Smita Thackeray Empowers Future Through School Kit Distribution

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 7: On July 3rd, noted social worker Smita Thackeray visited Vesave Vidya Mandir (Marathi Medium) school as part of her foundation’s ongoing commitment to education and community welfare. Through her NGO, Mukkti Foundation, Thackeray distributed essential educational supplies to the students, blending her passion for education with grassroots social service.

Under the ‘Gyaan Daan’ initiative, school children received uniforms, PT Uniforms, Shoes, notebooks, and textbooks. The aim was to equip them with the necessary resources to start the academic year with confidence and enthusiasm.

Speaking about the initiative, Smita Thackeray said, “Education is true empowerment. When children are provided with the right tools and opportunities, their confidence grows, and they can become beacons of hope for society. It brings me immense joy to see the happiness on their faces. For real women’s empowerment, it is crucial that young girls receive quality education in a safe and nurturing environment.”

She further emphasized that the innocent smiles on children’s faces are the most rewarding moments for anyone engaged in social work. Having visited several schools over the years, Smita Thackeray has consistently worked towards improving educational infrastructure and supporting underprivileged students. Under her leadership, Mukkti Foundation has undertaken initiatives such as adopting schools, renovating them, and regularly distributing educational and utility supplies to those in need — efforts that will continue in the future.

Spending time with children and celebrating birthdays with them is something Thackeray holds close to her heart. She has, in the past, celebrated her birthday with HIV-positive children, offering them love, warmth, and support. Mukkti Foundation remains dedicated to driving social transformation in key areas such as education, health, arts, and women’s empowerment.

In addition to her philanthropic work, Smita Thackeray currently serves as the Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Film Policy Committee. She has also recently launched the “Aao Bhook Mitayo” campaign, a food donation drive aimed at feeding the underprivileged.

During her visit on July 3rd, Smita Thackeray personally interacted with the students of Vesave Vidya Mandir, offering words of encouragement and best wishes for their academic journey and future growth.

  • “India Was, Is, And Will Remain A Maritime Nation”: Naval Chief Inspires Future Leaders At IIM Rohtak

“India Was, Is, And Will Remain A Maritime Nation”: Naval Chief Inspires Future Leaders At IIM Rohtak

Rohtak  (Haryana) [India], July 1: Indian Institute of Management Rohtak organised the Induction and Orientation ceremony for the 16th batch of its Post Graduate Programme on 28th June 2025. The event was graced by Chief Guest Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Hon’ble Justice Jain, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana, along with faculty members of the Institute. The incoming cohort includes 329 students from the PGP Batch 16 and 8 DPM-13 scholars.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, in his address to the students of IIM Rohtak, emphasised India’s deep-rooted maritime identity, tracing its origins to the ancient Harappan port city of Lothal, over 6,000 years ago. Declaring that “India was, is, and will always remain a maritime nation,” he underscored the strategic significance of the seas in India’s past, present, and future. With 95% of the nation’s trade by volume traversing maritime routes and 99% of global internet data flowing through undersea cables, he stressed that India’s journey toward becoming ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 will be powered significantly by maritime strength. Highlighting the Indian Navy’s critical role in protecting these lifelines, he cited recent operations that saved over 400 lives and secured cargo worth more than USD 5.3 billion amidst crises in West Asia. He also noted the Navy’s role as a first responder during the 2025 Myanmar earthquake, reinforcing its position as a humanitarian force in the region. Transitioning to the second part of his address, Admiral Tripathi shared five key leadership lessons from his four-decade career: first, the importance of reading, writing, and reflecting as a means to develop clarity, judgment, and deeper understanding; second, the value of teamwork, stressing that collective success depends on mutual trust and collaboration; third, the essence of leadership, which he defined as empowering others, communicating effectively, taking risks, delegating wisely, and always thinking ahead; fourth, the necessity of sound decision-making, particularly under pressure—a skill critical in both naval command and business leadership; and fifth, the need for resilience, urging students to never give up, as adversity is inevitable but surmountable with self-belief and perseverance. In closing, Admiral Tripathi advised students to take their duties seriously while remaining humble and grounded, reminding them that humility, gratitude, and compassion are vital attributes of lasting leadership. Concluding with a powerful quote from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he urged students to “dream, dare, and deliver,” inspiring them to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to India’s future. His address was received with great enthusiasm and appreciation from both students and faculty.

Justice Jain, Judge at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, delivered an inspiring address that urged students to look beyond the boundaries of textbooks and rote learning. He shared his ‘4R’ mantra: Read, Research, Reflect, and Revisit, encouraging students to go beyond superficial learning and truly engage with knowledge by revisiting concepts, participating in discussions, and applying their understanding in real-world contexts. Justice Jain reminded students that true resilience lies not in never falling, but in rising stronger each time.

Professor Dheeraj Sharma, Director, IIM Rohtak, set the context by outlining the Institute’s vision for management education rooted in purpose, discipline, and national service. He elaborated on IIM Rohtak’s pedagogy of case-based teaching, the rural engagement programme, a strong industry interface, and a focus on yoga and holistic well-being. He emphasized the importance of self-discipline, critical thinking, and responsibility as non-negotiable traits of effective leadership. Drawing from his observations on human behaviour, he reflected on the need for consistency in conduct and urged students to continuously question, learn, and evolve in their leadership journey. He stated that the youth of the nation is most important for India’s VIKSIT BHARAT mission.

Building on these reflections around leadership and responsibility, Lt. Gen. Balbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), brought a new perspective grounded in the realities of military service. He delivered an insightful address highlighting the enduring values that shape exemplary leaders. Emphasizing that qualities like courage, discipline, and perseverance are not merely desirable traits but foundational pillars of leadership, he shared how these principles guide action in the face of uncertainty.

Panel discussions on “Expected Competencies of Management Graduates in Today’s Business Landscape” and “Leadership in the Age of AI” featured insights from seven distinguished leaders representing renowned companies across diverse sectors. As part of its continued efforts to promote intellectual engagement and policy-oriented research, the Institute organized an Essay Writing Competition 2025 for doctoral scholars across the nation on the theme “Contribution of the Indian Armed Forces: Pillars of National Security and Pride.” Four winners were announced for cash prizes ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹25,000.

Continuing this theme of reflection, Professor Sharma also launched his latest book, Power of Movies, during the ceremony. The book, rooted in the idea that life—much like cinema—unfolds in episodes, invites readers to explore how films reflect the evolving dynamics of society. He encouraged students to observe how cinema goes beyond entertainment to mirror the complexities of the human condition. By engaging critically with films, students can begin to understand the deeper values, emotions, and contradictions that shape individual and collective experiences. Through this launch, Professor Sharma reinforced the importance of thoughtful observation and reflection in developing a more nuanced understanding of the world.

  • From a Small Town in Assam to the Big 4: Vicky Baruah’s Incredible MBA Journey At Kaziranga University

From a Small Town in Assam to the Big 4: Vicky Baruah’s Incredible MBA Journey At Kaziranga University

New Delhi [India], June 27: Jorhat-born Vicky Baruah has become an inspiring name among those pursuing an MBA course in assam, thanks to his placement in PwC—one of the Big 4 firms—through the Assam Kaziranga University. But behind this milestone lies a story of perseverance, purpose, and pride—shaped by struggle, fuelled by dreams, and fulfilled by determination.

A Childhood Shaped by Loss, and a Life Inspired by Love

Raised in Jorhat, the cultural capital of Assam, Vicky attributes much of his confidence to the spirit of his hometown. “What I love most is the simplicity of life and the strong sense of community,” he reflects. “Jorhat will always have a special place in my heart—it will keep me grounded and remind me of who I am.”

    But life tested him early.

Vicky lost his father, a retired Indian Army personnel, when he was just in Class 3. From then on, it was his mother who stood tall, taking full charge of the family. “Despite the challenges, my mother ensured my brother and I received quality education,” he shares, his voice filled with gratitude and pride.

Watching his mother battle odds instilled a fire in Vicky—not just to succeed, but to give back. “I always dreamed of making her smile in ways life didn’t allow her to,” he says.

Strength, in Every Sense of the Word

That fire translated into discipline, drive—and physical strength.

In 2022, Vicky was crowned NPC Mr. Jorhat in the Men’s Physique category. A year later, he bagged the Gold Medal in Powerlifting at the All Assam Iron Games Association. “I could see the pride in her eyes,” he recalls, “but I knew I still had more to do.”

That moment finally came when he shared the news of his placement at PwC. “She had happy tears in her eyes. And I knew then, I had made her proud—not just as a son, but as a man she raised with resilience.”

A Journey Fueled by Purpose and Preparation

For students enrolled in an MBA course in assam, Vicky’s placement journey at the Assam Kaziranga University (KU)  is a reminder that preparation, patience, and self-belief are key to cracking top placements. While many faced multiple interviews and rejections, he sat for only one company—PwC.

“The waiting period before the drive was stressful,” he admits. “Watching others get placed while wondering when my chance would come led to self-doubt. But I kept going—focusing on my preparation, refining my resume, and staying interview-ready.”

The moment he saw his name on the final placement list, it was nothing short of magical. “Relief, joy, gratitude—it all came rushing in,” he says. “It reaffirmed that patience, consistency, and belief in yourself truly pay off.”

Stepping into PwC: The Real-World Experience

Now a Tax Associate at PwC, Vicky is thriving in a role that once seemed daunting.

“Initially, I had doubts—about adapting to the corporate environment, matching the pace, and meeting expectations,” he confesses. “But the support from my seniors and the inclusive work culture helped me settle in smoothly.”

He finds excitement in the exposure to modern tools and technologies central to tax-related work. “It’s been an enriching experience—professionally and personally.”

Words of Wisdom for Future MBAs

Vicky is now an inspiration. Whether you’re pursuing an MBA course in assam or elsewhere, these tips can help you stay focused and job-ready during placement season.

His advice is, “Start early, stay steady, and show up prepared.”

Here are his key tips for acing campus placements:

Start early. Begin your prep 4–5 months in advance. Consistent effort over time helps reduce stress and builds confidence.

Know your basics. Master the core concepts of your specialization. Strong fundamentals help you tackle complex questions with ease.

Research companies. Understand each company’s work, values, and recent developments. It shows interest and sets you apart.

Tailor your resume. Keep it crisp, clear, and focused on achievements relevant to the role.

Practice interviews. Do mock interviews with seniors, faculty, or online platforms to improve your clarity and confidence.

Work on soft skills. Communication, confidence, and body language matter. A good personality can leave a lasting impression.

Stay updated. Follow current affairs and trends in your domain to show awareness and industry readiness.

Learn from failure. Rejections are part of the process. Take feedback, improve, and keep moving forward.

A Life Beyond the Offer Letter

Vicky’s story is not just about getting placed—it’s about rising after loss, dreaming despite doubt, and honouring every sacrifice that made this success possible.

“Doing an MBA course in assam from the Assam Kaziranga University is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” he smiles. “I owe a big thank you—for the platform, the mentorship, the KU CDPC Cell, and the belief they had in me.”

Today, Vicky Baruah is more than just a PwC employee. He’s a symbol of what resilience, roots, and relentless passion can create.

“Because when dreams are backed by strength and guided by purpose, placement is just the beginning.”

  • ESCP Business School announces the opening of a School of Technology and a School of Governance

ESCP Business School announces the opening of a School of Technology and a School of Governance

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 24: ESCP Business School has officially launched its new strategic plan for 2026-2030: Bold & United. The plan centres on a simple but urgent truth: success in today’s disrupted world requires more than business acumen. It demands hybrid skills that cross boundaries between disciplines, cultures and sectors.

ESCP becomes the first European University of Management

To deliver on this vision, by 2030 ESCP Business School will be strengthened by two new schools: the ESCP School of Technology and the ESCP School of Governance.  This marks a decisive step in ESCP’s evolution—from the world’s first business school to the first European University of Management—and reaffirms its academic ambition, social mission and global reach.

    • ESCP Business School, the historic core, will continue to deliver academic excellence through its flagship degrees and programmes in management, finance, marketing, sustainability and entrepreneurship.
    • ESCP School of Technology (2027) will address the growing need for leaders who are fluent in digital transformation, AI, data analysis, and emerging technologies.
    • ESCP School of Governance (2029) will focus on geopolitics, public affairs, international law, and strategy—training a new generation of leaders to navigate complexity and global shifts with foresight and accountability.

Within this model, ESCP Business School remains the academic heart of the institution and its principal engine for excellence and international recognition.

By 2030, ESCP Business School aims to:

    • Enroll over 12,000 students representing 150+ nationalities
    • Employ 300 professors from 50 countries and achieve full gender parity
    • Reach €300M in revenue with sustainable operations
    • Continue to rank in the Top 5 of the Financial Times European Business School ranking

“In an age of profound transformation, where agility, inclusion and responsibility are no longer optional but imperative, ESCP stands as a bold and united force in management education. Our 2026–2030 strategic plan is not just a roadmap—it is a collective manifesto shaped by the voices of thousands across our community. This is our commitment: to nurture leaders who shape society with empathy, ethics and excellence,” said Léon Laulusa, Executive President & Dean of ESCP Business School.

Expanding with purpose & inclusion through a €320 million investment plan

This expansion will be supported by an investment of €320 million to transform ESCP’s campuses into future-ready ecosystems. ESCP will develop new programmes, such as a Global Master in Management (in partnership with CEIBS) and launch at least four new MSc degrees including one in Business in the Space Industry, as well as expand its Extension School for lifelong learners.

The institution is also growing its €9M scholarship fund (approximately 5% of the School’s revenue), thanks to the synergy of ESCP alumni, Foundation, and School.

Research and technology will continue to play a central role, guided by ESCP’s five interdisciplinary research institutes (LIGhTS) on topics from sustainability to geopolitics, and enhanced by the School’s pioneering use of AI—including the integration of ChatGPT Edu licenses across all levels of the school.

ESCP is deepening academic ties with India

After Dean Léon Laulusa’s visit to India in March 2025, ESCP is also opening a new chapter with IIT Madras and IIT Bombay. These collaborations will focus on student and faculty exchange, joint research, and integration of emerging technologies in areas such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship.

ESCP’s connection with India dates back to 1985 through its first partnership with IIM Ahmedabad, now enriched by active collaborations with IIM Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, and SPJIMR. In 2024–2025, ESCP Business School welcomed 608 Indian students. India is the third-largest country of origin among the student body, after France (39% of students) and Italy (18% of students).

ESCP Business School was founded in 1819, making it the world’s oldest business school. Throughout its 200-year history, ESCP has remained committed to educating accountable, bold and creative leaders who launch trends, bring new solutions and initiate the codes of tomorrow.

ESCP’s six campuses in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Turin and Warsaw are the stepping stones that allow students to experience ESCP’s European approach to management grounded in multiculturalism.

Every year, ESCP welcomes 11,000+ students and 6,000 managers from 136 different nationalities. Its strength lies in its many business training programmes, both general and specialised (Bachelor, Master, MBA, Executive MBA, PhD and Executive Education), all of which include a multi-campus experience.

With innovation as our cornerstone, we are accelerating academic research and business education to forge new pathways for a better future for all.

    It all starts here.
