    July 14: The tenure of a Rotary Club President is for one year starting from 1st July.

    The Chief Guest for the installation ceremony was the District Governor, Sandip Agarwalla. He was accompanied by his wife, Malini. The first lady of the Club Renjiniwas also present.

    Amongst those who attended the meeting were Past District Governors, Shashi Sharma, and Lata Subaraidu. The Assistant Governor of the Club, Sanjay Barde, Rajendra Unnikrishnan, Milind Patil, and Ashmi Parekh were some of the other district dignitaries who attended. Alpha Presidents, Pankaj Jaiswal, Rakesh Shah, Hitesh Shah, and Prof Mahendra Gharat were also present

    After the traditional handing over of the Charter and exchange of the Presidential collar by Past President Yashwant Gujaran, it was the turn of the incoming President, Premraj to deliver his acceptance speech.

    Premraj delivered a riveting and memorable speech that came for praise from all those assembled. He started with a crafty story tracing his induction into the Rotary club that had elements of story shows, drama, suspense, and humor. The bold commitment to net membership growth came for high praise. Emphasis on the development of members was an innovative feature of Presidential plans. The second line of leadership at the Club has been trained on ‘Grooming for Influence’. During the year, there will be a session on ‘Self-introduction’, templates for ‘introduction of speakers’, and tips to deliver a potent ‘ Vote of thanks. Apart from those multiple sessions on nailing the art of public speaking are also planned. Premraj also revealed an overview of some challenging service projects.

    Premraj acknowledged the support his team had received during the run-up to the start of the year. He singled out PDG, Prafull Sharma for being just a phone call away, Vinay Vyas for his strategic inputs, DGN Chetan for a training session, and Mona Gyani and Rajul Pathak for helping design courses for the Director’s training. Manish Gyani came for special mention for keeping an eye on the overall preparation,  clearing blocks, and coming up with innovative ideas. Support from Harish and Sonal Chandarana along with Harish Davda, Mukesh Thakkar, and Dr.Dharmaji Shinde was also acknowledged.

    The Club Officers for the year are, Vice President Bhadresh Natvani; Secretary Ajay Jain, Treasurer Mayur Joshi, and Sargent at Arms, Dinesh Rege.

    The nominated Directors are Harish Chandarana for Club Administration; Hemant Asher for Public Relations, Ketal Tapaiwala for Rotary Foundation TRF; Dr Dharmaji Shinde for Community Service—Non-Medical and Harish Davda for Membership Development. The other Directors were Rakesh Sheth for Vocational; Vikram Shah for Community Service—Medical, Ashwin Gala for Environment Service, Arti Parikh for New Generation—Youth, Hetal Pathak for Thrust Areas/Special Projects, Deepali Wagle for Women Empowerment, Sunil Sodha for International Service. Manish Gyani is the Executive Club Secretary.

    The Chairman for Medical and Global grants was Mukesh Thakkar, Mayank Desai for Eye bank, Chetan Joshi for CSR, Nikhil Desai for fundraising, Jitu Vora, Bhavesh Vora and Jenny Sampat for Sports, Ajit Vasani and Pravin Parekh for Polio Plus, Sonal Chandarana for Literacy, Bharadwaj for Club Bulletin and Jayesh Kapadia for NGO coordination.

    Dr Bharat Pandya, one of the charter members of the Club who was now the TRF Trustee was felicitated by the Club. Three Club members committed to joining the PHS club. Dr Pandya greeted the incoming club team and expressed confidence they would take the Club to greater heights.

    The District Governor in his address exhorted the Club to think big and gun for large projects. We need to move with the times and adapt to the new world where one will need to re-engineer one’s thoughts and deeds. The vision espoused by the District Governor was lapped up emphatically by those gathered.

    Ajay Jain made the secretarial announcements while President ElectRashikantSanghvi delivered the vote of thanks.

    The start of the meeting on time and the crisp conduct of the meeting came for all-around praise and has set the tone and tempo for the year ahead.

Being selfish and forgetting what it is to give back and help those in need. To bring a change of heart and help those unfortunate souls, a well-known organization based in Kolkata, Maskin Welfare Foundation, has come forward to revive humanity. 

    Maskin Welfare Foundation is an organization with a heart and vision to reach out to the poorest sections of society. It is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that has stepped up its efforts to provide food security, water, and better sanitation for underprivileged people. They have been trying to improve the economic situation of people who find it hard to arrange meals and earn their livelihood. The organization was established in January 2020 to address socio-economic and cultural development with environment-friendly ventures. 

    The Foundation has put in tremendous efforts to help build better educational facilities for the disadvantaged sections in West Bengal. Providing amenities in health care and geriatric care has now taken over new dimensions with help from people influenced by the work put in by Maskin Welfare Foundation.

    Special initiatives such as charity for education, feeding a hungry child, charity health camps, women empowerment programs, food camps, and distribution of books for children are the causes that Maskin Welfare Foundation is currently promoting.     Health awareness is especially low in our country, and those below the poverty line often face the harsh reality of not having a proper healthcare system. Maskin Welfare Foundation has worked out solutions that work on awareness programs. It reaches out to those underprivileged sections for health drives promoting hygiene and care.

    The Foundation has acquired a plot of land. Most of their initiatives begin here. They have built a separate educational unit for teaching children and a fitness unit wherein children can exercise to build their health. A cultural unit used to perform extracurricular activities such as dance, drama, singing, other art forms etc. There is also an outdoor and indoor games unit wherein the children learn to play new sports and games with good facilities for many sports.

    There is a farming unit specifically built to help farmers, allowing them to express their problems and find solutions here. The fishing units are for the fishermen who need help to learn to sell their fish, earn a profit, and apply better fishing methods. The hatchery unit is helpful for those who do poultry farming and as they learn to get better yield and quality of eggs.

    The plot also has an office room to look into the running of the other units. A Maskin Temple is on the premises, which is used as a place of worship.

    As the above initiatives have garnered a lot of response from the public and authorities for commendable work and reach, it has given Maskin Welfare Foundation to think on the lines of building Maskin University for higher education for the underprivileged and multi-speciality hospital for providing better healthcare facilities. 

    The Maskin Welfare Foundation has noble intentions to bring welfare to society and ensure that even the downtrodden are cared for with care and love.

    Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 13: Dubai-based entrepreneur and leading businessman Dr. Dhananjay Datar, popularly referred to as ‘Masala King’, recently released his autobiography, aptly called ‘Masala King — a Journey of Memoirs’ on the occasion of 38th anniversary of Al Adil Group in Dubai.

    The autobiography titled ‘Masala King – A Journey of Memoirs’ penned by Dr. Datar was released in a grand ceremony at the hands of noted playback singer Suresh Wadkar in the presence of Ramdas Athawale, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Also present were the members of the Datar family: his wife – Vandana Datar, and his two sons – Hrishikesh and Rohit, along with employees of the Al Adil group and well-known personalities from various fields. Singer Suresh Wadkar enthralled the crowd with a brilliant performance.

    Speaking on occasion, Dhananjay Datar, CMD, Al Adil Trading group, UAE, “I came to Dubai 38 years ago from India to help my father in his tiny grocery shop. I only had 30 dirhams with me at that time. This land tested my mettle, and when I proved it, I was equally accepted by the people, and they rewarded me with a fortune. I became a successful entrepreneur and a billionaire with determination, hard work, honesty, patience and customer service. These qualities helped transform a small shopkeeper into a Masala King.”

    Speaking about the autobiography, Dr. Datar unfolded his 38 years of entrepreneurial journey with some memorable incidents from his life. He said, “I had spent my childhood in utter poverty. I remained an average student in my school life. In my college life, I would sell products like phenyl and instant mixes in the Mumbai suburbs to help my family. Until then, no one from our family had been engaged in business.”

    Dr. Datar added, “My father, Mahadev, unexpectedly sensed an opportunity in Dubai on the verge of his retirement. He realized that the Indian community living there couldn’t easily get the Indian food products of their choice like flours, chutneys and pickles. He set up a small shop to fulfil that need. Later, when he needed my help and called me to Dubai. Thus, entrepreneurship accidentally entered our life.”

    He also shared some valuable business tips for budding entrepreneurs: “Retain your customers by providing them safe, pure and unadulterated products. Keep them satisfied as they only bring name and fame to you. I was honoured with the title “Masala King’ by the rulers of UAE only because my customers and employees always trusted me and backed me. My dream is to create hundreds of entrepreneurs from the young generation. I penned down my memoirs to inspire and guide them.”

    Indian Singer Nyvaan Sharma Proposes Bridge Courses for Universities

    July 13: Nyvaan Sharma, a singer, social reformer, and Youth Ambassador for the Youth Federation for World Peace has written to the Director of Higher Education requesting the implementation of bridge courses at institutions due to the academic loss brought on by COVID-19. According to him, when classes were conducted online during the COVID-19 period, bridge courses might be used to review the concepts and lectures from that time.

    In the letter, Chandan Sharma A.K.A Nyvaan Sharma remarked that such courses will unquestionably help students understand the concepts and subjects better and close the learning gap.

    “Academic courses have been offered online for the past two years as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and the ensuing lockdown. This caused the students to lose learning and accumulate confusing information.” He wrote in the letter dated July 11.

    Additionally, he has requested that the faculty’s knowledge should be used to elucidate important concepts so that students would be able to understand forthcoming themes and lectures.  He said that this would help students’ capacity to cope with the demands of offline courses as well as their understanding of fundamental topics.

    A copy of the letter was also sent to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of India. To discuss the proposal and other concerns about better benefits for students, Nyvaan indicated that he will meet with the Director of Higher Education in New Delhi the following week.
