Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 24: TiE Rajasthan proudly celebrates a milestone moment at the TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Global Finals 2024, with two student teams from Jaipur making a mark on the international stage. Team OOMI, from Jayshree Periwal Global School (JPGS), won the 2nd Runners-Up position globally, securing $1500 in prize money, along with special recognitions for Best Customer Validation and the Maker Faire Showcase. Notably, Team OOMI was the only Indian team to reach the Global Top 3, making this a moment of pride for both the chapter and the country.

Adding to this success, Team Stubblet from Neerja Modi School achieved a breakthrough by entering the TYE Global Semi-Finals through a wild card entry — a first-ever for TiE Rajasthan. This year also marks the first time in the chapter’s history that two teams qualified to represent TiE Rajasthan at the Global Finals, highlighting the chapter’s growing role in developing globally competitive student entrepreneurs.

From among 29 international finalist teams, only six were shortlisted to pitch at the final stage. The presence and performance of both teams from TiE Rajasthan demonstrates the impact of focused mentorship and strong academic and community support. Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 19: The annual event of Garima Vayask Vama Group in Surat was blessed with the wisdom and experience of a grand environmentalist Viral Desai popularly known as The Greenman with an understanding of the climate. His strong performance on environmental protection and sustainable lifestyles resonated with members of the senior citizen group with women and once again made him the magnet behind community-based environmental transformation.

The assembly was not an occasion but rather a platform of generational host, where Desai underlined that the use of older women is huge because they determine the environmental views of the respective families and societies. He told the audience, as grandmothers and custodians of customs, you could set the metaphorical seeds of sustainability through your stories and values that you share.

The Role of Women in Climate Advocacy

In his keynote address, Desai wondered why elderly women had failed to show active participation in raising awareness on living in a sustainable manner. Based on cultural pointers and family units, he said their input, especially on the younger generation, may turn out to be the foundation of a greener world.

Desai said, children learn more from their grandparents than we can admit. Through mere incorporation of the messages about valuing the environment into daily communication, cooking styles or traditions, elderly women can teach grandchildren the attentiveness to nature and its importance throughout their whole lives.

According to him, there is a purpose behind the movement to ensure that all citizens, irrespective of their age and background, are motivated to make a positive contribution to help protect the environment. You do not have to go on the streets to protest. You, too, are a Satyagrahi even when you do your composting at home, lessen your plastic usage, or discuss climate change at dinner, Desai proclaimed.

Through the knowledge and the drive of the movement, Desai feels that the U.S. can set an example through the senior citizen population to make the ripple effect that it takes to get people to show personal responsibility, which would then create community resilience.

The program ended in heartfelt applause of appreciation by the audience. The personal stories told by many of the participants about the traditional practices of the environment that they adhered to when they were younger corroborated the timelessness of the message that Desai gave.

Based on the universal doctrines of Advait Vedanta, the Math is envisioned as a world centre of spiritual education and cultural harmony.

Established under the patronage of Rajarshi Bhupendra Modi, the project signifies more than a concrete building—it is an endeavour to restore, preserve, and universalize the wisdom of Jagadguru Adi Sankara, one of India’s greatest spiritual philosophers.

1. Enduring a Timeless Legacy

The Math is so-named after Adi Sankara, an 8th-century philosopher whose understanding of non-dualism (Advait Vedanta) redefined spiritual thought throughout the Indian subcontinent. By the time Adi Sankara was 31, he had written more than 300 Bhashyas (commentaries), re-stimulated the Vedic tradition, and founded four significant monastic centres—Jyotirmath (North), Puri (East), Sringeri (South), and Dwarka (West).

Rampur Math pays homage to this tradition by vowing to impart all 300 Bhashyas for free, in English. The choice is made with the objective of entrenching ancient wisdom in a globally accessible format without sacrificing the richness and sophistication of the original works.
