  • Sterling Hospitals’ Sindhubhavan Unit Spearheads Major Cancer Awareness Walkathon with Rotary Club

Sterling Hospitals’ Sindhubhavan Unit Spearheads Major Cancer Awareness Walkathon with Rotary Club

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], February 24: Sterling Hospitals, in collaboration with the Rotary Club, successfully organized a Cancer Awareness Walkathon to promote awareness about early detection and timely treatment of cancer. Nearly 500 participants took part in the walk, which commenced from Sterling Hospital’s Sindhubhavan Unit. The event was held between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM and witnessed enthusiastic participation from healthcare professionals, Rotary members, cancer survivors and citizens committed to spreading the message that cancer can be cured if treated at the right time.

The walkathon aimed to create greater public awareness about cancer prevention, the importance of recognizing early symptoms and the need for regular health check-ups. Organizers emphasized that fear and lack of awareness often lead to delayed diagnosis, whereas timely medical consultation can significantly improve treatment outcomes.

Mr. Santosh Marathe, MD & CEO, Sterling Hospitals, said, “Sterling Hospitals offers diagnosis, treatment, survivorship programs & palliative care under Oncology services. With advancements in oncology care, many cancers can be effectively treated and even cured, if diagnosed at the right stage. Through this walkathon, we wanted to reinforce the message that timely screening and medical intervention can truly save lives.”

Highlighting the Sterling hospital’s continued commitment, Mr. Raman Bhaskar, Zonal Director, Ahmedabad Unit, Sterling Hospitals, stated, “The encouraging participation of nearly 500 citizens reflects the growing awareness in the community. Our Sindhubhavan Unit has been dedicated to providing comprehensive cancer care for several years and initiatives like this help us take the message of early detection and cure beyond hospital walls.”

Dr. Prasad Muglikar, Group Medical Director, Sterling Hospitals Group, said, “Cancer care today goes beyond treatment. It is equally about awareness, prevention and early diagnosis. Initiatives like this walkathon help bridge the gap between medical knowledge and public understanding, encouraging people to seek timely consultations and adopt healthier lifestyles that can reduce cancer risk.”

Dr. Pooja Nandwani Patel, Director – Radiation Oncology, Sterling Hospitals, added, “From a clinical perspective, early detection helps identify cancer cases at very early stages, thereby reducing the need for multiple treatments and significantly improving cancer cure rates while ensuring a good quality of life after treatment. Through community outreach efforts like this, we aim to educate citizens about the importance of screening and reassure them that with modern therapies and multidisciplinary care, cancer can be effectively managed.”

    Sterling Hospitals

Adding the Rotary perspective, the spokesperson said, “Rotary has always believed in serving the community through meaningful action. This walkathon is a step toward educating people that cancer should not be feared or ignored. Awareness, regular check-ups and timely treatment can make a life-saving difference.”

Sterling Hospitals’ Sindhubhavan Unit, a dedicated cancer specific center operational for several years, continues to provide comprehensive oncology services including advanced diagnostics, medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology under one roof.

In urban cities like Ahmedabad, changing lifestyles and delayed health check-ups often contribute to late diagnoses. Sterling Hospital strongly urges citizens not to ignore persistent symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, prolonged cough, unusual lumps, abnormal bleeding or long-standing discomfort.

Regular screenings and preventive health check-ups play a vital role in identifying cancer at an early stage. More importantly, spreading the message that cancer is treatable and, in many cases, curable if addressed in time, is central to this initiative. The successful completion of the walkathon marked a significant step toward building a more informed and health-conscious Ahmedabad, reinforcing the belief that with awareness, regular screening and timely treatment, cancer can be effectively managed and, in many cases, cured.

  • Powering the AI Era: India’s USD 200 Billion Push Needs Power Grid Overhaul

Powering the AI Era: India’s USD 200 Billion Push Needs Power Grid Overhaul

New Delhi [India], February 24: India is rolling out the red carpet for global technology leaders, with a commitment to catalyse nearly USD $200 billion in artificial intelligence investments over the next two years across all five layers of the AI stack. From semiconductor fabrication and data centres to cloud infrastructure and AI applications, the ambition signals India’s intent to position itself as a global AI powerhouse. As this digital ecosystem scales, ensuring robust and reliable power infrastructure will be equally critical to sustaining momentum.

At the recently concluded AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined a vision in which more than half of the energy powering this new AI infrastructure would come from clean sources. States such as Rajasthan and Gujarat already lead in solar generation and transmission expansion. The next phase of India’s AI journey will therefore hinge on strengthening grid integration, enhancing storage capacity, and enabling smarter load management so that renewable energy can seamlessly power the country’s fast-growing AI ambitions.

Over the last few months, nearly 8 gigawatts of green power – built at an estimated cost of Rs. 16,000 crore – have been subject to curtailment amid operational safeguards at the National Load Despatch Centre. To prevent grid disturbances during this rapid expansion phase, only a portion of the electricity has been allowed to flow through new lines, resulting in production adjustments equivalent to 18% of Rajasthan’s average monthly solar output.

For project developers, the transition underscores the importance of synchronized grid planning. Ratings agency India Ratings and Research notes that continued grid-access uncertainty could affect equity returns for renewable projects by 300 to 400 basis points. The central transmission utility (CTUIL) has highlighted a ‘mismatch’ between generation ambitions and demand growth, with over 60 GW of renewable capacity in Rajasthan awaiting transmission approval, pointing to the urgent need for faster infrastructure coordination to avoid congestion and stranded assets.

The implications extend beyond generators to India’s fast-growing data centre economy. Facilities requiring 24×7 power with near-zero downtime are operating in an environment where supply flows are being actively managed. In some metros, data centres already account for up to 15% of local grid capacity, a share expected to double by 2030. With hyperscalers demanding uninterrupted supply and grid operators yet to introduce robust compensation mechanisms for curtailment, reliability planning is becoming central to investment decisions.

Transmission awards worth Rs. 1.2 lakh crore have been issued this fiscal year alone, signalling an aggressive buildout of grid infrastructure. As capacity expands, the next phase will require enhanced real-time data sharing, dynamic load management, and integrated planning to ensure infrastructure is fully utilised.

If India wants to  capitalise on its projected $200 billion AI opportunity, the evolution of grid management from precautionary restriction to active optimisation will be a game changing step. The scale of investment, the pace of renewable growth, and the parallel expansion of transmission capacity suggests that the foundations are being laid efficiently, and not just for AI leadership, but for a more resilient and future-ready energy ecosystem.

Navi Mumbai has been selected as the host city in view of its rapid emergence as a major commercial and infrastructure node. The newly opened Navi Mumbai International Airport, CIDCO’s mobility upgrades, and expanding last mile connectivity provide the scale and access required for an exhibition of this magnitude. The location also addresses a long standing gap for a world class automotive platform in Western India.

“India International Motor Show 2026 is conceived as a definitive convergence point for the mobility ecosystem, where innovation translates into real market opportunity,” said Vidya Alva, Chief Operating Officer, Percept ICE. “Western India has long lacked a world-class automotive platform, and we at Percept recognised this gap early. With our proven expertise in creating high-impact automotive experiences and industry IPs, we are excited to anchor this showcase in Navi Mumbai. Backed by the city’s rapidly advancing infrastructure and a sharp programme of launches, dialogues and live tech demonstrations, IIMS 2026 will ignite new collaborations, accelerate growth, and establish a powerful new hub for future mobility in India.”

Said Tejinder Singh, Project Director & GM, Percept ICE, “IIMS 2026 will be a business-first motor show, blending curated trade programming with spectacular brand experiences. With Percept’s event capabilities and CIDCO’s infrastructural vision, this edition will set a new benchmark for automotive exhibitions in India.”

“Navi Mumbai offers the scale and strategic access that the automotive industry needs now – a connected gateway to Mumbai and to rapidly expanding markets across western and southern India,” said Anuj Wadhwa, CEO, Cidco Exhibition Centre. “Our infrastructure priorities are aligned to support world-class exhibitions such as IIMS and to create meaningful economic impact for the region.”

“IIMS 2026 marks a timely and much-needed step in unifying India’s fast-evolving automotive ecosystem,” said Aarti Neemkar, President India Economic Development Association (IEDA). “For OEMs, suppliers, and technology leaders, this platform will serve as an accelerant, enabling deeper alignment, faster collaborations, and a clearer roadmap toward global competitiveness. The industry has long needed a common stage in Western India, and IIMS fills that gap with the right scale, intent, and industry focus.”

“India’s mobility transition demands a platform where cutting-edge EV, energy, and autonomous technologies can be experienced first-hand by both businesses and consumers,” noted V Senthil Kumar, President, The Society for Smart E-Mobility (SSEM).

“IIMS 2026 will deliver the opportunity with its innovation-led format, test-drive ecosystems, and technology showcases, this show will help accelerate adoption, attract investment, and spotlight India’s leadership in next-generation clean mobility.” Said Mohan Goyal, Zonal Chairman, India Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA).

“Locating IIMS 2026 in Navi Mumbai is a strategic milestone for the industry,” said Deepak Naik, Chairman, Mumbai Bus Malak Sanghatana (MBMS). “Mumbai has always been a critical market for mobility and investment, yet it lacked a world-class motor show and Navi Mumbai offers unmatched accessibility and capacity. This edition will finally give Western India the showcase it deserves and will draw global attention to the region’s automotive potential.”

With over four decades of shaping India’s automotive narrative, Percept Group has delivered high impact launches, dealer ecosystems, auto expos, and consumer engagement platforms for leading global and Indian automotive brands.
