UW–Madison’s exceptional graduate of winter ’21 Beatboxes in his speech

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 9: Jai Khanna, 22, born and raised in Mumbai, India, became the very first Indian student to speak at the winter commencement of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Jai used beatboxing in his commencement speech and delivered a huge applaud winning message on‘Living life in the moment’, relevant to the times we live in. The University of Wisconsin–Madison is the highest ranking national public university and fourth overall in Washington Monthly’s 2021 College Guide and Rankings.

“The University of Wisconsin-Madison prides itself on being a global university with students from more than 120 countries. We are fortunate when talented students just like Jai Khanna choose to spend their time at our institution. Jai has proven himself to be a talented leader and impressive student. I was fortunate to be able to spend a little over a year working with Jai on the campus Student Covid Advisory Board. This group provided suggestions and feedback on the campus approach to the COVID pandemic. Jai’s connections to many different students’ groups allowed him to bring a unique perspective to our discussions. As demonstrated in his role as our winter 2021 Commencement Student Speaker Jai is compelling and is living his life with passion and purpose. That is exactly the type of students we are seeking to put out into the world. I am proud that Jai will be representing the University of Wisconsin-Madison now as a Badger alumnus!”, says Argyle Wade, PhD, Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

“Living life in the moment,”is a lesson that proud Badger, Jai Khanna, was forced to learn during the pandemic. When COVID-19 struck in March 2020, Jai decided to stay back in Madison to wrap up a few projects instead of quickly booking a flight back home. However, by the time reality sunk in, borders had closed. The difficult and uncertain times also paved way for Jai to do more at the UW–Madison.

According to Christina Olstad, Dean of Students, University of Wisconsin-Madison, “Jai Khanna served as an integral member of the Dean of Students Advisory Committee, a group of faculty, staff and students providing guidance, feedback and insight to the Dean of Students.  Jai is passionate about advocating for the needs of international students and creating a welcoming and inclusive campus community.”

As he negotiated difficult times, Khanna was tapped to serve on the COVID-19 Student Advisory Board, where his experiences provided invaluable insights to campus leaders as they charted a path forward for campus. The senior class officers also selected Jai to give remarks on behalf of the class of 2021 at the winter commencement ceremony, making him the first Indian to do so. Jai also made it to the Chancellor’s list of UW–Madison’s exceptional graduates of winter 2021. In the 4 years at UW–Madison, Jai completed 5 internships in 3 countries — India, the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates.

“It was Jai’s sheer determination, passion and commitment towards achieving his goals that made this possible. He has overcome many hurdles that came his way during the last few years and it was a proud moment to watch our son, the first Indian, speak on behalf of his entire batch at the graduation”, says Jai’s father, Mr Sanjay Khanna, Advisor at The Royal Commission for Riyadh City.

At UW–Madison, Jai was involved in multicultural student organizations, including Aa Dekhen Zara, an annual South Asian Dance competition hosted by UW–Madison students, and the Wisconsin School of Bhangra, one of the premier dance groups on campus. He also participated in the Wisconsin School of Bhangra as both a dancer and a group manager.Through all four years on campus, Jai served on the Student Advisory Committee for the Dean of Students Office.Jai brought long-established leadership skills and an international perspective to his time at UW–Madison — a combination that enriched campus and led to multiple accomplishments.

  • Puneet Chadha to play for Hero I-League after successful comeback as pro footballer

Puneet Chadha to play for Hero I-League after successful comeback as pro footballer

February 9: When the going gets tough, the tough gets going, which is true about professional footballer, Puneet Chadha. After making a successful comeback to professional football, the 27-year-old is now looking to play for the Hero I-league. His love for the sport can be seen from the fact that he continues to strive in his struggle to make a great career in football.

As a kid, Puneet Chadha was always into different sports, which is what his mother wanted. He took up swimming as his first sport before moving to cricket. In fact, Puneet was kind of serious with cricket and played at a decent level. He then started playing football and got coached by his school coach. That is when Puneet realized that football was the only sport that he loved.

Puneet’s football journey started when he was in the Jamnabai Narsee school. During his 9th grade in the school, when Puneet went for football trials he got picked in the second best team. But, not getting to play even one game in the entire season demotivated Puneet and he did not go for trials the following year. Puneet got picked when he gave trials again in his 11th grade. As there was one team in the 11th and 12th, Puneet thought he might get an opportunity to play. But he did not until the last tournament.

That was the tournament of the year which was hosted by Puneet’s school for teams across India. His team was playing great and eventually won the tournament because of the winning goal that Puneet made. That kicked off his football career.

In 2012, Puneet started Lokhandwala Football Club his own Football club. From 2012 to 2016, he played for various Mumbai clubs which play for the city’s top division and trained with Air India. Puneet even trained with ISL as well as I league clubs, but did not get a contract from them. He finally increased focus on his game, after his club closed in 2016.

In 2017, Puneet went to Czech Republic for a trial with a 3rd division club. The experience Puneet got was something that helped him grow in his career. He was also offered a contract by the club. But, Puneet rejected the offer, as it was not large enough for even survival.

He then returned from Czech and took a long break from football. But the love of the sport never let him exit the race. Puneet then went for different trials, but got rejected in all of them. And although he was feeling low at the time, Puneet did not change his daily training routine. He finally got an opportunity at AU Rajatsan FC in 2020 which played for I league 2nd division.

During training sessions the coach started liking Puneet’s game and he eventually was going to get to play his first game of the season. Puneet then returned Mumbai, as the league got canceled. Because he didn’t play a single game in 2019-2020 football season no club wanted to take Puneet for 2020-2021 football season. As a result he had to train the entire year without a team. Puneet then started learning new things in life and one of them was stock market in which he started spending more time. Puneet’s life was now completely changed, but he still loved football.

Puneet says, “Your love for the sport shows when you don’t have a club but still train. In your head you know that no matter how hard you train you won’t play a professional game cause you don’t have a club. But you still train cause you love the sport and an athlete never gives up. Till the time you’ve told yourself you want to keep playing the sport as a professional you have to keep fighting, you have to keep training.”

His internal strength, self-confidence, and trust in God bore fruit one day when Puneet got a call from Rajastan United FC for a trial. He made it to the team as the trial went well. Puneet’s life changed once again and that marked his comeback to professional football.

He says, “I am thankful to RUFC for giving me this opportunity ,to believe in myself. I will give my everything to the club and make sure the club reaches new heights. One thing that I have learnt from my journey till now is that you have to focus on the things that are in your control and leave the rest on God. I am blessed to be a professional footballer and won’t take anything for granted.”

Puneet Chadha now wants to play for the Hero I-league and represent India, which is the dream of every athlete.

Puneet is grateful to Almighty God as well as his family for their support. He says, “I wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of my family. I am fortunate to have that.”

Puneet really has a bright future and a long way to go.

  • Fluctuating indoor humidity levels responsible for the spread of Covid-19 viruses!

Fluctuating indoor humidity levels responsible for the spread of Covid-19 viruses!

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 8: Do you know the indoor air quality too dry or too high in humidity in our homes, hospitals, offices, schools and other indoor spaces are the serious cause of concern for the transmission of the Covid-19 viruses? Lower air quality, with an imbalance of Relative Humidity (RH) levels, weakens the immune system, making people susceptible to getting infected.

Understanding the role of RH in the droplet spread of deadly disease, research analysts and indoor air quality experts at AMFAH India have developed an innovative technology that could aid in reducing the chances of transmissions, particularly in the indoor environment. Understanding the role of relative humidity in the droplet spread of diseases has helped them develop preventive measures that could aid in reducing the chance of transmission, particularly in indoor environment. The self-cleaning process of their innovation works best at a minimum humidity of 40 to 60% RH and is able to remove viruses from the body quickly.

At a time when the schools in the country are reopening and a large section of children are yet to be vaccinated, parents are a worried lot. According to the survey, around 36% of parents who have children attending school said that classes do not have good air ventilation, 41% of them have children who have their lunch indoors, which, the survey noted, puts them at a higher risk of getting infected with Covid-19. Why only schools, with people resuming offices and other such indoor set-ups being in more demand, the need for quality ventilation and good air quality indoors is the need of the hour.

Even Dr Shashank Joshi, task force member, Maharashtra state and leading endocrinologist has re-iterated the significance of controlling indoor air quality as an additional yet important aspect of breaking the chain in the air itself apart from the COVID appropriate behaviour which every human being has to get ingrained.

“It is a known fact that viral infections are easily transmitted when many people are in proximity to one another. However, it is Indoor Air that is too dry or too high in humidity that increases the risk of transmission as well as the survival of viruses. Transmission is most common in close range via droplets and airborne aerosols. We studied the scientific role of Ventilation Filtration Humidity in indoor environment and developed an innovative range of dehumidifiers to break the viruses and its chain” said Mansoor Ali, research analyst and indoor air quality expert, CEO at AMFAH India.

    About AMFAH India

AMFAH India, an industry leader in air treatment products has developed latest innovative Humidity Controlling Units (HCU)—based on the scientific role of Ventilation Filtration Humidity—to break the Covid-19 virus and its chain in the indoor environment after conducting a research to find out the air quality and it’s after effects on the environment. In fact, AMFAH’s research had identified very early that Covid is airborne. Mansoor Ali, CEO, AMFAH India who is an indoor air quality expert for decades now, has also joined the lead petition filed by Dr Stephanie Taylor from Harvard medical school to WHO in the first wave, ensuring COVID being acknowledged and declared as an airborne virus.

Entrepreneur and Digital strategist Yash Mishra says Digital platforms are performing significant roles in defining the influence of voters

Also, in 2020, there were 700 million Internet users in India, which is now expected to increase to 900 million by 2025. This today has become a way of life for many entrepreneurs, artists, politicians, brands, and companies all over the world. Yash Mishra, whose agency Glossour is currently working on the state E election campaign of 2022 Uttarakhand state election, noticed how after the pandemic, digital platforms also played a key role in defining the image of parties and representatives and eventually decisions.

Branding too, has seen to have helped various niches, including politics, through different digital marketing strategies and services, which in turn give political leaders the knowledge and expertise in strategizing their elections.

Lastly, the young entrepreneur and digital and political strategist say that it is only smart to adapt to the digital platforms for branding and the like so that better strategic planning can be exercised, bringing great results to politicians and leaders.

  • Tiger on Eiger – Largest artwork atop the Swiss Peak

Tiger on Eiger – Largest artwork atop the Swiss Peak

New Delhi (India), February 4: Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter lights up the Eiger North Face in Grindelwald and reiterates Swiss commitment to diverse cultures and environment on eve of the winter Olympic games.

February 3rd, 2022 marks the beginning of the Year of the Tiger in Asia. The Tiger incidentally is the pride of many nations and in extreme danger of being extinct. While many might celebrate the Chinese New Year let’s also pay a tribute to the Tiger who is a significant step in maintaining the ecological balance of this planet.

Switzerland congratulates those who would celebrate the New Year and also reminds us to save the tiger, save our environment with the projection of a 5.3 km long and over 2 km tall tiger on the Eiger North Face projected by Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter. This stems from the artist’s and in general the Swiss people’s deep respect for diverse cultures as well as our environment.

Gerry Hofstetter thus created the largest work of art in the world, over 1,060 football fields in size.

The idea came into his mind when he recognized in the shape of the Eiger a lying Tiger and adding the play on words Tiger/Eiger. With it he wants to symbolize the Swiss mountains and the international solidarity of Switzerland. He particularly chose the start of the winter Olympics as his date with the Tiger on the Eiger as he felt, it should also be a motivation for all Swiss athletes, and of course all other participating athletes, to fight like a tiger for victory. The Winter Olympics will start on February 4th attracting global attention, perhaps also the best moment to create environmental awareness globally.

Gerry Hofstetter and his team needed more than a year to get the projection right. Weather, wind, clouds, moon size, moon position, snow, cold and constellation of the stars had to fit perfectly into a 15-minute time frame. The well-known photographer from Gerry’s team, Frank Schwarzbach, was able to capture the tiger photographically at the right moment.

The action was supported locally by Grindelwald Tourism, the municipality of Grindelwald and by art patrons in Switzerland and abroad.

The tiger lives in 13 countries in Asia. He is threatened with extinction and therefore protected.

Gerry Hofstetter is an internationally active light artist and film producer. With his projections he succeeds in conveying nature, messages and themes spectacularly, sensitively, quietly and sometimes with a wink of the eye. With his illuminations he is also committed to the climate and to a prosperous future for humans, animals and nature on our planet.

Known projects of him are illuminations of icebergs in the Arctic, the Antarctic and the Matterhorn in Zermatt in March 2020 during the global lockdown COVID-19 as a solidarity project for the whole world.

  • Indian government take bold steps on digital currency in Budget 2022, Market analyst Deepak Talwar welcomes the move

Indian government take bold steps on digital currency in Budget 2022, Market analyst Deepak Talwar welcomes the move

February 3: The government has suggested a 30 per cent tax on the transfer of any virtual digital asset. The finance minister said today in Budget 2022 that no deductions other than acquisition costs will be allowed, and no transaction losses will be carried forward. And, the second big move is that starting in FY 2022-23, the Reserve Bank of India will issue digital rupees utilising blockchain and other technologies. Seasoned market analyst and lobbyist Deepak Talwar identifies the benefits and shares his views on the same.

For a few months, the RBI was working on a plan to create the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The government has now made a public announcement about a digital currency, however, the RBI has yet to test the new digital asset and reveal its plans for the technology framework. Market analyst Deepak Talwar informs, “If India continues to its intentions, it will become one of the world’s major economies to implement a so-called central bank digital currency (CBDC), following in the footsteps of China, which is already testing a digital yuan. The central bank’s adoption of digital currency will result in more efficient and cost-effective currency management.”

The digital currency will not be a replacement for fiat currency, but rather a digital equivalent that may be transacted through RBI-regulated blockchain-based exchanges. The RBI may outsource some digital rupee operations to banks, and depositors may be given the option of converting their deposits to digital rupee. According to the market expert Deepak Talwar, this will provide the economy a significant boost while also allowing for more cost-effective and efficient currency management.

For a long time, virtual digital asset trading platforms in India have battled to achieve acceptance and progress. Despite having been in India for nearly a decade, these networks only have about 25 million active users out of a population of 1.4 billion.

Investors have been stopped from reaching the market due to a lack of understanding of virtual digital asset market dynamics and valuations, a lack of legal framework and regulatory rules, and concerns about the safety of investments in the relatively new-formed currency. As per the new budget, the income earned through the transfer of any such digital assets will be taxed at 30 per cent, with an additional 1 per cent tax deduction at the source available during such transactions.

“It is a tremendous move forward by India for three reasons,” Deepak Talwar said of the significant statement on virtual digital asset income taxation. “First, this move recognises them as a valid asset class and its trading as a legitimate activity. Second, tax clarity will attract more people to this industry, resulting in further growth. Finally, a well-regulated eco-system will generate a climate conducive to innovation.”

He adds, “The government’s decision not to ban virtual digital assets, which had been pending for a long time, has provided additional clarity. It means that the government does not intend to put a stop to the activities related to them, but rather wants to move in a direction with clear norms and regulations.”

“Virtual digital assets have gained remarkable popularity in recent years, according to the budget memorandum, and the volume of trading in such digital assets has expanded significantly,” says Talwar, seasoned market analyst and lobbyist. He further informs, “A market is forming in which payment for the transfer of a virtual digital asset can be made using another virtual digital asset. As a result, the Bill proposes a new scheme to provide for their taxation.”

By permitting these assets to be taxed, and introducing CBDB, they have finally been given legitimacy by the Indian government. This is a breath of fresh air for this business, as well as a stimulus for creativity. India is currently undergoing a financial system transformation. This marks the start of a new India.
