Global Healthcare Advisor Vijay Dhawangale sharing his views on Epidemic Preparedness

New Delhi (India), December 26: The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed December 27 as the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness. This Resolution holds great significance, as it helps raise awareness for each individual, community, state, and the world on the importance, necessity, and urgency of the prevention of, preparedness for, and partnership against epidemics. Currently, people all over the world have been affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is the fifth pandemic after the 1918 flu pandemic.

Addressing a conference organized for its members by the Global Association for GSP on the eve of International Day of Epidemic Preparedness, Global Healthcare Advisor Vijay Dhawangale mentioned, “Pandemic preparedness is most effective if it is built on general principles that guide preparedness planning for any acute threat to public health”. To the extent possible, pandemic preparedness should aim to strengthen existing systems rather than develop new ones. He further added Pandemic response requires that business continuity plans and surge capacity plans be developed for the health sector and all other sectors that could be affected by a pandemic to ensure sustained capacity during a pandemic.

He also mentioned that Government took the right steps at the right time and proved its mettle in managing the pandemic in an effective way for a country having 1.39 billion population. From a situation of a single laboratory equipped to undertake testing for COVID in January, by the end of December, 2288 laboratories (as of 30th December 2020) were conducting COVID-19 Testing. Laboratories have been established in difficult terrains like Ladakh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland as well as other North Eastern states, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar island crossing 1.5 million tests a day, much higher than that stipulated by WHO, which were 140 tests per million population per day.

Addressing the association members for their preparedness, Vijay Dhawangale explained the importance of investing in technology and infrastructure to support remote work and virtual collaboration capabilities, assess their current bandwidth to support remote work, perform periodic network stress testing and identify workarounds for critical tasks that are not executable from home. It is worth noting that while remote working is a viable option for the service sector, it does not work for manufacturing, thus resulting in critical impacts on supply chains.

Pandemics are a public issue first and a business issue second. Hence, the public and private sectors must come together to provide an adequate and comprehensive response to a pandemic.

    Who is Vijay Dhawangale

Vijay Dhawangale is a philanthropist, mentor, successful entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and global healthcare advisor. Passionate about giving back to his community and the world, he is active in many local and global organizations. His model of Preventive Diagnostics Programs around the world involves deeper strategies for local and state-level implementation. The initiative provides a package of essential diagnostic services free of cost across all public health facilities using innovative, low-cost technology. He is particularly vocal about access to quality healthcare for all.

Tejas Joshi is a strategic planner and design thinker and the Founder of design consultancy firm SPACE ELEMENTS.

Ahmedabad, December 13: Magsaysay Award winner Dr Rajendra Singh, who is popularly known as the Waterman of India, has inducted Ahmedabad-based water professional Tejas Joshi into the advisory committee of the People’s World Commission on Drought and Flood (PWCDF).

Tejas Joshi, Founder and Managing Director of Ahmedabad-based design consultancy firm SPACE ELEMENTS, is inducted into the technical advisory committee of PWDCF at the World Water Conclave 2022, and held at Udaipur from December 8 to 10. It brought together academia, science, technology, traditional wisdom, civil society, community-led experience from diverse ecologies, and streams of knowledge to share, deliberate and co-create a path for drought and flood mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.

“It is indeed my honour and privilege to be included in the technical advisory committee of People’s World Commission on Drought and Flood by none other than Waterman Dr. Rajendra Singh. Dr. Singh has devoted his life and efforts to reducing the risks to lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems by building community resilience to extreme weather events such as droughts and floods through community-driven nature rejuvenation. We look forward to supporting his efforts and contributing to the critical tasks that lay ahead,” Tejas Joshi said.

Mr. Joshi was the only one from Gujarat who was invited to the World Water Conclave. He also had the opportunity to present a case study before a large gathering of water professionals, experts, academicians, and NGOs. The case study was about SPACE ELEMENTS’ initiative to mitigate draught and manage flood by designing the smart rainwater harvesting structures, which deals with scientific and technical study for an integrated water resource planning and design service.

“Dr. Singh is working to revive the Indian rivers, but it is a project that may take a very long time. We have proposed to offer our services, where we study the hydrology of the land to assess surface water for effectively enhancing groundwater reserves by flood analysis to compete the hydraulic circle while balancing the water element on the earth, where we collect information using space technologies. The confluence of traditional methods and new technologies can help in reducing the project timelines by a long way. This is critical considering the worsening water crises the world is experiencing. Dr. Singh liked by proposal and scientific approach and has assured to take it ahead when we meet next,” said Mr. Joshi.

PWCDF was established during World Water Week in Stockholm in September 2022 under the chairmanship of Dr Singh. It hopes to bridge the gaps between research, knowledge, policy, and community action by bringing together communities, scientists, engineers, technocrats, environmentalists, ecologists, social activists, hydrologists, youth, and other stakeholders to reduce the impact of droughts and floods and build resilience at ground level.

New Delhi, December 13: Shooter Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil is a man who is the pride of the nation. Not only does the current world champion and world No one obsess over it, the word almost puts him in a meditative state. Patil’s obsession with ‘process’ is par for the course in a brutally individual sport that measures perfection to cold decimal points.

Superintendent  Of Police Palghar Balasaheb Patil

Expressing his jubilation at Rudrankksh’s gold, Balasaheb Patil said, “I would like to tell my son to perform better and bring another gold medal for India in the next Olympics. Hemangini Patil on the historic win of the Gold Medal

Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, the Reigning world champion, has put the icing on the cake by winning gold in the 10m air rifle men’s event at the prestigious season-ending International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President’s Cup. The young lad, two weeks shy of his 19th birthday, beat familiar Italian foe and world number one Danilo Solazzo 16-8 in the gold medal match in Cairo. Rudrankksh had qualified for the top eight ranking round with a brilliant 632.1, which gave him third place in the 14-man field. He then topped his four-man ranking round with a score of 211.7, which was a massive 2.8 points ahead of Hungary’s former world number one, Istvan Peni, who finished second.

Rudrankksh’s next challenge was Tokyo Olympics finalist Patrik Jany of Slovakia, whom he beat 16-10 to set up the title clash with Danilo. Rudrankksh had given his sensational form and did not give Danilo a whiff of a chance in the final, hitting high 10s consistently to close the match out clinically. He hit the lowest 10.0, with as many as two scores of the perfect 10.9 in a display of high-class rifle shooting.

When I received the gold medal on the podium, I didn’t think it had sunk in. It was surreal, even though it was a moment I had thought about for so long. It has given me the confidence to win different finals in the future.”I wouldn’t be here without my parents because of the sacrifices they have taken me to train, competitions and everything else.”I couldn’t have done it without them, which is why I dedicated my gold medal to my mum and dad.” Behind every athlete is a proud parent

CHF, a Pan-India, non-profit organization, completed 12 successful years of serving society

Mumbai, December 12: Child Help Foundation (CHF), a pan-India, non-profit organization, celebrated its 12th Foundation Day on 19th November 2022. Founded in 2010 by Mr. Rajendra Pathak, Mr. Sunil Varghese and Mr. Jugender Singh, Child Help Foundation propagates the ‘culture of giving’ with the mission of changing lives through reaching out to underprivileged children and empowering them for a bright future for the last 12 years. The NGO has been consistently working to uplift the underprivileged and weaker sections of society.

The first few projects initiated by the founding members were related to Quality Education and Water and Sanitation for children. The aim of the programs was to provide equal opportunities for quality education and basic sanitation facilities to underprivileged children in India. Quality Education has to date, benefited 4,71,958 children across India, while the Water and Sanitation program has helped 93,093 people.

After the success of the first few programs, the NGO expanded its work into other areas and initiated programs like:

    • Emergency Medical Support to help underprivileged children with medical treatments, surgeries and transplants. Under this initiative, the NGO has to date, helped 2,687 children across India.
    • Gender Equality program which serves to cater to the needs of all genders and to support the government’s steps to create a gender-inclusive environment. In alignment with the national program Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, a special emphasis is given to the education of girl children to enable them to become empowered citizens.
    • Zero Hunger Program was adopted for the fight against hunger by providing nutritious food to the underprivileged. Under this program, the Child Help Foundation has served 17,83,657 meals till November 2022.
    • Under the Humanitarian Relief and Rehabilitation program, 11,01,606 people have benefited across India.
    • Feeding stray animals was undertaken as a part of the UN SDG Life on Land. It took shape as an initiative specially adopted to take care of the animals and become the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’. Till now, CHF has helped 56,632 stray animals across India.
    • Adopting the UN SDG – Life Below Water, Child Help Foundation regularly conducts Beach Clean-Up Drives to restore marine and coastal biodiversity. Through this program, around 2 crore marine lives have been saved, and 6,91,790 kgs of waste have been collected.

There are many other initiatives that the NGO conducts to help the needy across India. CHF is nationally recognized for inspiring and empowering people to come together and bring positive change in the lives of children and society at large.

On the occasion of the 12th Anniversary of the Child Help Foundation (CHF), one of the Trustees, Mr. Rajendra Pathak, said, “As trustees, we have seen the foundation develop into what it is today. I remember, during our first project of ‘The Naigaon Zila Parishad School, in Maharashtra’ there were no benches or proper study materials for the underprivileged students who belonged to the fishing community in the school. The floor would get damp during monsoons. Looking at this condition, we provided benches, study materials, uniforms, and food to help and support the students. It was just the beginning of our journey. Since then, we have implemented projects in 26 states and union territories in India. In addition to that, we have initiated projects at the international level too”.

He further added, “I would like to thank the youth of this generation who are so much aware of the social conditions and are actively participating as volunteers. They are contributing time and effort while other sections of society are contributing in the form of resources. Despite numerous challenges, the team, volunteers, and donors enabled us to help the needy. We want to take this opportunity to extend gratitude to each person who has contributed to this foundation and request their support and blessings in the coming years too”.

The significant changes that Child Help Foundation has brought to society were not easy for the founders and the team members of the NGO. Every good cause needs a lot of dedication and commitment while working your way through the various hurdles that one faces. For an NGO, finding the right kind of people with the same determination and motivation to do something for society has always been a challenge. In situations like natural calamities, it becomes even more challenging to find the resources as per the requirement and reach out to the needy in remote areas to execute the activities. But with the right attitude, the team has always found people who are like-minded and have the same enthusiasm for social causes, and these are the people who bring real change in society.

Also, the support of Government schemes and portals like NITI Ayog and Darpan helps the foundation to register and apply for grants under various schemes of Ministries, Departments of Government bodies and enables the foundation to reach out to lakhs of families and individuals.

Speaking on occasion, Mr. Shaji Varghese, CEO and spokesperson of Child Help Foundation, said, “I would like to begin with a big thank you to everyone who has helped us in our mission and in making our NGO complete 12 successful years. I, along with my entire team, feel so proud that over the past 12 years, Child Help Foundation has brought so many positive changes in the lives of people across India. The joy of seeing the priceless smiles on the faces of millions of people inspires us to work even harder. We believe that our organization, which was founded on the principles of hard work, commitment, and kindness to support and provide health, education, better life, and overall wellness, is being efficiently achieved. There is still a long way to go, but we are confident that with the dedication and support from people, we will have a wonderful journey ahead”.

During the tough times of COVID-19 lockdowns, CHF never sat back. The volunteers assisted the Frontline Workers and provided them with sanitation kits, PPE Kits, sanitisers, masks, and ration kits. More than 7 lakh people were served nutritious food, and thousands of stray animals were taken care of during lockdown across the country.

Amongst the various programs, there is a Village Development program, where CHF provides training to people and empowers them with skills to carry-on small-scale businesses and become independent. Child Help Foundation has also tied up with various hospitals across India to establish Baby Feeding Centre for lactating mothers. The NGO has launched Baby Feeding Centres at railway stations in many locations across India to provide working mothers with a safe and secure place to feed their babies.

In the month of October 2022, the foundation conducted Daan Utsav, where the volunteers distributed food and other necessary items to the needy for their everyday living. They are also successfully running the ‘Swastha se Shiksa Tak’ campaign to help children suffering from serious medical conditions and provide support to their education.

Reaching out to 33 lakh beneficiaries has been a tough task, but in these 12 years, the Child Help Foundation was able to achieve it. The NGO has won many awards for its impeccable work for society. The awards won are ‘Best Health Care NGO’ of the year 2018, ‘CMO Asia’s NGO Excellence Awards for Social Consciousness NGO Leadership and Excellence,’ ‘Mahatma Award for Social Good and Impact’ at Mahatma Award 2022, National Awards 2021 for ‘Best Covid-19 NGO for Community,’ ‘Best NGO for Education for Girl Child,’ ‘Best NGO of the Year-2022’ at the Indian CSR Awards among many more.

    Read Time:3 Minute, 18 Second

Mumbai, December 10: Renowned social media star, Saira Sattani, became a significant member of the Dhadak Kamgar Union on Nov 8, 2022. She has been appointed as the Maharashtra Vice President of the Women’s Wing of Dhadak Kamgar Union under the chairmanship of the union’s General Secretary, Abhijeet Rane.

Blue-collar workers endure a lot of unfairness in the corporate world, but not many people care about and fight for them. Abhijeet Rane is a pioneer in grievance redressal for blue-collar workers, also known as manual laborers. He has always been at the forefront of the war against the exploitation of these laborers by being the Founder & General Secretary of the Dhadak Kamgar Union.

Abhijeet Rane launched the labor union several years ago as a crusade against injustice, exploitation, and malpractices in business, industry, and labor-oriented organizations. He is also a successful businessman, besides being a rising star in Marathi journalism, who strives to solve the problems of blue-collar workers with the power of the pen.

A well-known Youtuber, content creator, and TikTok star, Saira Sattani has been famous through social media since last 2016. But, her greatest role is that of being a loving mother to two sons and two daughters, who mean the world to her. Saira also has a network of various businesses like property investment and share market.

The availability of food became a major issue during the lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic. In such a difficult time, Saira lent a helping hand to Bengali workers stuck in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area by making food, ration and money available to them through just one follower’s message.

Abhijeet Rane has been acquainted with Saira Sattani for just a few days. But, he is farsighted and has a deep understanding of people who are dedicated towards their work as well as towards serving society. It is this that led to the appointment of Saira Sattani as Maharashtra Vice President of the Women’s Wing of Dhadak Kamgar Union, a significant position that has a lot of responsibility attached to it.

Abhijeet Rane welcomed the joining of Saira Sattani to the Dhadak Kamgar Union as well as her appointment saying, “I only knew her for a few days. I came to know her only after my birthday, which was on. I have seen her efforts to do something for society and the seriousness she has towards her work. So I am confident that she will definitely do something for society through this new responsibility.”

In these modern times, social media plays a key role in the growth of any business or organization. The joining of Saira Sattani is expected to help Dhadak Kamgar Union grow significantly. This would further help Abhijeet Rane ease the pain of blue-collar workers for whom he established the labor union.

On her part, Saira Sattani is grateful to Abhijeet Rane, through whom she had the privilege of joining the Dhadak Kamgar Union. She values her appointment as Maharashtra Vice President of the Women’s Wing of the labor union and has already committed to taking the union forward through her sincere efforts and honesty.

Expressing her gratitude to Abhijit Rane, Saira Sattani said, “This is for the first time I have been associated with any organization, and it was possible only under the guidance of Hon labor leader Abhijit Rane sir. I will keep working to promote the Dhadak labor union through my hard work and honesty.”

The occasion had the presence of a number of dignitaries, including Saira Pathan, Sania Khan, Neetu Borale, Kusum Nair, Shabnam Pathan, Razia Sheikh, Noori Khan, Naved Khan, Shamim Sheikh, and Riyaz Celia. Website: www.dhadakkamgarunion.in

RACE Eco Chain’s ‘UDAAN’ witnessed the participation of waste dealers from across 28 states of India.

Goa (India), November 18: M/s RACE Eco Chain Limited, headquartered in Noida organized India’s first ever PET Recycling Dealer Meet codenamed ‘UDAAN’ at Goa between 12th and 14th Nov 2022. The high-performing and high-potential dealers engaged in collecting and processing Recyclable PET (r-PET) got invited from across India on an all-paid-up business trip at Kenilworth Hotel and Resort situated in North Goa.

RACE Eco Chain Ltd. started its journey two years ago in waste management services with just 5 dealers that grew into 350+ dealers in a short span of time. It plans to grow this network to tap potential dealers in every district of the country in the coming 6 to 8 months. The company also has a mission to increase its market share in the r-PET Supply Chain to transact one lakh tons of r-PET per annum in the next 2 quarters.

UDAAN witnessed spirited participation from the dealers and received an overwhelming response to further the vision of RACE in organizing this unorganized waste management sector into a proclaimed industry that brings formidable revenue to States and centers through r-PET transactions involving the highest GST slab of 18%.

Under the presence of eminent personalities from the industry, the Promotors Mr. Dinesh Pareekh & Mrs. Sangeeta Pareekh along with the Managing Director Mr. Sunil Malik of RACE Eco Chain Ltd., awarded 30 R-PET Dealers for their exemplary performance in the area of consistency, quality, volumes and symbiotic partnership. RACE Eco Chain also launched a social initiative in name of ASSET – Abhay Sponsorship on skill development and education for tomorrow.

The Event revolved around the contemporary theme of ESG (Environment Social Governance) with a prime focus to make this industry future ready. It encompassed the important elements of Technology adoption including Artificial Intelligence (AI), compliance including documentation and social governance, Mutual growth, Value-added products, Sustainability and Traceability.

The two-day program was a mix of business and entertainment with a nicely crafted agenda ranging from a Business Conference, Gala night, Awards and Accolades, Question-Answers, Beach party, Music and Dance and Poolside discussions with high tea.

RACE Parivar’s corporate song depicting unity and prosperity was also launched at the UDAAN event. The famous heartthrob singer and first Indian idol Mr. Abhijeet Sawant performed at the event to make the environment musical through his melodious songs. He proudly appreciated and associated himself with the vision of the company to recognize the contribution, importance and status of dealers engaged in the sustainability cause and strongly supported the Green Initiative of RACE Eco Chain Ltd.

UDAAN emphasized the magnanimity, future growth potential and importance of the r-PET industry to justify why the waste industry is called the sunrise industry offering repute and financial growth to the fragmented waste collectors and dealers right up to the lowest end of the value chain.

All dealers praised the event in one voice and offered their valuable association in strengthening the RACE Parivaar through their unconditional support as one big family. With the success of this event, RACE is now ready to take another big leap to rise and shine like the North Star on the horizon.
