuries. Speaking at The Bengal felicitation function, Mr Ghose said, “The present office holds administrative and judicial documents dating back to the 18th century. I’m very keen to restore these documents in collaboration with the High Court’s archive committee.”
Expressing the challenges of undertaking such a project, Mr Ghose further said, “I know it’s a very, very difficult job because they are more than 200 years old documents but I’m sure there are people who have the expertise to restore this kind of material. I am sure, if we can restore them, so many unknown facts we might find in those papers that will give students and researchers a new insight about Bengal and colonial rule.”
The Bengal members, Mr Hari Mohan Bangur and Sirshendu Mukherjee, felicitating Goutam Ghose newly appointed Sheriff of Kolkata at a function in Kolkata.
Mr Ghose said he would work closely with expert conservators and the Calcutta High Court’s archive committee to draw up a formal restoration plan. He also lauded the activities and initiatives of Pronam, a joint initiative of The Bengal and Kolkata Police for the elderly, reaching out to over 20,000 senior citizens in the city.
Mr H M Bangur, Chairman of The Bengal, said: “Goutam-da is not merely a filmmaker; he is a cultural ambassador, a storyteller of civilisations. That such a man now serves as Sheriff of our beloved Kolkata is not a surprise — it is the natural order of things.”
Mr Sundeep Bhutoria, Secretary General of The Bengal, added: “Goutam-da’s lens has always captured the heartbeat of Bengal — its rivers, its people, its longings. The Bengal is immensely proud that this honour has come to one of its most cherished members.”
The Bengal has a distinguished tradition of its members serving as Sheriff — from footballer Chuni Goswami in 2005 to literary giant Sunil Gangopadhyay in 2002. Goutam Ghose’s appointment continues this illustrious legacy.
