December 28: Aparna Satheesan, the internationally acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer, will be felicitated with the prestigious National Nritya Shiromani Award 2022 in January 2022 for her excellence and contribution in the field of Kuchipudi at a global level, in a 7 day long 13th Cuttack Mahotsav: International Classical & Folk Dance Festival. Q:-Firstly Congratulations, So Poonam Please tell us something about yourself?

Thank you for your wishes.

I am from Mumbai, started my career after I got married; while most people think life ends after marriage, it was the other way around for me. I hold a masters degree in journalism, have worked as a newsreader/anchor with a leading news channel in the past and am now a freelance journalist. I’m also a trained radio jockey because I love to talk. I have worked on several modelling assignments and have done many ads. I have also done a film (unreleased) and have been offered a web series; if things work out well should start working on it soon. Fingers crossed.

Q:-How did Mrs India happen?

Ans:-The credit goes to my friends and family. They have always pushed me to reach my maximum potential. They insisted I should participate in a Pageant like this and were sure, if I did, I would definitely win, so the entire credit goes to them for always encouraging, supporting and helping me achieve all my dreams. As a child, I’ve always fancied beauty pageants but never really thought that I would be a part of it someday, and now, after winning Mrs India Earth as one of the top three winners and getting the Mrs Photogenic and Mrs Popular award, I feel great.

Q:-How do you feel after winning?

Ans :-I’m overwhelmed and so glad I participated. There was a very tough competition as the contestants were from various fields, from across the globe, so talented, so beautiful, and so well prepared. Each one of them was an achiever in their own right and had made it to the finalist. So reaching here, when you have such tough competition, is a very special feeling altogether. And this was all thanks to my family, my Bhabhi-Sushma Mishra, my Bhaiya-Rohit Mishra, my Husband-Vikas Chaubey, my Daughter-Avantika Chaubey and my In-laws-Krishna Kumar Chaubey and Sadhana Chaubey. My designer-Shaili and my coach-Rita Gangwani, also supported and helped me a lot. All of them have been of Supreme help to me; without them, I don’t think this would have been possible. Because doing anything like this is not easy, it takes a village of people to get everything done. And I’m so grateful I had all of them in my life.

Q:-Did you come across any hurdles through your journey?

Ans:-Hurdles! No, I don’t think so, I look at it that way, I am a 21st century woman, and I believe in finding solutions. If Plan A doesn’t work, you have to move to Plan B.  I don’t give up, I can multi-task, and if I set my heart on to something, I really make sure I get it. My mantra for success is ,’stay focussed, determined and disciplined and you shall have whatever you want in life.’

Q:-How did you prepare for it ?

Ans :-A lot of hard work, dedication and commitment is needed. I had to follow strict workout regimes, super strict diet, keep myself updated, practice a lot on my walk with heels, balance work with family had sleepless nights and have to give on all the comforts to prepare myself. It’s not at all easy. Having said that, I would also like to add that anything is possible if you have the right people with you, like your family, your coach, your designer, makeup artist and many others.

I’m so grateful for all of them, especially my coach Ms Rita Gangwani who was extremely helpful and supportive. She’s a fantastic mentor and helped me spot my potential and made me believe that I could do it and come out in flying colours.

Q:-Whats your take on women empowerment?

Ans:-I am a woman, and I don’t think there is anything in this world that I can’t do. I think we already possess dynamic abilities in ourselves, and we don’t need any kind of empowerment. I read it somewhere,”if you want to see how powerful a woman is, just try to take her child away and see how she reacts.”

The least one can do is not create unnecessary hurdles and see what she can achieve.

And to my fellow sisters, to all the homemakers, everyone who’s trying, I want to tell you, you matter, you’re important, and you are doing great. If there is anything you want to achieve in life, you can, and you should, do not neglect your dreams and desires. If you want it, go get it. Just the way I did.

Q:- Can you enlighten us with your future career plans?

Ans: I am an actor and model by profession. Hence, I would like to work in the same direction. My focus would be choosing the right films and doing some meaningful cinema.

December 23: The beauty industry has been flourishing for the past decade and what is more relevant is the fact that it has introduced many amazing people. With India bringing Miss Universe 2021 after 21 years home, it is for sure that India is doing great in the beauty and fashion industry. Dr. Hemamalini Rajinikanth is the new woman of today who believed in her passion and opted to achieve it. Hemamalini is a strong-headed woman who has been born and raised in Theni, a small town down south. This is where she aspired to opt for a medical career and decided to study cosmetology in Chennai. Being in the city life and with the accessibility to pursue her passion, Dr. Hemamalini Rajinikanth found ways to be a part of the beauty industry after completing her studies in medicine.

Dr. Hemamalini Rajnikanth met her husband in the workplace and soon got married. Her vision has always been clear, and she mentioned, “Being a medical cosmetologist and a visionary entrepreneur from a small village in Tamil Nadu, I am more motivated and elegantly inspirational. I got married and never marked an end to my dreams rather was just the beginning of a new chapter.”

She added saying, “When I was younger, I went through a lot of body shaming but eventually transformed through a tough journey. With time I became a cosmetologist and embraced my visionary entrepreneurship with two international companies after a long struggle in Chennai. I always aimed to educate and help more people.”  She eventually started appearing in multiple beauty pageants and finally got an opportunity to participate in Mrs. India Earth 2021. This was held on 18th Dec’21. Dr. Hemamalini Rajinikanth turned out to be the Mrs. India Earth- 1st runner up and even grabbed hold of the title of Mrs. Intelligence for 2021.

On this, she expressed, “The Mrs. INDIA Earth is a Beauty Pageant as well as it is an honor to acknowledge Indian ladies will be the most prestigious shows in presence today and will turn into a vehicle for self-awareness and advancement of social appreciation. The ‘Mrs. INDIA Earth’s Pageant is the National Pride and Treasure of India. Mrs. INDIA Earth holds a yearly event for Indian Women who embody Beauty, Talent, Intelligence, and Compassion. The Indian Woman in her lifetime assumes numerous significant parts that make her crucial. Her effort for making a difference through social work even makes it more evident that she is a true pageant holder. Her aim is to help more than 1 lakh cancer survivors in the future as she has always believed in holding the right hand. Dr. Hemamalini Rajinikanth says, “Today I am here with the hunger to break that inferiority complex in most of the women and show the world that every woman is beautiful.” She being from a small town is breaks the stereotypes by stepping into the beauty industry making every woman confident to fight for their own ambition.

December 22: Izaan Khan is one of the young, well-known and most celebrated Fashion Photographers and Film directors. Khan has an impressive clientele of big brands and labels. To mention a few, he has already worked for brands such as Adidas Originals, Mercedes-Benz, and Google for the campaign shoots. Along the way, he has worked for big designer labels and ace designers as well. Hailing from Old Delhi, India, Mr. Khan has documented subjects from A-list Bollywood stars, musicians, supermodels, and artists as well as subjects he has encountered throughout his travels.

Alongside his practice as a photographer, Khan is the creative director and founder of “Freaky Mack – a boutique Advertising Agency, which started its journey in 2018 and is already making a mark in TVCs, campaign shoots and short films, films and stills production, creative direction, and brand strategy.  Khan’s creativity isn’t limited and as a side hustle, he has created logos for brands such as Times Fashion Weeks, India Fashion Awards, Entertainment Premier League, and many more.

Mr. Khaan adds that “for him, camera is a vehicle on which he delivers his passion to produce stills and videos that stay with the viewer long after they see the shot. He strives to achieve this every time he picks up his camera. He is truly blessed to do what he loves every day. He is presently involved in 3 major filmmaking projects as a Director, 2 of short films which are already under post-production. The 3rd one is about to going on floor, and all 3 will be out by the mid of 2022. Additionally, he keeps on directing fashion films and TV Commercials. Having this tightly planned schedule It becomes a difficult thing to balance your work life and your private one. He tries to take one month out each year so that he can just run away from it all with himself. He tries not to work over the weekends unless he has a commission that is not in the city where he lives. Somehow, this arrangement works.

He further adds that; He is very non-competitive person. The only person that he does compete with is himself. And that too every time he feels that he could have done better in a project or any shoot. Mostly, he concentrates on his own work and leaves the competition part to people who are not secure about their talent.
When it comes to planning for the future Izaan either finds himself spending the life of a recluse in a cabin deep in the woods or he would be working hard for his dream project which is directing a high-budgeted science fiction movie. He has always been a fan of good, believable science fiction so he is waiting for the right project and the right time.
