IIFT FASHIONITE 2022 – A Style for every Story

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], November 28: Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, a Limca book record holder conducted its 19th Fashionite 2022 on the theme ‘Shadow of Style’. It was a unique Annual Fashion Show in which their talented 73 designers unleashed around 144 creative ensembles which were demonstrated by 27 sizzling models on a specially designed ramp at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore. It was an evening of celebration with 1000 plus audience, on the chilly evening of 25th November, 2022. The show started with lighting of lamp by dignitaries present at the do.

The Chief Guests for the evening were dignitaries such as Dr.Gopinath, Rtn.Subhashini and Ms.Sandhya. Mrs.Viji, Chief Academic Officer of IIFT welcomed the chief guests, esteemed members, respectful parents, energetic and enthusiastic academic trainers, students and the world of print media and electronic media.

The jury shortlisted 15 finalists out of 73 participants based on jury criteria such as justice to theme, swatch selections, color aesthetics, innovation in silhouettes, presentation of collections with accessories, ornamentation, styling, and originality.

Themes of the show included Traditional, Ethnic, Western, Indo-Western, Greek, Egyptian, Tribal art as well as various art forms. The colors used indicated various messages to the audience. The fabrics used ranged from Velvet, Lycra, Taffeta, Barso, Chiffon, Georgette, Silk, Jersey, Glass Tissue, Brocades, Jute silk, Drill, Netted fabrics & many more fabrics that are in trend, some of the garment designs were highly accessorized with headgears, Handmade jewellery, Handmade Footwear & some of the designs had highly intricate embellishment and surface ornamentation such as Zardozi work, Kundan work, bead work, Aari work, patch work, Quilling, traditional Indian embroideries, painting & printing were incorporated to present trends combining the materials from different states.

The First category of Awards was for IIFT Best Designer of the Year 2022 and was bagged by Ms. Surpritha M G, Second category of Awards won by Mr. Yathish S L, ‘BEST FASHION ILLUSTRATOR & DESIGNER’ was won by Ms.Niharika B R, Best Designer Award in B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design was won by Mr.Charlee Vishal L, Second Runner up for Best Designer Award was won Ms. Nischitha Y ’. The next category of award was for ‘BEST DESIGNER-NON TEXTILE and was won by  Ms. N V Varshini, The Third category of Awards were won by Ms. Shwetha H R  & Ms. Geetha Priya G.

The First Runner up for Best Designer Award was won by Greeshma S for her theme ‘PAITHANI’ inspired by ‘MAHARASHTRIAN TEXTILE’. The Second Runner up went to Sambavi H. The fourth category of Awards was for Best Collection was given to 5 students Deepthi Bharadwaj, Rashmi H S, Maheshwari G, Mamta, and Vibha of Fashion Designing and Boutique Management.

There was also an award ceremony to honor the BSc rank holders. The audience was spellbound and delighted by the display of creativity that were displayed by their wards and loved ones. The show offered treat for sore eyes with designers, models and International and National Celebrities being part of it.

The IIFT Spokesperson said, ‘We are proud yet spellbound by the creativity of our students, we wish them all the best for their future endeavours. May they takeover the world of fashion one design at a time.

The show concluded with Vote of Thanks by Principal of IIFT College of Fashion Ms. Seema Savio. Along with it all the designers were presented with Prestigious IIFT mementos and certificates in recognition of their hard work and immense efforts.

The event was choreographed by ace wedding choreographer Sumit Khetan, whose troupe of dancers stole the show with their stellar performances and acts.

‘Papa Ni Pari’ was a unique mass wedding ceremony planned and executed by Dinesh Lakhani and Suresh Lakhani, founders of Maruti Impex, a leading diamond crafting company in Bhavnagar. Sumit Khetan was responsible for the entire wedding’s choreography, which included multiple dance performances, shows, and cultural showcases.

“It was a privilege for me and my entire team to design and conceptualise the unprecedented mass wedding ceremony in Bhavnagar when 551 girls who had lost their fathers married in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said choreographer Sumit Khetan. “Aside from the performances and acts, a Royal Bow was handed over to our PM for inauguration of the event thereby blessing the couples. A one-of-a-kind cultural performance was also given at the time of PM Modi’s arrival at the venue.”

According to Khetan, there is a huge contribution to the success of the mass wedding event from the core team members including Akshay Gupta, Prerna Vij, Swapniel Desai, Priyanka Kumwat, Imran Sayyed, Navin Rajjaya, Amit Singh, Nitin Rathore, Aalok Chaudhary, Jitendra Chaudhary, and Kanhaiya Kumar. Chandigarh (India), November 24: Vijay Singla, advisor to JTL Infra, is helping to create a green environment by holding a tree-planting ceremony near the Chandigarh railway station. According to Vijay Singla, railway stations are public space and, as such, are likely to be contaminated with pollution and dirt. It is beneficial to plant trees here to make the place look nicer and enhance the air quality.

In order to preserve the environment and make the nearby area of the Chandigarh railway station more beautiful, people must take part in tree planting and everyone should do their part.

Vijay Singla attended a tree-planting ceremony in the 2nd week of July to mark the start of a massive tree planting exercise here 1 lakh sapling will be planted that would take place over four phases. He addressed the crowd, along with their employees, he says, “it is our duty to preserve the environment and leave a healthy future for the next generation. And to accomplish this, I encourage you all to at least plant or adopt one tree and take care of it like you would do to your own child”.

During the tree planting ceremony, 10,000 saplings will be planted in a huge open area where 1,00,000 saplings will be planted in future. He mentioned that 1000 saplings had been planted in the area near the railway station.

This green campaign near the railway station area in Chandigarh will improve people’s lives. A few strategically placed trees can contribute to erosion management, flood control, climate regulation, air purification, and mental and physical health. They can also provide an aesthetic appeal.

A poster contest and street plays were also held during the tree-planting ceremony to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting and conservation. “The efforts made by these young children are admirable and deserve recognition. After the successful tree planting campaign, Vijay Singla arranged a lunch for the railway staff and other workers.
