    New Delhi (India), May 27: The Gramin T10 Cricket Tournament conceived by Dhiraj Deshmukh, is now in its third season, has once again enthralled cricket enthusiasts with its riveting matches and exceptional display of talent. This year’s edition saw an unprecedented participation of 300 teams from various villages, clubs and talukas, totaling over 5000 players. Renowned actor Ritesh Deshmukh and esteemed actress Genelia Deshmukh graced the occasion as Chief Guests with their presence. 

    Gramin T10 – 2024, over 300 teams from Loha-Kandahar (District Nanded), Renapur , Udgir , Nilanga ,Latur city, and all talukas of the district showcased their prowess, with more than 5000 players exhibiting their best performances. Notable participation included 42 teams from Latur taluka, 32 from Latur town, 41 from Udgir, 15 from Ahmedpur, 22 from Chakur, 20 from Devni, 18 from Jalkot, 23 from Renapur, 26 from Shirur Anantpal, 32 from Ausa, 14 from Nilanga, and 13 from Loha-Kandhar taluka. 

    From this extensive talent pool, twelve exceptional teams emerged victorious to compete in the final four-day matches. The gripping final showdown Final Match between Latur City and Renapur, was hosted at the prestigious Latur Krida Sankul Ground.

    The league will feature a city franchise-based team model, drawing inspiration from the success of franchises in other sports leagues worldwide. In the first year, INBL Pro will comprise 6-city-based teams of 15 players each, featuring both Indian and international talent. Players will be chosen through a fair and transparent auction process. Each team will need to have three developed Indian players under 23 years and four international players, one of whom must be of Indian origin. This is to ensure budding talent gets a platform besides ensuring the right blend of local and global talent. The league’s structure includes a preseason hosted in home cities, a regular season played over 45 days in two central venues, and playoffs culminating in a grand finale over the weekend in Mumbai. The number of franchisee teams will scale as the league grows.

    First edition of Veterans Super League (VSL) announced, to feature Indian football legends in Kolkata

    Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 25:  Veterans Football Development Pvt Ltd today announced the first-ever edition of the Veterans Super League (VSL) in Kolkata, to bring top Indian football veterans back to the pitch. The tournament will feature the likes of Indian football legends IM Vijayan, Bhaichung Bhutia, Syed Rahim Nabi, Mehtab Hossain, and Subrata Paul on the sidelines, with more than 350 others joining them on the pitch and is actively looking for sponsors.

    The first edition of the VSL will be played between November 2-24, 2024, in Kolkata and feature 14 teams. The matches will be played across three historic venues, the club grounds of legendary Kolkata trio, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan SC between 7-10 PM. The tournament will consist of 40 matches and will be played in a round-robin format, followed by knockout matches leading to the final.

    AM/NS India organises several events, competitions to commemorate National Fire Service Day

    Surat (Gujarat) [India], April 23: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the largest steel manufacturers in the world, commemorated the National Fire Service Day on April 14 by organising several events aimed at promoting fire safety.

    The theme for the National Fire Service Day this year was “Ensure Fire Safety, contribute towards nation building”, emphasising the importance of a safe environment for the country’s advancement, and urging everyone to accord top priority to fire safety.

    In sync with the theme, the Fire Team of AM/NS India, Hazira, organised various activities to enhance fire safety awareness amongst employees, associates and children. As many as 537 employees participated in the online quiz competition for awareness on fire prevention and protection, and around 700 employees participated in the spot quiz organised at the AM/NS India Hazira plant to enhance fire safety awareness among a maximum number of individuals.

    The fire team also imparted basic firefighting training to students of Hazira’s Nav Jagruti Vidya Vihar School, in which 125+ children and teachers participated. Fifteen departments of AM/NS India participated in the competition for the best department contribution towards fire prevention. Similarly, a scenario-based group firefighting competition witnessed the participation of 102 employees and associates.

    Tabletop exercise, an essential tool for emergency preparedness, response and mitigation plan, saw 112 employees from 18 departments taking part. The events concluded with a live rescue and fire drill by the fire team and the prize distribution ceremony.

    National Fire Service Day is observed in memory of brave firefighters who lost their lives while battling a massive fire at Bombay Dockyard in 1944. The day provides a forum to spread awareness about fire safety and prevention through several events and educational programmes. Additionally, Fire Service Week is observed throughout the country from April 7-14 to promote a fire-safe environment.
