WBBPE launches new website after the cyber attack by unknown hackers

    Read Time:1 Minute, 17 Second

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], March 17: The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has launched a new website www.wbbpe.org.pl  after the hackers carried out a successful cyberattack on the government server which hosted its original website www.wbbpe.org  on Wednesday.

The defacement came to light when the board received several complaints from the students and parents regarding the webpage showing HTTP error 503.2 and service unavailable on March 15.

Dr. RC Bagchi, secretary, WBBPE said, “The WBBPE’s official government website has been hacked in a successful cyberattack by the hackers. Since March 15, students and parents were unable to access our official website due to the cyber attack. However, the government has launched a new website www.wbbpe.org.pl  to facilitate the students and parents for accessing vital information from the board.”

In 2020-21, India had a total of 11,58,208 cyber security incidents. According to a study from the Central Government, cyber security attacks grew to 12,13,784 by October 2021. In the last two years, about 87,050 cyber security incidents were directed at government organisations.

Data security is becoming increasingly important, particularly for governments that are more exposed to cyber-attacks. And, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak, security experts have warned that cyber-attacks will only become more prevalent.

Dr. Bagchi added, “We are seeking expert advice for securing our new official website from further cyber-attacks. Still, the hackers are anonymous and they may have stolen the important data.”

Gwendolen Noronha on education upliftment quality and addressing the effect of the global crisis on children

    Read Time:3 Minute, 3 Second

March 16: A few days after International Women’s Day, Gwendolen Noronha took to her Instagram handle to show solidarity and used her reach to spread the message of peace in support of Ukraine. Gwendolen wrote, “Fear isn’t the emotion that children should face every moment and every day of their lives. They do not recognize the chaos around them. The confusion and scare build within leaving deeper scars than we can measure. Being a global educator, I have known only one citizenship- global humanity. I pledged and donated to “Save the Children”, an organization working tirelessly to help the children in Ukraine. It doesn’t matter where you are from or where you belong, in whatever way you can- stand to help.”

Last year, Gwendolen Noronha along with her social initiative, “Educate, to educate”, provided heat relief care packages consisting of mangoes and vitamin-enriched fruit juices to thousands of children coming from lower-income families. Gwendolen strongly supports children’s rights and is involved in the upliftment of their education quality. She has been an active entrepreneur in the education sector for 14 years and continues to win several awards and appreciation internationally for her contribution to subjects related to mental health including being appreciated this year by the Women’s Icon Awards.

Recently, while addressing other educators at a session in the United States, Gwendolen highlighted the increase in levels of anxiety amongst children. She stated, “The pandemic and several other unusual situations like the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia have caused children to feel confused and unsafe. These mixed feelings lead to high levels of anxiety in them.  Some children keep their worries to themselves and, thus, the signs can be missed”. Gwendolen further talked about the challenges children are facing across the globe while they prepare to return to schools, saying, “The topics we as adults might find petty are at times huge for children. Many countries opted for online schooling for over two years to help ease the spread of the Covid-19 virus. During this phase, children had to adapt to a lifestyle that was tough for them. For their age, spending time with friends during recess, sharing lunch, riding the school bus together, etc are essential parts of their daily lives and suddenly they were deprived of it. Even though it is for their safety, it is a difficult concept for them to understand. After two years when they now need to return, they will be anxious again and some might face adjustment issues. These changes are vast for their minds and parents, guardians, and school authorities must provide all the understanding, help, and support they can”.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Gwendolen will be launching her multi-skill development platform under her firm, “MetaMind” which also features a few celebrities across the world. She is all set to make her mark in verticals beyond mental sports which include collaboration with brands like The Designer’s Class, co-founded and owned by Samarth Bajaj that hosts one of the Indian industry’s best celebrity designers like Masaba Gupta, Rhea Kapoor, Kunal Rawal, and many more. Her recent collaborations include names from the west like Adrian Gorbaliuk, actor and visual artist from the United States of America. The platform will dedicate a special segment to mental and physical fitness that will offer constant support to its users. For the first two million users that enroll for the mental fitness-related courses, Gwendolen has pledged to offer the same course for free to another two million users from lower-income families. The platform is set to launch globally in the next few months.

Bollywood PR guru agrees to accept journalism internships in content writing

    Read Time:3 Minute, 56 Second

March 15: A simple Google search in his name brings up thousands of results. Bollywood’s only PR guru Dale Bhagwagar who has introduced the maximum PR trends in the public relations industry, has agreed to train journalism students in content writing, through unpaid virtual internships from his PR agency Dale Bhagwagar Media Group.

Having spent 11 years in journalism, Dale Bhagwagar shifted to public relations 25 years ago. Since the last two decades, the legendary PR expert has been training students of mass communication through PR internships, PR orientation workshops and guest lectures. A lot of his students now work in various media houses and PR agencies across India. He has also been a guide to twenty PhD students for their thesis and dissertations.

Work-from-home journalism internships in content writing

Apart from his experience and expertise in media, Dale is known for his journalistic astuteness and PR ethics. After 36 years of catering to the news industry, the media maven’s PR agency Dale Bhagwagar Media Group has agreed to accept unpaid virtual journalism internships in content writing for select students across media. Announcing this development, JournalismInternship.in explains about how the PR firm has opened its doors to help a wider set of media students. Dale Bhagwagar Media Group’s ‘Unpaid Virtual Internships in Content Writing’ are based on work-from-home projects, assigned mainly to students studying journalism, content writing and/or public relations.

    Why content writing

Without understanding how to write great content, one can never be a great journalist or a great PR. Humans have moved from the Stone Age to the Labour Age, Industrial Age and then the Information Age — now speedily heading into the Communication Age.

With the right direction and right guidance in writing and communication skills and its proper processes, one can improve on content writing skills from a news media point of view. Without perfecting this, journalism and PR learning remains incomplete in an era where content is king.

The Virtual Internships have an entry barrier on who the PR agency chooses to train. There is an entry test all applicants must take. Only if the agency is satisfied with the entry test response, will the applicants be accepted for the two-month virtual journalism internship in content writing.

The entry test involves content generation of two news articles on topics commissioned by the agency. The articles are scrutinized for writing quality, news value, expressiveness, formation of sentences, grammar, copy editing and meeting the deadlines of article submission. If the two news articles meet the agency’s expectations, it issues an offer note to the applicant to join as a Virtual Intern.

The period of the internship is two months, which is essential for understanding content strategy, journalistic styles and ethics, spin techniques, methods of news writing, formation of content, news angles and news writing formats.

    Intern articles published online

As a Virtual Intern, the applicant is expected to stay in touch over the phone and on WhatsApp each day for two months and generate two news articles everyday for 60 days.

In case the daily articles prepared by the Intern meet the journalistic standards of national news websites, the PR firm speaks to select websites and gets some of them published. These could be extremely beneficial as reference links for the Intern, when seeking a job in mass media professions such as journalism, content writing or PR in future.

Digital Certificate and Letter of Appreciation

On successful completion of the Virtual Internship, students get a Digital Certificate and Letter of Appreciation from Dale Bhagwagar Media Group.

    Who is Dale Bhagwagar?

For the uninitiated, Dale Bhagwagar is a leading celebrity publicist in India with 36 years of experience in the news media industry — 11 years in journalism, followed by 25 years of expertise in PR. As a journalist, he has written for national publications like The Indian Express, The Asian Age, DNA, Screen, Cine Blitz, Showtime, Moviemag International and the iconic Blitz tabloid, among others.

As a publicist and thought leader, he has been quoted in almost every top media in India. He is also the only Indian publicist who has been quoted in top best international media such as BBC, Sky News (UK), CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post (US), The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), International Herald Tribune (France) and Pravda (Russia).

He heads the PR agency Dale Bhagwagar Media Group in Mumbai which has handled the publicity for over 300 Bollywood personalities, 30 movies and 20 Bigg Boss contestants. Its activities bear his personal touch and stamp. The agency has been at the forefront of the entertainment PR brigade for more than two decades.
