  • The New Contagion

    Kolkata, Aug 7: The world has shaken us to awaken us. We have all witnessed the power of a tiny virus known as Corona. At the same time, we have also witnessed the power of another tiny virus. Kindness. Almost as contagious.

    We have seen doctors, nurses, frontline workers, and social workers put their own lives at risk to save the lives of so many others.

    An interesting question comes up here. Without even putting our lives at risk, if there were a way to save eight lives, or give vision to six people, then why would we not?

    Until recently, there was no hope for those suffering from end-stage organ failure. Neither were there any poetic crimson sunrises or golden sunsets for those who knew only one colour: black? And then yes, a solution was found. The ‘vaccine’ was found. Yes, it took years of research and hard work. It was called Organ Donation. A miracle of medical science. A medical landing on the moon.

    At a time when the world was praying for the COVID vaccine, how would it be if, now, after we have the vaccine, people continued to die simply because they refused to make use of it?

    While we have been discussing daily figures of fatalities due to COVID in the last year, let us be informed that five lakh lives are lost in India every year due to organ failure.

    While we say ‘yes’ to the COVID vaccine to save our own lives, let us say ‘yes’ to Organ Donation too – a vaccine that can help save lives of others.

    Let us take this as our national duty.

    Let us pledge to be Organ Donor today.

    Let us usher in the contagion of Kindness.

    Shruti Mohta is a crusader for organ donation, spreading awareness since 2017, and is the founder of the Live Kingsize Die Kingsize Foundation. The foundation has some of the leading transplant doctors of India and also enjoys the support of eminent persons from the fields of music, dance, theatre, sports and business.

    Shruti will be leading a panel discussion on 12th August at 8 PM IST, with some of the leading transplant doctors of the country, the Jt.Director of ROTTO, and other experts. This will be streamed live on the FB pages of the LKDK Foundation as well as PRSI, Kolkata Chapter. All are welcome to join this informative session.

    On asking what motivated him to start such a nice imitative, Rohit replied, “I remember two years back while I was a guest speaker at a seminar held by CT institute, I met many students who were fans of my work & I talked to a student who was so deeply passionate for photography and capturing moments but wasn’t able to afford a good camera or high-end smartphone. At that particular moment, it struck my heart that I have to do something about this problem because talent & passion can never be replaced by money. So I started brainstorming on where we are today.”

    “I want to create a channel where talent wins over money bars, where your passion and enthusiasm is enough for you to click PRO photographs and capture those moments instead of the need for high-end costly equipment. After all your passion and hard work drives your success. And rest for the techniques, I am there to teach tricks and hacks via my Affordable Photography PRO Tutorials,” Rohit mentioned.

    Over the years, Rohit came forward as a Mentor & Inspiration for Young Enthusiasts & a new generation of Photographers & Multimedia experts. CT University organized a workshop cum extension lecture & invited Rohit as a Motivational Speaker on World Photography Day. Rohit did a Workshop free of cost on Photography Advance Lighting held by Lovely Professional University. “I love to share my life experiences with young enthusiasts of photography. When I see the spark in their eyes while learning new things, it gives me ultimate happiness and satisfaction in my career. I wish to do more for them, teaching and guiding them as much as possible”, Rohit added.

    Rohit is also associated with Lumix as a Camera features explainer. In 2018, Rohit was Mentor & Chief Guest at the Food Photography Workshop help by the E-magazine Style and Geek in Gujarat. In 2019, he was a guest of honour at a Photography workshop in Dream Zone, Pathankot. MAAC Institute invited Rohit as Guest of Honour for Basics to Advance Photography Lectures. So, when asked what he thinks about the title of “Photographer with Magical Touch” Rohit added, “I don’t even think about it. I am from a humble middle-class family & have been taught humbleness ever since I was a kid. In fact, my grandpa always used to say, focussing on stars while keeping your feet on the ground should be the motto of your life”.

    Along with his Magical touch title and being a mentor to the new generation, Rohit is also a passionate contributor to Animal Welfare. Being a big-time animal lover, he is Vice President of an NGO, Raahat for Stray Animals (relief for stray animals) where they work hard to feed, treat & vaccinate stray animals at the national level. Rohit himself has adopted an Indian mix breed who was abandoned as a kid. Talking about his passion for animal welfare Rohit says, “I believe in one mantra – Who feeds a hungry animal feeds his own soul. If I could, I will adopt all stray animals of the world and keep them with me forever. I request everyone to adopt one stray animal & feed them daily & no animal will die of hunger. We all should unite together to take care of animals as they have equal rights on earth as we have.”

  • All India Poultry Breeders Association Meets Hon’ble Ministers Purshottam Rupala and Piyush Goyal for the Import of Soya Meal

    New Delhi [India], August 3: A delegation from Poultry, Aqua & Shrimp Industry, Dairy led by Mr. Bahadur Ali, Chairman, All India Poultry Breeders Association, and MD IB Group had a meeting with Shri Piyush Goyal, Honourable Minister of Commerce & Industries and Food, Consumer affairs Govt of India & Hon’ble Minister Mr. Purshottam Rupala, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India at the Indian Parliament office to discuss the current crisis of Soya Meal shortage which is the most important Protein input for livestock (Dairy, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Poultry) feed.

    Mr. Ali and Mr. BM Rao the Chairman of the Poultry Association and Shrimp Feed miller’s Association respectively voiced the concern of “Indian livestock farmers are not able to feed their cattle, Poultry, Fishes & Shrimp stocks due to non-availability of feed. If GM Soya meal import is not permitted it will be a disaster to our livestock and will ruin the livelihood of our Indian livestock farmers.”

    Mr. Bahadur Ali, Chairman, All India Poultry Breeders Association and MD IB Group shared that Hon’ble Ministers were requested on behalf of the industry to cooperate in the import of GM soya meal for feeding poultry and livestock during the present crisis of soya availability.

    Hon’ble Minister Piyush Goyal consolidated the breeders association with a very positive response. He said, “Government is with farmers and understands the need of livestock industry’s demand”, also he assured all his support whereas, the Hon’ble Minister assured the industry that he would make available imported soya meals to the poultry farmers along with his office.

  • AirPets comes to the rescue of pet owner, saves cat from being deported to Russia

    The pet relocation experts helped bring an end to a five-day ordeal faced by a cat owner.

    New Delhi: AirPets Relocation Services, a leading pet shipping services provider, has come to the aid of an Indian pet owner by helping him deal with the bureaucratic red tape and preventing his pet cat from being deported to Russia.

    Rohit could get a negative RT-PCR test for Ufi after contacting a veterinary doctor, but he couldn’t get a NOC in the absence of the cat’s old vaccination records.

An Assistant Professor of History at the hallowed portals of Banaras Hindu University, Dr. Ashok Kumar Sonkar had a very humble beginning in the border region Paharia of Kashi. However, proving to be a living example of the adage “a man is a product of his environment but the strong man makes his own environment “he not only educated himself but also managed to teach at the same faculty where he got his education from.

    A good citizen anywhere around the world is both patriotic toward his country and committed to his beliefs. Good citizens are shaped and cultivated by the history, art, and literature of their motherland and invested in the success of their communities.

    Even when young and green behind the ears Dr. Ashok Kumar Sonkar was always thoughtful about the upliftment of his city and community. He actively advocated for the rights of the poor, uneducated, and Dalit community.     Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh happened to him as he felt that it is Sangh and Sangh alone that endeavors towards the preservation of age-old culture and diversity and rich heritage of India. The conclusion came from the test done at the anvil of his being a student and having profound knowledge of ancient Indian History.

    Today attaining a position of respect in the society has further emboldened Dr. Ashok Sonkar’s resolve to serve and to give back to the society he lives in. As a conscious citizen, he is continuously working towards bringing his very own Khatik community from Varanasi, Chandouli, and other nearby districts into the mainstream.

    He is not a mere spectator or a mute facilitator but an active doer who has his ears to the ground and feet firmly placed in reality. He has started an active campaign about cleaning and upkeep of the ponds and other water bodies of the city of Varanasi. Every week he devoted one day to this noble cause. And like a good teacher that he is, he sets an example by cleaning, maintaining the areas around the water bodies. His noble actions have motivated many to give back to society.

    The work of being a good citizen is never easy — it requires judgment, civility, and patience. When time and deliberations rise, laws are often amended to answer the needs of the people. In this contest, Dr. Ashok Sonkar believes that It is important to both obey the law and improve the law. Such reform should be done through acceptable means, with moral persuasion for the betterment of the whole.

    Dr. Ashok Sonkar stands tall as a good Samaritan and yet is never forgetful of his humble beginnings of the lowest of the lowest strata of society.  A much-loved teacher, a much-admired achiever, a well-respected member, a committed Sangh worker Dr, Ashok Sonkar continues to dedicate himself and his work for the good of his community and society as a whole.

    Rare are the people who protect and rejuvenate their environment selflessly, their deeds inspire may be very few but the dedication they bring says it all.
