WRC: Pioneering Nepal as Top MBBS Destination for Indian Students

WRC Team: Mr. Sudeep Nayak, Mr. Sunil Sah and Mr. Santosh Kumar Bhagat, Mr. Ranjan Singh, Mr. Tribhuwan Pratap Singh, and Miss Kavita Gusai

New Delhi (India), August 30: Envied for abundant natural beauty of the Himalayas and world-class tourist destinations, Nepal, is making waves for an entirely different reason- that of the most preferred destination for medical studies. Facilitating this transition is the global entity Wide Range Consultancy (WRC) Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu, founded in 2007 by Mr Sudeep Nayak. Since its inception, the pioneering WRC is playing a pivotal role as a credible admission service provider, guiding Indian parents and their wards to some world-class medical universities in Nepal, India, Bangladesh and many other countries. A pioneering entity of its kind, WRC, a Nepal Government registered educational consultancy, has redefined the choice of studying MBBS in Nepal by making the environment favourable for it.

In recent years, Nepal has gained prominence as a safe and ideal destination for pursuing MBBS by foreign students, particularly, Indian students aspiring to be doctors. What are the factors leading to this rising trend of Indian students opting to do so makes for an interesting exploration of facts such as eligibility criteria, admission procedures, tuition fee.

Giving an edge to Indian students seeking admission to Nepal’s medical institutions is the geographic proximity between the two countries, who share unique ties of friendship and cooperation characterized by an open border and deep-rooted kinship and cultural similarities that enables Indian students to easily adapt themselves to Nepal. Since Indians don’t require Passport or VISA to travel Nepal and vice versa, students can easily go home during vacations. Another clinching factor is that Nepal is one of the safest countries, saving parents the anxiety like those of students studying in Ukraine, who were forced to leave their studies in-between to return home after the war broke out with Russia, while many are still struggling to get admissions in other countries.

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a four-and-half-year integrated program followed by a compulsory internship training of one year in their parent hospital which is same as in India. It is also cost-effective in Nepal as compared to many private medical colleges in India. Besides, the medium of instruction is English, and both countries share a similar medical curriculum because they follow guidelines set by Nepal Medical Council (NMC). This curriculum compatibility factor ensures that the course content and academic standards are comparable, making it easier for Indian students to adapt and pursue their medical education in Nepal. On getting the degree, Indian students can appear for License examination conducted by Nepal Medical Council (NMC). Since food, disease, trade name of medicine etc., are common with Nepal, Indians can even easily practice as per Labour Act of Nepal.

    Building a Today for Tomorrow

WRC has close links with all the 20 medical colleges, both government and private. Each of them has their own hospital ranging from 300 to 1000 bedded capacity. Colleges like Manipal College of Medical Sciences – Pokhara have huge infrastructure of 300 acres of land with modern lab, latest equipment with small capacity of student to teach. The ambience is of a Gurukul to those who want to study in top medical colleges of Nepal. Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) – is a prestigious medical college located in beautiful city of Nepal, Pokhara and was established in 1994. MCOMS has strong Network of Doctors & Globally experienced faculties with expert & quality services in critical care (SICU, MICU, PICU, NICU) Neuro – Medicine, Spine Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Uro – Surgery, Pulmonary medicine, Sleep Medicine and Gynae / Obstetrics Services. The maximum intake of students for MBBS is 100, out of which 50 % is reserved for foreign national students at MCOMS and 8 % in government medical colleges of the land-locked nation.

With so much on offer, WRC is proving to be a reliable link between the institutions and the students, enhancing the prospects of pursuing MBBS in Nepal, which is attracting the attention of international students to top medical institutions such as Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara, which are equipped with the state-of-the-art amenities required for medical pedagogy, and sharing information concerning the medical science.

    Criteria for admission

Student seeking direct admission in any private colleges should qualify the NEET, 2023 with marks 137 and above, with 50 % in PCB.  Only those students aged 17 and above should apply for Medical Education Commission Combined Examination Form, which is expected to publish in first week of September, 2023. This is much ahead than previous year giving students ample time to search for good colleges in Nepal.

Also, the Government of Nepal has published common fee structure of USD 75000 for all medical colleges, irrespective. However, almost all private medical colleges give huge scholarship to attract Indian students which ranges from INR 42 to 60 lakh tuition fee in total.

Through its extensive experience in this service sector, WRC is providing an array of seamless education information and assistance to Nepalese and Indian students in getting admission into universities of international recognition and repute, winning the hearts of thousands of students and parents by helping them realize their dream.

  • Empowering PWD Candidates: SkillArbitrage Offers Scholarships Worth INR 1 Crore!

Empowering PWD Candidates: SkillArbitrage Offers Scholarships Worth INR 1 Crore!

Empowering PWD Candidates: SkillArbitrage Offers Scholarships Worth INR 1 Crore!

New Delhi/Gurugram (INDIA), August 30: Edtech company SkillArbitrage has announced fully funded scholarships for 200 persons with disabilities (PWD) for its upskilling courses.

These courses will help them find jobs both in the domestic private sector as well as remote freelance opportunities in countries like the US, UK and Canada.  Candidates who complete the courses successfully will be co-certified by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Finding a good job has often been a challenge reported by many PWD candidates since many organisations, even today, hesitate to readily hire them based on their talent and skillsets.

The upskill courses are crafted by experts to teach the most in-demand skills in the fields of content writing, finance, compliance, startup generalist, strategic HR, artificial intelligence, accounting and bookkeeping, among others.

To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must produce a government-issued disability card or certificate of disability. The scholarship will be offered purely on a first-come-first-served basis for 200 learners with disability.

“SkillArbitrage is fortunate that we have the resources today to support the PWD community” said Ramanuj Mukherjee, CEO, SkillArbitrage. “We have been giving 100% scholarship to all PWD candidates who approached us already. We are now ready to expand the program aggressively and we hope to be able to cater to 200 brilliant minds over the next 6 months and help them to achieve their dream careers.”

Himanshu Karkhane has enrolled in the Startup Generalist and Virtual Assistant Training program after receiving the scholarship and is transitioning from an engineering career to that of a generalist and a virtual assistant. A native of Aurangabad, obtained a graduate degree in mechanical engineering from Sardar Patel College of Engineering in Mumbai and landed a job at Tata Consulting Engineers. Only two months into the job, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

Determined to carve out a successful career, he took to online learning and is now building an international career as a startup generalist and virtual assistant.

Previously, LawSikho, a sister brand of LawSikho had rolled out a similar scholarship program for PWD candidates who wanted to build a legal career.

Muskan Anand, an English Hons graduate, benefitted from the scholarship programme already. In her words: “With this course, I will be able to take up freelancing opportunities which will help me to earn a little while I continue with my studies.” As she also pursues her law degree, she is making her childhood dream come true.

“Ever since I was in 9th standard I knew I wanted to do law. As a Person with Disability and as a female, many of my rights get violated, hence I decided to pursue law so that I can protect them,” she said.

After enrolling in the LawSikho course, she realised that not only legal acumen and skills but networking and personal branding are critical for a successful career too. As a student of the contract drafting course, she is making every effort to build a great track record.

Another recipient of the scholarship, Sachin Rathore enrolled in a Diploma in International Contract Negotiation, Drafting and Enforcement. Rathore drew inspiration from his uncle who works at a prominent law firm in Dehradun.

He is pursuing a law degree from Aligarh Muslim University and is currently in his final year. Eager to enhance his practical skills and knowledge, he decided to enroll in the course offered by LawSikho.

“I genuinely appreciate the efforts made by the organisation in promoting equal learning opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This will continue to empower and enable individuals with disabilities to access professional education on par with everyone else,” he says.

SkillArbitrage aims to extend this mission of emulating the triumph of PWD scholarships in legal courses to encompass a wider array of non-legal courses.

According to Vibhas Sen, Head of Marketing at SkillArbitrage, who is an IIM Calcutta alum and a paralympian, “Many jobseekers with disabilities find remote work more suitable and convenient, but very few programmes exist for them. Even remote learning opportunities are few, that is why we thought of bringing classrooms to the homes of our learners. At the heart of our mission lies the passion to ignite curiosity and empower minds. With our 100% scholarships for the physically disabled, we embark on a journey to redefine accessibility in education.”

    About SkillArbitrage

  • Vineet Gupta Jamboree MD talks about navigating exam anxiety, stress, and student mental health

Vineet Gupta Jamboree MD talks about navigating exam anxiety, stress, and student mental health

In modern education, the pursuit of academic excellence often comes hand in hand with mounting pressures and mental health challenges. As students strive to excel, they grapple with exam anxiety and stress, which can significantly impact their overall well-being.

    Understanding the Landscape

Vineet Gupta, Jamboree Education Founder and a prominent name in the Indian education sector, emphasises the importance of understanding the situation of exam-related stress. “It’s crucial to recognise that the pressure to perform well in exams can lead to severe anxiety among students,” Gupta says. “As educators, we must create an environment where students can openly discuss their fears and concerns without feeling judged.”

    Fostering a Supportive Environment

Creating a supportive environment is pivotal in combating exam anxiety. Students should feel that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a proactive step towards success. Educational institutions should implement mentorship programs and counselling services. These avenues allow students to express their anxieties and receive guidance from experienced individuals.

A standards club training programme was organised recently by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai, in which as many as 68 mentors from various educational institutions participated.G. Bhavani- the Head of the BIS Chennai Branch Office, highlighted that the event aims to provide mentors with valuable insights so they can educate students about the significance of standards in both personal life and society, as well as the potential career pathways within the industry.

    Embracing Holistic Learning

The pressure to excel in exams often drives students to rote memorisation rather than holistic learning. Gupta advocates for a different approach, “Education should focus on nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving, and a genuine understanding of the subject matter. Students’ confidence grows when they grasp concepts instead of memorising facts, reducing the anxiety associated with exams.”

    Mindfulness and Stress Management

Integrating mindfulness practices and stress management techniques into the curriculum can be transformative in the quest to alleviate exam-related stress. It becomes essential that teaching students how to manage their stress equips them with the necessary life skills.Yoga, meditation and breathing exercises help students stay calm and centred during challenging times. Mindfulness techniques also improve academic performance and contribute to overall mental well-being.

A recent study, spearheaded by Dr. R. M. Anjana, Vice-President of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation in collaboration with the Delhi-based Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth (India) and the AIIMS, New Delhi, has indicated that yoga, renowned for enhancing flexibility, balance, strength, and cardiovascular health, possesses the potential to reduce anxiety, enhance concentration and memory, and elevate overall academic performance.

    Redefining Success

In a society that often equates success with high grades, success is often solely tied to exam results. It creates a different burden with exam anxiety and fear of failure, even leading to increasing cases of suicides.

Renowned institutions such as IIT Delhi are revising their evaluation approach, as they have eliminated a series of mid-semester exams. According to Director Rangan Bannerjee, this decision has been made to alleviate the stress experienced by students. The institution’s adjustment to the evaluation system follows a series of tragic suicides in different institutions nationwide, sparking discussions about the demanding and intense curriculum and rigid study timetable. These factors have been noted to affect the overall mental well-being of the students adversely.

“It’s about personal growth, resilience, and a willingness to learn from failures that should be given utmost importance,” Vineet Gupta of Jamboree Education suggests, celebrating individual achievements, regardless of conventional measures of success. “When students realise that their worth extends beyond their academic performance, the burden of exam anxiety gradually eases.”

Navigating exam anxiety, stress, and student mental health is an intricate journey that requires educators, parents, and students’ collective efforts. As we strive to redefine success and build resilience, we pave the way for a generation of students who are not only academically accomplished but also mentally strong and well-prepared to face life’s challenges.

        • The excellence of the student experience, which benefits a much wider community. In addition, the experiential approach to learning, the effectiveness of the work-study track, and the range of student support services were also highly commended.

The report also highlighted Excelia Business School’s research expertise and strong focus on CSR and tourism.

    The AMBA accreditation

The AMBA accreditation is an international accreditation delivered by the Association of MBAs, an independent organization based in London. The AMBA accreditation denotes the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education. The number of accredited schools is limited to 300 institutions globally.

One of the main priorities of this plan is to make the group a leader in the ecological transition, a field of excellence widely applauded in both audit reports.”

  • The Future of Higher Education: AI-Driven Innovations on the Horizon

The Future of Higher Education: AI-Driven Innovations on the Horizon

New Delhi (India), August 26: The landscape of higher education is on the cusp of a transformative revolution as Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a driving force in reshaping traditional teaching and learning paradigms. The dawn of AI-driven innovations in higher education promises to enhance the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of learning experiences for students worldwide.

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected and reliant on technology, the integration of AI into higher education is not merely a trend; it’s a necessity. Educational institutions are recognizing the potential of AI to revolutionize teaching, learning, and administrative processes. Here, we explore the future of higher education and the AI-driven innovations that are set to redefine the sector.

One of the most significant transformations brought about by AI is personalized learning. Traditional one-size-fits-all educational models are giving way to tailor-made learning experiences. AI algorithms analyse students’ learning patterns and preferences, enabling educators to deliver customized content, assessments, and interventions. This personalized approach not only fosters better student engagement but also supports a deeper understanding of complex subjects.

Predictive analytics is another area where AI shines brightly. Educational institutions are harnessing the power of AI to predict student performance and identify potential learning challenges. This early intervention system allows universities to provide timely support, ultimately improving student retention and success rates.

In the realm of teaching, AI-driven innovations are making education more interactive and engaging. Virtual assistants and AI-powered tutors are becoming commonplace, providing students with instant access to information and assistance. Educators are freed from routine administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on more meaningful interactions with students.

While the promise of AI in higher education is undeniable, it comes with its set of challenges. Ethical considerations, data privacy, and the digital divide are critical issues that must be addressed. Ethical guidelines for AI in education need to be established to ensure responsible and equitable AI use. Additionally, efforts are required to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that all students have access to AI-driven educational resources.

The future of higher education is not just about the adoption of AI but also the development of AI-driven content. AI-generated textbooks, quizzes, and learning materials are becoming more prevalent, offering educators a wealth of resources to enhance their teaching methods.

Looking ahead, the possibilities are vast. AI-driven innovations, including virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), are poised to create immersive learning experiences. VR can transport students to historical events or distant places, while AR can overlay information on the physical world, making lessons more engaging and memorable.

Moreover, AI-driven chatbots and virtual advisors are transforming the way students access support services. These AI systems can provide instant responses to inquiries about course registration, financial aid, and campus resources, ensuring students have the information they need at their fingertips.

The future of higher education is intricately tied to the evolution of AI. As AI-driven innovations continue to emerge, the higher education sector must adapt and embrace these technologies responsibly. The potential to create more personalized, efficient, and engaging learning experiences is within reach, and institutions that harness the power of AI will be at the forefront of this educational revolution.

IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) recognizes the significance of AI-driven personalized learning. Driven by a commitment to excellence, the institution is incorporating AI-based tools and platforms into its curriculum to provide students with a competitive edge in a rapidly changing job market.

Moreover, AI is facilitating research and innovation in higher education. It enables data analysis at an unprecedented scale, opening doors to groundbreaking discoveries and insights. Research institutions, including IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus), are leveraging AI to accelerate their research efforts, contributing to advancements in various fields.

As AI continues to evolve and become more integrated into higher education, it is essential for institutions to prepare both students and educators for this new era. IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) is committed to ensuring that AI-powered education is inclusive. The institution is actively working on initiatives to make AI-driven education accessible to a diverse range of students, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Independent directors’ course offered by SkillArbitrage attain 100% success rate

New Delhi (India), August 25:  A three-month course offered by SkillArbitrage to people who want to become Independent Directors has seen a 100% success rate among learners.

All 26 SkillArbitrage learners who took the Independent Directors Online Proficiency Test so far, which is conducted by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), have qualified. Several of them have also been appointed Independent Directors in companies that are headed for IPO.

The SkillArbitrage course helps candidates not only to clear this exam for being appointed as independent directors, but also help them to develop a stronger personal brand, network with entrepreneurs and merchant bankers, and study advanced corporate governance subjects. These steps are critical to bridge the gap between merely qualifying to be appointed and actually getting appointed.

There is a huge shortage of Independent Directors (ID) at the moment. As of August 10, there are only 23,375 registered IDs as per a database maintained by the IICA. Of these, only 12,782 have already passed the self-assessment test.

At present, India needs at least 30,000 more qualified Independent Directors, assuming every listed company is required to appoint 3-4 directors. Adding unlisted companies and private companies currently preparing to issue their IPO, the number could be much higher.

Every listed company with a paid-up capital of over Rs 10 crore, a turnover of more than Rs 100 crore, or outstanding loans, debentures and deposits of more than Rs 50 crore must appoint Independent Directors to its Board.

This rule extends to startups planning an IPO as well. Given the shortage of qualified IDs, companies are hard-pressed to find good, upstanding candidates from the IICA database.

The idea of having at least two women directors on the Board has also made things difficult since there are only 6,607 qualified women in the database.

The demand for IDs is extremely high at the moment, and the perks are many, apart from the hefty sitting fees that IDs can charge.

To prepare mid-career and senior professionals to pass the exam, SkillArbitrage launched its course in January 2023. The comprehensive syllabus covers the 2013 Companies Act, Securities Law, basic accountancy and governance and much more.

So far, all the learners who have taken the exam have qualified.

Mr. Pradipta Kumar is one of the learners who qualified for the exam on his first attempt. Kumar’s professional journey spans diverse domains.

He began his career at ONGC Limited, where he held influential positions such as Director of ONGC VIDESH ATLANTIC INC. in Houston, Texas, USA, and General Manager-Geophysics. At present, he is a freelance Coach specialising in stress management and has also published several books.

“SkillArbitrage played a crucial role in my success in the ID Exam. The course provided comprehensive coverage of various topics such as the Companies Act, ID roles and responsibilities, and board functioning. It was well-structured and aligned with the requirements of IICA/MCA, and the mock tests I practised on gave me massive confidence to crack it in a short time,” he says.

“It is incredible to see a 100% success rate of our learners in the test, which is a testimony to the hard work put in by the learners as well as the teachers,” says Ramanuj Mukherjee, CEO of SkillArbitrage. “It is our privilege to shape the careers of the shepherds of capitalism who will protect the interests of public investors in India’s boardrooms.”
